MLB 2K11 CAG League Baseball - Season 2! We Made It! Playoffs! Rd 1 Due by 10/12!

I'm not saying speed tests can't be valid. But speaking from experience, I can't say I've had much issue with online gaming. Sure I've had my fair share of lag, but generally, it does seem pretty decent. Sure it's not the best out there, but I've played my fair share of halo and such with little to no problems whatsoever.

As for how many bars I get, it tends to vary. 3 (out of 5) is about average. Rarely does it hit 1 and doesn't hit 2 much either. Does hit 4 a decent amount.

Edit: For sheer curiosity:

Like I said in my last post. The last two places I lived at weren't that much different iirc. And one of them I believe had upload speed (according to speedtest) that never hit above 1.

Honestly, your ping is pretty terrible (which is probably causing most of the problems). Your speeds aren't great, but probably could support most games. By comparison, my PC (which is connected to my router wirelessly) is pulling these numbers.

My Xbox, however, is hardwired into the router, so it probably gets even better speeds. I completely understand your predicament of not being able to get a better connection. You just can't really be surprised when you run into problems considering the circumstances. Expecting better results is just unrealistic. It sucks, but it is what it is.
what kind of nat do you see when you go on the dashboard and under network preferences "test xbox live connection"
My NAT is open.

Yeah, I doubt it's any specific setting that's the issue. It's just WIFI from another building...on a connection that isn't meant for gaming...that God knows how many other people are connected to. The fact that it doesn't work great isn't really blowing my mind here, lol.

tRY CHANGING THE BROADCAST CHANNEL ON YOUR ROUTER. iF THE LIBRARY IS BROADCASTING ON THE SAME CHANNEL, IT COULD BE INTERFERING

Annnnnnnd I hit caps lock, dont feel like retyping that, sorry >_>

All my devices are wireless, so I don't have a router. And as far as the library sharing my connection goes, it varies. If it is bad, it's generally in the morning (why I like playing online in the evening instead when possible), but even then it's not too bad normally. Of course, it helps I live in a REALLY small town.

Ah, nevermind. Missed your post where you use the library's, thought your connection was getting interference from the library's

Brewers 9 Braves 2
junkballer Randy Wolf got in a groove and the bats were hot

brewers move to 5-3 with one game left against nate (I'm around today and tomorrow)

So I guess Nate is going to have to figure out how to handle the games with the Reds and my game with the Braves. Maybe for the game with the Braves he can use run differential to determine a winner. That won't work with the Reds games since they lost the only game they played.

Honestly, if I miss the playoffs this season, I wouldn't mind. I'm not quite sure what it is, but the way I've been playing, I honestly don't really deserve a spot.

It seems unlikely since the baseball season is winding down and most of us are into Madden/NHL, but is there any hope for a third season?

DarkTower and I are set to play our game sometime tomorrow.

I doubt it. Madden and NHL are really going to be all I have time for.

I agree in the sense I don't expect a third season either. Between the Phillies being dominant, my fantasy baseball teams sucking, and work about to get sucky in about a month or two, baseball hasn't been big on my mind lately.
I doubt it. Madden and NHL are really going to be all I have time for.
This for me as well.

I still have a game against Nate yet. Things got pretty crazy for me the last two / three days. My alternator / battery broke down so I had to fix them yesterday and today I was on the road for four hours picking my my dad up and dropping him off so he could pick up his vehicle which broke down last week. I should be good now as far as time goes though if you want to play some time tomorrow night.
Congratulations on your marriage coming up. Hopefully the wife won't keep you away from the Xbox too much. ;)
she already does compared to how I USED to game
so what games are left, we need to finish this
Agreed. I think I have to play Jstryke. That might be it. Well, other than the phantom game against me and moojuice that was didn't count, then counted, then didn't count again. He was having connection issues, and kept dropping, and was just going to let me have the win since he didn't factor into the playoff picture anyway. After three attempts (one of which dropped in the 4th inning and didn't record the results), he dropped in the 1st inning, and it showed up as a win for me. So, we were like "Ok, good. Fine, yeah, whatever." haha, then the next time I looked at it, it was back to "unplayed".

Anyway, Jstryke, let me know when you can play. I should be around the next couple evenings if you want to get it done.

I also have a game with the rays, but we can't connect. As for me, I'm free tomorrow night and late mornings thurs-sat, but "my" net has been down since this past saturday. Not sure exactly when it"ll be back up.

