Mirror's Edge - Gen. Discussion & Info - Demo Now On XBLM

I love that sweet ambient song from the trailer. Forgot what the title was, but I was listening to it without the trailer and it's topnotch. ;D

Can't wait for this.

Though I'm eager to hear future stories of kid's imitating the game and jumping from rooftop and either paralyzed or dying...Good times.

this looks great, I did like Crackdown which allowed climbing and jumping between buildings also.

I hope it plays as good as it looks. I'm trying to stay far away from any info about the story. All I know is that the main character is a runner for an underground political movement.

November can't come soon enough. Left 4 Dead AND Mirror's Edge? Awesome.

Sorta reminds me of portal with its simple design. I will definately be buying this one. Can't wait for more updates and previews even though there are a bunch already at ign and gametrailers.

This holiday release schedule crap has to stop. Can't companies realize that we cannot buy the 20 or so kick ass games that come out from October to December. Spread your shit out motherfuckers!!!

Sorry, but all of these games coming out so close to each other is pissing me off.

Rock Band 2 (with instruments)
Fallout 3
Fable 2
Left 4 Dead
Mirror's Edge
Animal Crossing Wii
Castlevania: OoE
GTA4 DLC
....

I need to start selling Meth or something.

EDIT: Mirror's Edge looks awesome and I can't wait to check it.

Oh, and I know someone is going to say GameFly and you know what, you're right, I need to start it back up just for the holiday season.

I'm looking forward to trying it. I don't see tons of replay value but I'll at least be renting it for a couple playthroughs from Game Fly.

I hear Cocaine is more lucrative. ;)

But yes, the next two months will be maddening. I decided to simply only get what I will have time to play.

Of course, I say this now, but when things get released, I'll pick it up ASAP.

I've decided for budgetary reasons that I'm only going to buy 2 more games on release day this year: LittleBigPlanet and Saint's Row 2. This is the game that will most challenge my resolve to stick to that decision.
yea, I don't see any demo for this up on the MP today..
Looks like Eurogamer changed the article I linked to last week. It now says that "EA is planning a demo before release". Joystiq also updated a similar article they had posted the same day:

Update: Note that the pre-order incentive's staring date may not necessarily be the release date of the demo. Upon contacting EA for a specific date, Joystiq was told, "The pre-order initiative begins on September 26th and the demo will be out before the game ships, as the press release sent this morning states."

Damn!! I was really looking forward to checking out the demo!

is anyone able to pre-order the 360 mirror's edge/timbuk2 bag bundle from EA's store? i get an error but the ps3 version works

Yeah, we got the time trial cards for pre-orders in on the 25th. I was hoping it gives access to a demo, but alas, it does not.

According to GS the demo is coming November 6th:

The downloadable demo for DICE's first person free-runner Mirror's Edge will hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 6--a scant 5 days before its full release on November 11--according to retailer GameStop.

As previously announced, those that pre-order the game from GameStop and other select retailers will receive a code to enable Time Trial mode in the demo, allowing them to compete against parkour co-creator Sebastian Foucan himself.

While the console releases hit November 11, the PC edition of Mirror's Edge is currently slated to arrive in the vague "winter" timeframe as DICE wanted to ensure that the PC version would be "amazing."

Although to me, it really feels like a PS3 game. Dunno why. (probably get it on PS3 because of this)
It's the bright colors and female lead.

I'm being so serious too.

Dammit i want it now! I need to try this out. It looks good but i want to know if it plays good.

I think the demo might actually turn away a lot of people from the game. To me personally, the game looks great, but I hate time trials and if the gameplay doesn't flow this game won't be for me.

Just finished playing the demo...

WOW. GOTY contender for sure. Will absolutely be picking this up day one, demo exceeded my expectations, and that's very hard to do.

Anyhow, thanks DICE!

This game is fucking awesome. Oh and to all the people that have been saying this game is not fluid and that you die every 5 minutes, you are VERY wrong.

I only died once and that was at the beginning, because I was not paying attention. For the rest of the level, I ran and jumped over stuff fluidly without dieing.

Play this demo now!

i died about 4x in the training because i didnt do the jump right or i didnt understand how to push the buttons and once in the because i wasnt sure where to go. one thing that i didnt like is that you couldnt skip the little cut scene where the white girl trains you if you fail, you have to watch it again.

all in all i'm impressed, the game runs a lot smoother than i thought it would. i say its a rental since i dont see much replay in the game. i'm not into time trails as replay.

i also just played the demo and im sold. before actually playing it i was always intrested in the game but now with hands on its such a cool game. day 1 purchase for me.

Demo is everything that I was hoping it'd be. I've been hyped for months and have been dying to play it. It exceeded my expectations and while the controls seemed overwhelming at first, they QUICKLY became second nature. Day one purchase for me.

Here's the theme

//edit: I did the time trial mode over and over. I never do time trials. I keep trying to think of faster routes. The game tells me to take the stairs, I look over and see something to vault on and jump onto, or wall jump off of.. it shaves off seconds here and there instead of taking the stairs.. I love this game

wow, seems like demo impressions are overwhelmingly positive. can't wait to get home and download it and give it a whirl for myself!

Alright so just played it. Its interesting and definitely has the potential to be great but I am not ready to crown this super amazing just yet.

Definitely warrant a lot of looking into though. Most like will still pick this up just out of principal of not being another FPS everything in the world is shades of gray and brown though.

I thought it was great. I can see how stringing together moves and attacks could be pretty satisfying once you get comfortable with the controls.

Been a while since I've seen an early/first trailer of the game only to play the demo and see that the game plays exactly like it.

Needless to say it played very well and I'm impressed.

Awesome game. I like it a lot but I still can't shake the feeling that I want it in third person. Ever since I saw the trailer, I just thought there was a lot of cool stuff going on and you potentially miss out on some of it being in first person. Probably will buy though.

From the trailers, it looked cool but I was iffy on how it would play and if the movements were going to be jerky but that demo blew me away. Really smooth and the controls were perfect. Don't see how there is going to be any replay value though so the game rests on the story's shoulders but if it can keep up with what the demo shows, it should be a pretty cool game. Its worth at least a rental though I think I might end up picking this one up for my birthday or Christmas.

Liked the Demo quite a bit, I really like the graphical approach they took with the game. The Buildings around look very good. Jumping around buildings is very fun and it seems there could potentially be a lot of ways to get from point A to Point B.

Demo was awesome, but not $60 awesome...this one may get lost in the holiday shuffle for me unless I can get it on sale or rental.
