Well again the stoppage thing reminded me about the Richard Steele incident because there was an HBO special on it I watched this past week and I like to see champions finish.

Before the fight started we also commented that Gina looked like she was in the wrong profession while Cyborg looked like a beast who could take us both out. Again I like Gina but some of her actions and comments make me question her drive and work ethic. If she didn't get paid well, I doubt she'd be fighting.
Gina looked kinda lost in there tonight for some reason.

Not fully there, that is for sure.

first, cris cyborgs sparring partner is her husband and she is his.
the bashing of couture is garbage. it sounds like carano atempted to, "withstand the flurries and get the fuck away from cyborg" with her front kick and the jabs that cyborg just walked through. Along with a huge number of fans I felt couture was winning the lesnar fight and had a very good looking gameplan, before he got caught.
the couture crap is just unwarranted.
Also, I'm going to be a bastard and blame this loss on Randy Couture. Clearly, Carano's training was nowhere near the level of Cyborg's. The comparison is almost like Gina trained to be a tough chick, and Cyborg trained to be a tough fighter. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the guys at Chute Boxe are apprehensive about sparring with her.

Randy should have known that Cyborg was going to come flying in and try to overwhelm the shit out of her. But how can you expect him to know how to handle that style considering the way he handled Lesnar.

What Carano needed to do was withstand the flurries and get the fuck away from Cyborg. Let her blow her load in the early rounds, then mount your attack. It looked like Gina just got caught up in the frenzy, and in turn gassed herself, and left herself wide open to anything Cyborg wanted to throw at her.

So, fuck you Randy Couture. Your soft-spoken approach to coaching isn't worth shit when they throw you in there with an animal. IF Gina wants to continue fighting (and I wouldn't blame her if she doesn't. Let the ugly ones get beat in the face for a living), she needs to find a more relevant coach, who will actually help her grow as a fighter.
I had a response to this, but then CAG's piece of shit server died for about 2 hours. Something about Gina being undertrained and some of the responsibility having to fall on Couture. After all, he would have been given credit for his "great training" had she won the fight.

Xtreme Couture boxing coach Ron Frazier talks to Fighthype.com about Forrest Griffin's quick exit at UFC 101:

“He wasn’t injured. He’s an emotional guy and he just didn’t feel like sticking around. He’s done that before. After the Jardine fight, they kind of surrounded him a little bit, but he said a couple of things into the mic and left the cage pretty quickly. Just the emotions of…here is a guy who is very confident that he could win this fight and he just never had a chance to get off. He’s an emotional creature, so he left the cage. It wasn’t really a big deal. I think people are making a bigger deal about it then it really is. It wasn’t anything left to see anyway. Anderson had beaten him and it wasn’t like it was going to a decision. We already knew what happened, so he decided to go into the back and get his tape off and get changed and everything else. I think he was kind of comforting us more than anything else because we were all down and bothered and you know, that’s that.”

I disagree with both of you to some degree. his "style" isnt terrible thats just silly. while some responsibility for supposed ineffective training and strategy would lie with the coach none of you know what her camp was like or what the strategy was. for all you know she could have said fuck it and half-assed her camp and just disregarded the gameplan.
this is the opposite of the greg jackson hype. every fight he gets showered with praise and every fight he says its the fighters not him. while im sure he has his place, i think hes right on in the responsibility of a fighters performance whether good or bad rests on the fighters shoulders.

Well, obviously the final verdict always comes from the fighter. But with how overwhelmed and lost Carano looked, it just makes me question whether her camp was "training Gina Carano, The Face of Women's MMA", or training a fighter.

The fact that both Gina and Randy were giving beauty pageant answers before the fight ("We worked really hard and we're going to try to do our best") just makes it look even more creampuff. You're right though. I definitely don't know whether that's true. In the end, Carano just looked unprepared to handle the onslaught Cyborg threw at her. That's just my opinion.

EDIT - Holy shit! I think I just time traveled. I responded to paz9x's post 20 minutes before he wrote it! WTF CAG???

Thales Leites was cut by the UFC. Pretty crazy, 2 fights ago he was challenging one of the best MMA fighters for the belt (though he really didn't give to much of a challenge) and he's out of the league. You knew they were done with him when his following fight wasn't even aired.
Leites cut? HARSH!
Yeah, but he shouldn't have a problem getting a job at Strikeforce or Dream.

how the fuck does him leaving the ring like that or quitting the fight early comfort anyone? he got embarased by silva and decided to quit before he could get hurt more. and the fact that that to my knowledge he still hasnt said anything about it himself is pretty bad.

