CAGiversary!
Feedback
28 (100%)
Hey, I am looking for comics. Anybody know where I can get some other than ebay? Thanks for the help. I am mostly looking for Marvel Comics. Also does any CAG member have any that they are going to get rid of? I am looking for Sgt. Furys Howling Commandos, if you have them. I also am looking for some DeathloK, a short series of comics called the Thor Corps, any What if comics, any War Machine comics, any 2099 comics, Damage Control, another short series called The Crew, and anything that has the Taskmaster in it.

Here we go, I went throught he closet over the weekend to check this out. i will have to put up prices later, i am pretty anal about the conditions, a few were not so good, but about 75% or so are baged and boarded with out ever opening them(i read comics in the store, then bought some that looked good and just put them into the collection. Some i ordered straight from marvel, like punisher and x men, so those werent iin the best shape, that was before i started going to the stores.

here is the funny thing: i just found a new batch of comics i ordered from entertainment this month back in 1994. I left for college in september, and probably ordered that in june or july, ETM was notorious for sending shipments out really late, they even got sued for it and went out of business.
THe point is that i just opened a new order of comics, with the fresh book smell and so on. I was happy until i realized I probably paid about 50-60 bucks at least for 20 to 25 comics. After inflation, that works out to about $120 of todays money. That made me said a bit, then i just laughed it off

this is about half of what i have, i will put up the rest later
marvel- for example i know i have the venom ltd series and the sabretooth limited series, but i dont know if i have them here or back in my parents basement
daredevil 183, 325

dark hawk 1-26

Doom 2099 #1

dr strange 28

Fantastic 4 #387

Incredible Hulk: Future Imperfect 1-2(2 issue graphic novel)

ghost rider 1-38 (1990s series)
ghost rider (1960s series) 10, 13, 17(sealed) and 18(sealed)

I have a few #1's from the 2099 series. I think ghost rider 2099 and Spider-man 2099. I have a pile of other comics. PM me if you are interested, I can make a list and take pictures of needed.

YES

i like the human torch cover better. Hell that is one of the best looking comics covers Ive ever seen,

Bigger geek alert

I doubt i would get much for selling it, i may have to frame it and put it up on my wall. Those marvels issues were put on really high quality paper and it shows. i think they were 6 or 7 bucks a the time(which translates to at least double that in todays money after inflation).

My LCS just got these nice looking 'comic frames' to hang on your wall or whatever. They're $20. If I had the money, I'd have bought one, but I don't get paid til next week and I'm switching jobs soon.

I would love to put my Captain Marvel #1 (the Marvel Captain Marvel from the 60s) in a frame. :)

Is captain marvel the dude who says "SAZAAAM" and that is the source of his power? when he gets a sore throat the bad guys will kill him! Oh no's!

OK now I dont feel as stupid. I didnt even know comic frames existed. For some reason I get the feeling that having framed comics up on my wall would be woman repellent. But really that isnt so different from having a movie poster up of films, I already have a framed poster of robert deniro from taxi driver standing in front of his taxi. and most of my friends are even bigger nerds than me so they would think framed comics are awesome.

and another thing, am I the only one who stopped buying marvel and DC comics after they killed off all their top stars and them brought them back to life?

I bought a shitload of valiant comics, dark horse comics, ultraverse comics, i think i even saw a few simpsons comics(radioactive man #1 !!!!!)

You could get cash for that one if it is this

that is the funny thing, first off, i dont think any comic, will EVER be a condition 10(gem). When they are right off the press, they are maybe 9.8 at best.

Still a very nice collection piece

edit

And the suggested "value" is comparable to the blue book value of a car. During good economic times, hardcore collectors will be willing to shell out $1000 or whatever for a super good comic. That same collector wont pay half that if they dont have the disposible income during bad economic times(like the recession going on right now). The entire comic collecting and valuing is fickle at best. ditto for baseball card collecting

I just got it last year, its a book I'd been wanting to get for years but never had the money for. No way I'd sell it. Its easily a VF/VF+

Thats true, I don't think I have ever seen one like that. I am going to be buying a hard to find comic soon. It will be the Ultimates 3 #1 Black Panther cover and maybe the Fantastic Four #554 Skrull cover.

