MLB 09: The Show CAG League - WEEK 7 STANDINGS! READ POST #1065!!!

Good game Gen. I didn't hit very consistently, but those HRs made the difference. I'm just happy I survived it as you kept getting guys on base and threatening.
Good game, Keltonian. Messed up a few times but was a fun game!

Good game, Keith. That inside cutter was really pissing me off all game long lol. Really competitive game though, I look foward to our next game. Thanks for playing.

That game between n8 and yukine sounded good. I thought it was gonna go much longer than it did.
Good game, man. You were knocking homers left and right. Sucked for me when Ichiro got hurt sliding into 2nd. lol

I had some stuttering lag for the second half, but not sure it mattered as you were pounding the hell out of the ball. You probably had lag too, and clearly it didn't slow you down. :)

Anyway, looking forward to our next matchup! I'm having a blast - even when I lose. :)
Keith
As far as what Keith and I had been discussing earlier, do you guys want to use the full rotations (including pitchers that may have been autodrafted), or do you want to just use the guys that we chose? Even though I'm not a fan of Jeff Francis, I kinda think it would be interesting to use a guy who wasn't my pick. It might force me to be a little creative with how I play the game. I could go either way though.
I guess I drafted my 5 starters, so I'll probably have to roll with them anyway. I've been ignoring the schedule, and just going in order by my games played. What I was originally thinking was that it is obviously an advantage for a team to "get" to use their #1 (and #2, and #3) starters more times if they have a 3 man rotation, but it's probably an equalizer of some sort for those who got royally screwed by the autodrafting fiasco. I'm having fun either way, and hopefully it won't be an issue if and when we do Cag '09 version 2 when this one is done. By then the drafting issues will possibly be resolved.

Keith

That's what I was thinking as well; next league we set up should have many of the draft problems fixed via the patch.

I have about an hour until dinner, so I can fit a game in if you want to play now, Boston. Will also be on after dinner until 10 PM.

Ugh...a great pitchers duel between Destro and myself turned into a 2-0 win after a the game booted us in the 8th after a traffic delay. We both had minimal shit goin on with our connections though, so I don't know what happened. fuckin internet.

Sorry Destro, but it looks like that lag was my fault since I got the loss. Hopefully our next game doesn't end that way.

I don't know who I just played, but an epic game...

he goes into the bottom of the ninth 0-0 with a no-hitter intact if he can win the game... I throw a high-tight inside-fastball on my first pitch which he deposits in the right-field bleachers.. unreal. great game.

GG between Nova and myself. We were scoreless going into the 8th then Taveras gets a walk, steals second and Rollins smokes a triple into left-center to score him. 1-0.

BTW I was inviting Destro but musta been AFK.

Also for rotations, whenever you post something regarding the game just put who started for you and the other team.

IE my game was Sabathia v. Peavy.

GG Destro; can't believe I got the no hitter. Figured I'd go scoreless again in the 9th and lose it, and then a walk-off HR for the win. I fell back into the couch in disbelief.

Whew. That was tense.

gg Gen

the more i play the m0ore terrible i fee.l fuuck i cant even buy a hit . i always give up guess pitch homers and i all i do is get guess foul balls

GG gen. That sucks that Jurjenns got hurt...anyways if anyone else wants to play let me know, I'll be trolling around here for a few then get back on.

Matchup was Dempster v. Juurjens

gg md, just keep playing, I'm sure you'll improve. This is the first baseball game I've played seriously in awhile so I'm still learning too.

gg talon, couldn't score any against you but I had fun.

No problem, Boston, I may be on MLB again after 1 AM, also free all day tomorrow and Tuesday. We'll get our game in soon haha.
Yeah i'll hit you up tommorow Gen, just give me a time.
Anytime is cool, maybe around 2 or 3 PM EST?

Ugh, I hate that people can quit a game in the 1st inning and they won't get a disconnect/quit/loss, even if you have the lead. I get a rare HR in the 1st inning and he quits.

Damn if you care so much about winning, try not picking the Pirates... douche.

Haha, yeah, I've started intentionally going "easy" on people in the 1st so they won't quit. Sometimes you'll even get guys with no plate discipline who will quit if you throw anything out of the zone. It's retarded. I just try to bait them in the 1st, then get flat out nasty.

Yeah I just got a 3 run HR and I was like DONT QUIT DONT QUIT DONT QUIT

Edit: Nah, instead he disconnects in the 2nd when I have the bases loaded.