It was posted a couple days ago that UFC had changed their mind. Yahoo

I dunno about quitting early. after re-watching the round a few more times my opinion is that silva knocked him silly, literally. I think the damage was done before that stepping back punch silva dropped him the last on. running out of the cage is something else, but i dont think he quit, he just got destroyed. that was a perforamnce from silva i think the ufc needed, despite him obviously being one of the best his fights over the last year or so havent been enjoyable at all.

he should fight jardine. stylistically he offers something to silva and i like seeing him get wrecked so thatd be fun too.

I think anyone who has watched Forrest fight can see that he didn't quit. Look at some of the abuse he's taken in other fights and he's never quit. He was simply outfought.
My friend and I who watched the fight were noting that it was a sexist stoppage; if it were 2 men the ref may have let the round end.

Cyborg won the fight and was dominating yes, but this is MMA can I see a proper towel being thrown in or a KO? Dokstarr, MMA writers and fighters were picking Cyborg to dominate.
According to Sherdog more than double though Gina was going to win it as compared to Santos.
Awesome news right here:

Little Nog is coming to the 205 division of the UFC! That is awesome. I can't wait to see him fight in the UFC.
Damn beat me to it! I can't wait lil nog finally in the UFC!!!!! Wonder if Ricardo Arona will be next? Mousasi will eventually be in UFC since all the best fighters are there.

Wonder if Hendo will move up to LHW for a rematch?? Shogun rematch definitely! Wandy vs lil nog, Jardine vs lil nog many potential exciting match-ups!

Only bad thing is if Machida stays champ they probably won't fight since they sometimes train together like Silva and Machida.

Those not in the know about Antonio Rogerio Nogueria check this out http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Antonio-Rogerio-Nogueira-2270

finally lil nog is back.

arona is a bad, bad man...or at least he was. i hope he comes back to mma someday in a really good frame of mind.

UFC 106? I wasn't aware they announced the line-up for 105 yet. Also, I'm I the only one completely disinterested in seeing Rich Franklin fight?

105 is in England and will air live on Spike TV, so chances are there aren't going to be any "huge" fights, although they did put Rampage-Hendo on Spike for free, so we'll see. I'm interested in seeing the Belfort-Franklin fight, but more because I'm a big Belfort fan. I like Franklin, though.

Not unless they changed it, its going to be on tape delay
Salaries from Strike Force: LINK

I like how Mousasi was only paid $2000.
Yea it's just for tax purposes I'm guessing, he obvious got much more than that.

He was very impressive though his strikes to Babalu reminded me of Fedor in Pride.

Cyborg was all over her that first round anytime she tried to move away Cyborg was on her the whole time and Carano was gassed. She was done after taking multiple strikes for a 11 straight seconds.

I want to see Cyborg vs Mike Brown or Uriah Faber!

Carwin/Brock should be interesting but I think it will be over in about 2 rounds.

One more thing I heard the prelims for UFC 103 are going to air on Spike for FREE for two hours before the PPV!

I got TWC I feel for the Direct TV people if this doesn't get worked out soon. I lost HDnet a couple months ago so now I have to hunt for DREAM online.

i'll be swinging by the local bar to check it out.

maia vs. marquardt is the most important fight on the card to me.
randy and nog are too old at this point for me to get pumped about this fight.

the rest of the card seems to just be TUF matchups.
Anyone getting/watching 102 this weekend?
I might actually see some of the fighters after the show.

The rumor is they're going to a club my cousin is a part owner of for the after party.

Another small tidbit, Randy Couture used to be my roommate's wrestling coach when he was a a high school wrestling coach in Gresham.
I wonder if Rogers will get Zulu'd by Fedor...
Quite possibly. It may go longer than a few seconds, but I don't see it getting out of the first round. I think Fedor will outclass him in every single way.

I don't know if this is known already or not but I was watching WEC last night and one of the announcers mentioned that BJ Penn & GSP are gonna fight January 31st. (for the UFC obviously)

GSP by greasing ;)

I plan on watching 102 at a bar like most of them.

Rogers has no chance against Fedor, no one in Strikeforce either(well maybe gegard).

I posted this in our UFC 2009 league thread, but thought others would get a kick out of it as well. Some of you have probably seen it before, but Bas always cracks me up, and this never gets old.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8s6KkwPqj8

(Wow, just discovered the Bas Rutten Lethal Self-Defense System has 5 parts. I want to burn this shit to a DVD and hand it out to kids at Halloween, haha :))

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

I'm sure these skills would have come in handy when dumbass Brian Urlacher was trying to pick a fight with Bas (here's another video for anybody who didn't hear about that one).
If this goes through this fucking sucks. I love watching WEC on Versus. It is also cool because they show a lot of NHL games, including lots of playoff games that we can't see otherwise.
I will go absolutely apeshit if this happens.:bomb:
