Very "A Christmas Story" of you, no?
exactly. I even muted the "-ck."

and wow, its almost impossible to lose at Columns. Even when I was randomly placing blocks in order to lose, I was still racking up huge combos :)

Dammit, why does Japan get Puyo Puyo and we don't? The game has enough popularity int he U.S. to merit a VC release. I mean, Nintendo has put the game out for GBA, DS, and Gamecue in the U.S.

We did, its called Dr Robotinic's Mean Bean Machine. I dont know if Puyo-Puyo was released as Puyo-Puyo on any of the 16bit systems in America.

I have Mean Bean Machine on Gamecube from the Sonic Collection which I can play on Wii, but I want a non-bastardized version of Puyo Puyo. An English translation of Famicom Wars would be sweet too...but I don't see that happening.
Wait, so what games are coming out tomorrow?
Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Street Fighter II: World Warrior (SNES)
Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
Toe Jam & Earl (Gen)
R-Type (TG-16)

I have to say that the more I play my 360, the more the achievements mean to me. Nintendo could benefit from this and I would buy a whole lot more games with the desire to grow an achievement score. Come on Nintendo! 200 points for beating Castlevania IV...would make me buy it immediately.

you tell me when you beat Castlevania and I'll send you a PM that says: "You got 200 points." ;)

oh man, good games coming out tomorrow.

Mario and Street Fighter 2 are up.. I'm guessing they were put up mere minutes ago, as the script for the "points after download" page was all out of order and misaligned. Grabbed Mario though. CV4, TJ&E and R-Type weren't up yet.

//edit: Now they're up. But now I have to decide.. TJ&E or CVIV?

//edit dos: I don't care how many versions of it I have, nothing compares to playing a legal copy on an actual Nintendo system and having it work the first time without having to blow into the cartridge or the system or beat the system or anything. Point, push a button, voila.. i'm loving this VC way too much.
oh man, good games coming out tomorrow.
They are out now, just snagged Super Castlevania IV for 800 points and 114 Wii Blocks of Memory. Now if I only had a CC I would be set...

All these fucking years and I still can't time that jump on world 8-1.

Never played CVIV or TJ&E. Which one should I go for? I'm thinking CVIV, but i've heard good things about TJ&E.

Castlevania

I think I like the point-click-play aspect better (playing with the remote only).. I think i'll grab that Gunstar Heroes game.. Contra's cool and Metal Slug rules.. so.. what's to lose?
Holy.. sheet.

I think Gunstar Heroes is going to be my favorite game for the next couple weeks.
Yeah it is one of those awesome games, it is a shame it is short but once you bump it up to expert the shortness go away to hours of fuck you, lol.

Gunstar heros is pretty cool. I decided to get street fighter 2 and bomberman 93 for some multiplayer myself. I hope they release the original contra soon.

should i even buy sf2 if i have the xbl version of it? i know the controls are going to be better alone just using the d-pad on the classic controller.

No, just put the $8 towards the DOA stick if you need better controls. In hindsight, the snes version of SF2 blows. Tons of missing animation, smaller characters, only 2 elephants. Back in the day, I thoght it was perfect, but just playing the snes version in an emulator and then playing the arcade rom shows alot of difference.

That's funny. The more I play games on my Wii, the less I care about achievements in games. Never once did I finish a boss in Zelda, or a race in F-Zero and though to myself... wow I wish I would have gotten an achievement for that.

To each their own, I guess.

Anyone know how to play Super Castlevania IV with a wavebird controller? The games virtual console description said it would work with a gamecube controller but the load screen says "You will need a classic controller" and I can't seem to get passed it.

I downloaded Mario, Castlevania, and TJ&E. Mario looks GOOD. I never noticed how vibrant the colors over (480p does wonders). Castlevania is also awesome.

All the VC games say that. I just hit start on my Wavebird.

Figured it out. I mistakenly plugged the wireless adapter in port 4 instead of 1.

I never played any of the Castlevania's until Dawn of Sorrow on the DS so this is a real treat for me. Though, little bit of a shock to see continue codes. Now I have to remember if it was Axe, potion, potion, heart or heart, potion, potion, axe.

i got supre mario bros, castlevania iv and toe jam and earl, i am quite happy. ive been waiting for toe jame and earl since before the wii came out.

best genesis game ever.

No Zombies Ate My Neighbors love? If that ever comes out for VC, I'm completely sold on the Wii. ZAMN, Road Rash, and Streets Of Rage would make me very happy.

the DoA stick runs about $80-100 on ebay right now. I do agree that the snes version of SF2 is pointless if you have XBL SF2

pinball>toe jam and earl

I'm having a great time right now on this fine Christmas afternoon. I realized that I already owned the games made available today and that inspired me to pull out the ol' SNES and put in some time with Super Castlevania IV and Street Fighter II Turbo, then Super Mario Bros. on the NES. Even when the Virtual Console isn't necessary per se, it motivates me to break out the real consoles! I really feel like a kid again playing Mario on Christmas Day, what an awesome feeling.

Speaking of Zombies ate my Neighbors. I was reading Game Informer and it said it had a sequel called Ghoul Patrol. I have never heard of that game. Anyone here played it before?

I rented it back when it came out and didn't think it was as fun (or funny) as the first one. Of course, I was 13 at the time, so that opinion might not mean much.

I did notice that Wikipedia has a brief description of Ghoul Patrol on the Zombies Ate My Neighbors page that claims it was "considered by many to lack the heart of the original, and to have thus killed the series off."

Put me down as another signee on this Zombies Ate My Neighbors petition. We need Lucasarts on board with the Virtual Console! Metal Warriors is another game I'd love to see on VC.

wow, castlevania really kicks ass! beautiful sprites, awesome music

First time? Super Castlevania IV along with TMNT IV: Turtles in Time and Super Mario World were all my first SNES games. All classics too.

nope. short posts- on wii ;)
The Wii Virtual Console offically kicks the Xbox Live Arcade's ass all over the place for me.
I somewhat agree. MS really needs to step it up, but that discussion is for another forum ;p