LMAO, hard to find? Screw junk variants

Too bad out of current comics it seems like variants are going to be the only versions worth anything/the most in the future. Out of marvel and DC anyway.
Too bad out of current comics it seems like variants are going to be the only versions worth anything/the most in the future. Out of marvel and DC anyway.
Not true. Just look at all the Civil War variants that were $25+ when they came out. Now they're worthless. Wolverine The End Wizard World variant was selling for well over $100 when it came out. Now you can get it for about $10.

Yeah but those books in general went down for all versions. The variants are still the more expensive is what I'm saying. In the future if you have "Ultimates vol 3 #1 regular cover" and "Ultimates Vol 3 #1 white variant cover" I'm guessing the white variant cover is going to be the more expensive. Believe me I pretty much hate it. I like the days when you had one version and that was it. Now every issue has a variant and has to be graded it seems.

Ok, by default sure, if a book is worth $3 and the variant is worth $5, you're right. I'm just saying that its not going to be as big a deal as you think.

I just looked up Captain America #25 and those are going for about $7.

Variants rarely hold their value. You guys should be investing in high grade bronze age books, or silver age if you can afford them.

That's pretty much the best advice as far as comic collecting goes.
In about a week, my online store will be up and active. It will be @ www.comiccollectorlive.com and my store name is Issues Comic Shop. Thanks. If you do purchase, let me know and I will refund shipping for you. :)
I thought about using this site, but I have way too many books.

Is this the only CAG comic thread?

Haven't seen any other threads. I've been using that site, but apparently the file that I thought was my backup file wasn't so I'm not going to reenter my stuff for like a 4th time. Course, I'm dumping about half my collection anyway. Need the money and space.

Man that sucks. I think I will stick with my ebay store for now.

Oh for buying, no I've never used it. I was doing mail order comics because my orders were large, but I"ve decided to massively cut back and doing a handful of titles on mail order isn't worth it.

Did you post the list somewhere? Also, one of the moderators has an comic thread that she says anyone can use if they are trying to get rid of their comics.

Is it legit to order from?

This is the figures/comics section from my tradelist. Please make sure you read the section on my comics. I am going to ignore/delete any questions asking me how much I'll part out a certain book for. My intent is not to let people cherry pick the collection, I want to sell them all, good or bad.

COMIC BOOKS - I'm getting rid of a significant portion of my collection. These are comic lots that I am going to probably Ebay, but I will put them on my list for those that wish to make offers on the LOTS. These WILL NOT be parted out. Do not ask me what I want for Marvel Zombies #1 out of the Marvel Zombie lot. Its the best/easiest way I can get rid of chunks at once. As I go through these boxes, I will update these issues with notes, such as variants and/or signed books. Most of my collection is read once and straight to bag/board. There are comics that I've gotten off of Ebay, so I do not guarantee any grade. If you have questions or want pictures, just PM me.

Okay, just to nip this in the bud because I've should've seen this coming. DO NOT ask me to take pictures of about 500 comics. Seriously, if there's a specific book you'd like to know the quality of, I'm more than happy to take pics or whatever.

we shouldnt be investing in comic books at all. That is not a good way to make money- if you do, that is great. I put probably $600-$800 in the late 1980s-early1990s, and almost all of those comics that i paid $2-5 for are maybe worth a couple of dollars. In the early 1990s people would plunk down $5 for a "special edition" cover of a comic, that nonsense didnt last, as an investment, that was probably the dumbest thing to do, but comics are fun, not so much an investment, just a fun hobby. Looking back it was bloody expensive hobby

good god why are you taking pictures of comic books at all? i wouldnt be able to see the condition unless i was in person, to see any yellowing ot the edges of the pages or loose binding or small flaws. That would not show up on a pic. I am not buying or anything, i am just saying- pics wont help much imo. Unless you are trying to figure out what version of a certain title.

Ah, screw it, carry on. Like i said i am not buying i am trying to get rid of everything.

I have some books that people would be interested in knowing the condition of the spine and what not. Most of this stuff isn't old enough to have yellowed pages. :)

As an example, I have a Walking Dead #1 which looks great, but it does have a very slight blemish on the cover. I would put it at a VF/VF+. Not to mention when they're on ebay, pics are nice. :)