Is the connection secure now or can you just not connect to it? Or is it not showing up at all?

It wasn't showing up at all. Being a library, if it was secure, I'm sure they'd be handing passwords out to people wouldn't really be secure anyways. But I just got home an hour ago and funnily enough, it appears to have gone back up at some point today.

Ok, I was just wondering if they blocked your MAC ID or something. Good that it's back up though. Maybe we can play our game tomorrow?

I can get on now if you want. As for tomorrow, not exactly sure when I'll be home. My shift ends at 5pm, but I have a meeting I apparently have to attend and then a quick round of grocery shopping. I expect to be home no later than 8pm worst case scenario.

Quick Edit: Going to make dinner quick. Should be back in half an hour or so.

All right, well Jstryke and I got our game in. It was pretty smooth compared to past games. I took an early lead. He came back. I regained the lead. He came back. Then he proceeded to kick the shit out of me. Brandon Webb was dealing, but pulled an AJ Burnett meltdown in the 5th inning (yes, I'm saying that as he pitches with a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning to decide the Yanks season. That's how much faith I have in him, lol). Hits just started dropping in everywhere. I think Jstryke had like 5-6 triples by the time things were said and done. Manny Corpas came in and just made things worse. Jstryke ended up winning 12-6.

The only remaining games are "the game that won't die" of Texas vs Colorado (not sure if moojuice wants to make another attempt at that game). And I guess Atlanta vs Tampa Bay. I know you guys had trouble connecting before, but Jstryke is hoping that his library's rejuvenated connection might help things. As luck would have it, that game is essentially a one game playoff for the final spot in the postseason. I've mostly got the Cincinnati games figured out, but the outcome of that game will affect the various tiebreakers.

Here's the current standings and games remaining

Philadelphia: 7-1 (2 vs CIN)
Texas: 6-3 (1 vs COL)
Milwaukee: 5-4 (1 vs CIN)
Atlanta: 4-4 (1 vs TB, 1 vs CIN)
Tampa Bay: 4-3 (1 vs TB, 2 vs CIN)
Chicago: 2-7 (1 vs CIN)
Colorado: 1-6 (2 vs CIN)
Cincinatti: 0-1 (lotso games)

At this point, Philadelphia has the top seed no matter what. So they'll get both wins against CIN.

Milwaukee will get a win against CIN, creating a potential tie for the #2 spot if Texas loses to Colorado.

If Atlanta beats Tampa Bay, Atlanta will get a win over CIN, tying them with Milwaukee (and possibly Texas) and Tampa Bay will get 1 win and 1 loss vs CIN.

If Tampa Bay beats Atlanta, the assigned wins will still be the same, but TB will end up tied with Milwaukee (and possibly Texas),

Still with me? haha :)

Chicago will get 1 win vs CIN.

And Colorado will get 1 win and 1 loss vs CIN.

This should preserve the standings exactly as they are now (pending the remaining user games).

Got my final game played with Colorado last night. I pulled out a squeaker, winning 7-6. Keeping with 2K11 style, both teams had some fielding issues and the pitchers for both sides notched several hits. It was a fun game though.

We also discovered something unfortunate last night. It appears removing pitfallharry from the league was the wrong move. I started to go through and assign wins for those games and discovered that I can't give a team with no owner a win. So, the two matchups where I was going to split wins (Colorado and Tampa Bay) will now have to have both wins going to those teams.

For Colorado, this doesn't affect anything since they're already out of the playoff picture. For Atlanta, this puts you in a tough spot. If you win your game against TB, you'll finish at 6-4...but with the 2 wins vs CIN, so will TB. It's anyone's guess how the game will actually handle that tiebreaker. However, if TB wins the game, the two wins against CIN wouldn't affect anything.

The only way to avoid this would be to have somebody (or even a dummy XBL account) join the league just for the sake of assigning those wins properly. Not sure if it's worth the trouble though. I'll let Tampa Bay and Atlanta make the call here. All this assumes that you guys can connect to play your game in the first place, lol. If not, I'll have to give Atlanta the loss since you can't physically check your connection to make sure there aren't problems. Hoping you can just play though.
I'm ok with Atlanta taking the last playoff spot, as I'm pretty much done with this game anyway.
If that's how you want to do it, I'll make sure Atlanta gets the final playoff spot (it might involve me resetting one of your other games and giving you a loss to make sure the game doesn't botch the tiebreaker). I'll try to get that done today so we can get on with the playoffs.