I swear that people on PSN are such sore losers, way more so than on XBL. Although you don't have to hear them whine and shit since no one has a mic.

Yeah, this has been my opinion too. I don't know if it's just the MLB crowd or what, but I'd say easily 80% of the randoms I play are complete assholes. I played an incredible game against a guy last night. He went up 1-0 in the 1st, but I actually had confidence in my ability and wanted to play it out. In the 3rd inning, I hit a home run with Torri Hunter on a curve he tried hanging to tie the game up. An inning later, he drives 2 more runs across to go up 3-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Vlad gets on, and what do you know, Hunter blasts another HR to knot the game up again.

For the next 7 innings, neither team scores. I had to use my bullpen a lot early in the game, so now in extra innings, I'm riding Scot Shields. In his 4th inning of work (12th inning), the guy gets a guess pitch and hits a solo shot that ends up winning the game. Even though I lost, I enoyed the hell out of the game. I go to send him a message to tell him "good game", and I notice he left me a rating of 2 with the reason "pauses the game frequently". It's ridiculous man. People are just rotten. It's hard to even mention sportsmanship when they don't even have a sense of human decency.

That's what REALLY pisses me off about playing randoms. You never know what you'll get. There could be a great connection and a great game going, but they'll give you a 1 regardless. This is why I only play randoms when I'm really bored. You'll either get someone with a terrible connection, or some asshat that feels the need to rush every pitch. So far I've only met one awesome player. We had a great connection and ended up playing a 24 inning epic. He lost, but still gave me a good rating.

I just played some idiot who tried to get me to do a friendly quit too. He asked to concede right after that, so I agreed. Didn't feel like wasting my time with this cunt. Out of curiosity, I checked his ratings and he seems to do that a lot.

I'm ready for a game - anyone I need to play around???

cusemanKeith

heading down to the mancave now - if anyone sees this and wants to play, just shoot me a psn message and I'll get on to The Show - won't be checking this thread for awhile

Good game, Boston, was a close game and you kept me on my toes. That sucked to see Shields get injured on that swing. I need to stop hitting square accidentally when trying to throw to second instead, always seem to do that haha.

Will be around most of the day if anyone else I need to play is on.

I can play you tonight sometime...
I can play you tonight sometime...
Sure, though our league game isn't available yet. Maybe it will be available after the series countdown timer is over in 5 hours, not sure if that's what the timer is for or what though. I'll be on tonight, should be free anytime if our game unlocks.

Happened to me, too; I gave him a bad rating after he quit following my first inning HR, and he then gave ME a 1 rating. Jerk. hey Wpark your my 1st sched game since that clock is ticking down maybe we should try and get that game in . if you see this hit me up on the PSN so we can do it. thanks

Agreed; I was getting nervous about that comeback!! That lag in the 9th did such, though.
great game Kelt
only weak part was it got laggy in the ninth messed my whole comeback up lol.
anyone around and wanna play me? I don't know who is left on my opening list.

EDIT: anyone who has me on the schedule, and wants to play me, PM me on CAG... I'll get the message on my phone and I'll hop on the PS3

I found this on a news release:

Not only are we offering the Flex Schedule, but we’re also offering a far easier Schedule Screen. The new online Season League Schedule screen has the same look and feel of the offline season schedule screen. We’ve added a Series countdown in schedule screen. This lets the league know when the current series expires and how much time they have before the Commissioner can resolve games. Get those games played!

So.... maybe we're alright as long as N8 doesn't resolve our games for us. :)

BTW - I may be on later tonight, but can't promise... will definitely go looking for people if I get a chance to play.

Glad you found that Keith because your interpretation seems to be pretty much dead on. I just looked at the options available to me now, and yeah, I CAN grant wins for any of the series one games that haven't been played, but it doesn't look like I have to. When I clicked on "current series", it still shows series one (I'm guessing it will stay this way until all series one games have been played).

It seems like the timer is really for me more than anything else. It's counting down the time I HAVE to wait until I can resolve any game in that particular series. Obviously, I won't be resolving anything until the end of the season, when we're good and ready to move on to the playoffs, in case we have anybody who drops out or becomes a total detriment to the league. But let's not let that happen guys!

I've been really pleased with the effort most of you have made thus far. I'd like to see a little more from stewie75 and ivanctorres though. I know you guys are probably very busy, but if you can't count on just bumping into people on PSN, you really gotta try to seek out opponents for the times when you are available to play. Show me something fellas.

Oh, also, I updated the standings in the OP. Check it out to see where you rank!
