No, that's not what I'm saying. There are a lot of people that like the Red Sox and have for years that don't live near New England. My problem is that people buy the Red Sox, wear it around, and when you ask they to name one player on the team they can't, they know nothin.g about baseball. When the Yankees won 4 out of 5 World Series there were a lot of that type of "fan", it pisses me off.

And pink or orange Red Sox hats piss me off, where something that is close to the color of the team or don't buy team hats!

I'm done with my ranting.

I was tired of the regular Indians caps so I picked up this one for cheap one day and have already worn it to a game. I don't have a problem with differently styled team hats. It's not like you're on the team, you're just a fan.

if you mean the way the sell tix, then no...bostons is fucking horrible, every year i try to buy one of the 8 game pax, and the website crashes, last year I got the tix, my cc was hit up, but they were sold out of it...so they refunded my money:(
 
No Wakefield in the World Series, he's hurt again. Lester will start game 4.

The last few years for the playoffs and Yankees tickets, they do an online lottery. I've never once won. There are still a few (very few) tickets held back that go on sale at the park the day of the game, but you have to camp out for those.
 
yeah the lottery system sucks...I register for it for post season as well as for the pre season green monster, bud roof deck tix...I register myself, my father, my mother, my wife, and my brother...never have won, but I get a stupid ass take 20% off your next online redsox store purchase.
 
too bad about wakefield..the bad news is that he won't be playing, the good news is that most likely kyle snyder will be on the roster, and imo he has pitched very well this year and since most of the starter haven't made it out of the 5th, it will be nice to have a long guy there...

in other news, I believe they announced that jacoby will start in cf

I still say sox in 5.

The rocks havent faced clutch and thats what the red sox are clutch. The layoff is way to long and im liking how Dustin Predroia is becoming a good hitter in that lineup..which could be dangerous for the rocks. it gives the sox another hitter to be aware of.
 
Obviously going with the Red Sox. Don't have a prediction with games, but I am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED I am now getting to see them in 3 world series in my life. Hopefully they can keep it going, but the Rockies look about as good as a baseball team can be right now.

And don't forget about defensive replacement at 1B. He'll still get a ton of ABs. Besides, JD will still probably develop asthma in the 2nd inning in game 3.
 
The Rockies are the kind of pitching staff that the Red Sox feast on, they walk a lot of guys and don't throw first pitch strikes consistently.

Anything a pitching staff does against a team with TONY CLARK batting cleanup means nothing to me. I'm generally unimpressed with most NL pitching anyway. Francis is legitimately good, but not dominant.

They have a life-time $4 million dollar option on Wakefield. I can almost guarantee that if he wants to come back, they will pick up the option. It's not like he has been ineffective when healthy this year. He might not be #2-3 starter, but for the money he is pretty damn commodity to have on the roster.

That comes from winning - so that's a side effect I'll take any day of the week. Same thing happened with the Cowboys, Bulls, Lakers, Yankees, etc etc. You'll find more pink hats and idiots jumping on these days, but real fans don't give a sh*t about moron fans or what other teams think about us.

No one was trying to hold our hand when we heard the "1918!" chants all the time. Everyone laughed when sports shows mocked our futility at winning the World Series. So now that we've won, and keep on winning fuck you all! Seriously.

And don't remember me about the Cowboys. I saw those dumb jackets all the time 10+ years ago. That drove me insane too. My cousin was a Cowboys fan, and now is a Pats fan. I wonder why... :roll:

I like our chances. Besides, there's not the specter of heartbreak there was before. If we lose, we lose, but we go down fighting. It's totally different. And I for one, am thrilled things have changed.

Some people have no loyalty and will follow whatever team is in vogue and/or winning. That shouldn't mean I get less enjoyment when my teams win. It's the sweetest feeling, everyone talking sh*t year after year after year, and then they all shut the fuck up all at once.

There will always be haters. Better to be the champs and let them hate on.
 
that other story about wakefield was they were planning on using him in game 2. I guess they didn't want to take the chance of the knuckleball getting crushed in CO. He felt he could try to get thru the game, but he wouldn't be available for the rest of the series. The sox decided they didn't want to be short a pitcher, and for that along with health related reasons kept him off the roster.

You have a point. I do like it before the Red Sox won, there was a fanbase that would never leave, but then everyone made fun of the fans for liking a team that never wins.

Now they won and everyone joins the party. I'm just pissed that a lot of these assholes jumped on the Red Sox wagon and my dad never got to see them win, he died in 2001, and was a massive fan.

I think the Rockies are a much better team than people give them credit for. Here's hoping they play their best tonight - taking game 1 would be HUGE. And hey, they've beat Beckett before, they can do it again...

I don't think that is the plan...most likely, game 1, 5, and 7...but lets be honest, he is going to start and finish the series with games 1 and 5


as for beating beckett before, that was a much different beckett then he is now...and that isn't taking into account there whole team hasn't played a game in over a weak...there hitters will have lost there mojo (timing), and I bet there pitching won't be as sharp.

anyone else not like the post season setup...i figure series setup 2,2, 1, 1,1 would best serve the teams involved...I am pretty sure they used to have it setup like that, and maybe the stopped it due to the travel involved in the last 3 games but imo it really favors the away team. If the teams are somewhat evenly matched, you should figure they would split the first 2, and then the vistiting team would go home and win at least 2 at home...best case scenerio it would go to a game 6 with the visting team up 3 - 2, worse case they would have swept in the 3 games at home and won the series 4 - 1.

I believe it was always 2-3-2 in Baseball since it dates back to the era of traveling cross country by train. I like it for Baseball, but not for any other sport.

Beckett is dealing like Pablo Escobar. Is there still any doubt that he is the best pitcher in Baseball?

There was an awesome camraderie among Red Sox fans before 2004 - and I do miss that, but do I miss the losing? The heartbreak? The mocking? HELL no.

Besides, your dad was watching that game along with my grandmother and all of the other Red Sox fans up there. I bet it was a hell of a party.

And Josh Beckett is NASTY.

I agree. Someone made a comment to me the other day about all the bandwagon Sox fans after 2004. I was like, who? The girls?

Those are the only people that have really joined "Red Sox Nation," a bunch of girls who only know which players are cute.

Yeah, I'm not going to defend my sex here, because it's the truth. Unfortunately, they give a bad name to all the women who are true Red Sox fans. My father has 5 daughters and no sons, so he passed on his love of sports to us.

I feel bad for the female fans who can't name the starting lineup but spend the entire game discussing Varitek's thighs. Like I said though, what other people do has no effect on me. I mean, I feel like knocking their pink caps off into the gutter, but what are you going to do, it comes with the territory.
 
I give my girlfriend credit, shes not a sports person. But shes really gettting into baseball, but shes actually learning the players, learning how the games work, and the terms and such. After 1 season, shes coming along quite well.
 
You also have to blame the marketing people in professional sports - they're the ones who have been trying to draw women in by offering pink jerseys and hats (they have them for all teams in MLB and NFL, for example). I love the women's cut styles, with shorter sleeves, a waist, etc etc. But I like wearing my team colors, not some pastel palette of crap. Have you ever seen that Women's NFL training thing? Where it teaches women about football? It's seriously one of the most insulting things I've ever seen. "The quarterback throws the football.." A-holes.

It's the same school of thought that gives us pink DS's, pink phones, pink PSPs, etc etc.

Anyway. I'm not going to ramble on the subject.
 
I give people a test to see if they are true fans or not.

If they don't they aren't a true fan. :)