All right, we are finally moved on to the playoffs. The matchups are as follows:

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves
Texas Rangers vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The series are best of 3, so post who your three starting pitchers will be. As with the first season, your remaining starting pitchers can be used in relief, but CAN NOT pitch in back to back games. Good luck to the remaining teams!

The Braves will throw out Tim Hudson, Tommy Hanson, and Derek Lowe provided I don't have a sudden change of heart.

Also, DarkTower, Do Sunday or Monday work for you? I work 2-10pm EST Friday and 4-10 Saturday, so those aren't the easiest days to try and meet up I don't think. Monday I should be free all day and Sunday, I'll probably have to pick my dad up from work, but can get on as early as 3pm or so.

Grienke
Gallardo
Marcum

almost gave Wolf game 3 start because he did really well against you earlier this season but I just don't trust him sometimes

I'm off tomorrow but pretty busy most of the day, if you are on when I get home tomorrow night we can see about getting a game in, other wise I work 2-1030 sat/sun

Halladay, Lee, and Oswalt will be my pitchers.

I have to work late Sunday so it would need to be early afternoon or after 9 pm MST. I am pretty sure I can do Monday evening but will have to double check.

Sunday can work now since I don't have to worry about driving 3 hours on the road Sunday. I might be in another session in the late morning/early afternoon, but it's only scheduled to go 2 hours so if we go through with it, should be done around 2pm EST. Otherwise, I'll probably be on Sunday night as well.

Brewers 4 Rangers 3
game came down to a fly ball that the animation of the player was kind of weird and let the ball drop and the brewers scored the go ahead run

Brewers 5 Rangers 1

Brewers bats woke up and finally hit some clutch home runs, I hope it was nates internet going out and not just rage quitting after I hit 2 homers and then he beaned prince fielder. Had some great games with you nate, really hope it wasn't a rage quit cause I wouldn't have expected one of those from you.

Yeah...fuck this game. Not redworm's fault, but he won Game 1 on a completely horseshit, go fuck your mother type of play. After CJ Wilson dominated him the entire game and racked up like 14 strikeouts, he battles back and manages to tie the game against my bullpen. Then, in the 9th, he strings together a couple bloop hits with 1 out, and then hits fly ball to right. My fielder is tracking it the whole way, and goes to "settle under it" as the ball is dropping toward him. Of course he misses it, and even though redworm had his runner on 2nd tagging up in anticipation of the out, he's able to score easily for the winning run.

After this bullshit, I started the 2nd game under complete protest. My logic being "Why should I bother playing again if 2K is just going to cheat me out a fucking game anyway?" Redworm used some well placed lying to convince me to play again (sorry, but you're full of shit), when I asked him "If you had been cheated out of a game, would you want to play again?"

Of course, by that point, I was just completely deflated and played like shit. So, as I said, redworm, enjoy the win. It wasn't your fault, but you won game 1 because of dumb shit of a fielder not being able to "settle under" a ball after a myriad of running, leaping, and outstretched catches had been made the entire game. You were the benefactor of garbage.

I can't stand when video games go this way. All I want is a fair game without glitches or shitty programming that detracts from the actual "skill" of the participants. To me, this shit ruins the entire experience and makes them not worth playing. We might as well have been playing Mario Kart Baseball so you could make my right fielder slip on a banana peel. I'm just too old to enjoy a game that comes down to random, dumb luck.
really hope it wasn't a rage quit cause I wouldn't have expected one of those from you.
It wasn't a rage quit. It was a forfeit. I already didn't want to play the game. Why would that surprise you? If it was the beaning Fielder thing, I understand. That wasn't directed at you though, lol. That was my "fuck you, 2K. I'm done with this game" last hurrah. No offense, but your win in game one was worse than how I came back in my last Madden league game. At least the game didn't glitch for me to come back and win.

If you need something to equate it to, let me kick you in the nuts, and then challenge you to a foot race. Wouldn't feel much like running would you?

Also, I saved a replay of the winning "hit", but of course I can't share it because 2K took their website down. Which brings me back to...fuck you, 2K.

Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers for advancing to the World Series!

Now to see who their opponent will be: Philadelphia or Atlanta.

yeah that really pissed me off, the game had a great website for league/replays but then they just ditch it

the best thing for mlb2k11 is I've NEVER seen a baseball game play this smooth/lagless (for the most part) online
