Yeah the only advantage XBLA is achievements, and yes the Wii needs achievement points. Like lets say if some guy here beats soldier blade on hard without continuing (which is super super super hard), nobody is going to believe him unless he had video or the achievement, or somebody watched him do it.
I wonder if he will end up committing suicide over that. For those kinds of skills to go unpraised would probably be the worst thing in the world.
Yes, achievements would of been nice.
Agreed. Achievements + Online play with VC games. Sigh. Maybe NEXT system...::rolls eyes::

It's not like every XBLA game has online play. Even the ones that do is a novelty at best because people stop playing them.

And Nintendo has never said they aren't going to have online play... the VC is barely two months old, who knows what we'll see a year down the line. It's way to early to judge Nintendo as being down and out already.

I'm just happy at the games we are getting on the VC, and the fact we get 100% accurate to the original versions. Can't wait for Super Metroid and Contra 3.

still, we can defend nintendo all we want, but I can honestly say that I don't feel inclined to purchase VC games without the acheivements. I am not sure why, but that would give me a reason to replay mario 64 and get 120 stars. Nintendo needs to get their act together.

QFT, ty :)

I find it hilarious that the VC is so bad in the opinions of certain people, yet those people still anticipate new releases.

Nintendo is Pavlov. You are his dog.

:booty:

I do think that achievements and online play will result in me getting Virtual Console games as opposed to playing them on an emulator. As is, I only plan to get the good multiplayer ones (Mario Kart, Contra, etc.).

Don't you mean bitch?
ANYway, does anyone know what tomorrow's disappointmentS will be?
What other one name sports games do we have?
Basketball? Football?
What other one name sports games do we have?
Basketball? Football?
I think that's it for first-party generic sports games. Now if they want to release Tecmo Bowl, I will buy it.
What other one name sports games do we have?

lmao, well I never played any NES Sports games.. (i Think I may have played Ice Hockey over a friends house..) so I don't know if they do have "Basketball" and "Football". If they do, then they shouldn't be too far away :(

I personally think when a Wii game comes out, that's first party, there def needs to be some VC games released the Monday before (which really is the day before since games come out on Tuesday). Example being, Mario Party 8 comes out in March. Sooo..wouldn't that be really awesome to put out Mario Party 1-3 on the VC? But we may like that, so that probably wouldn't happen :(

I'm only using the VC for games that I absolutely have adored and have no way of playing them (don't really like using Roms/Emulators), or games that I never played and get good reviews. I'd def buy more if there were some incentives..like everyone said before, achievements & online play.

But whatever :(
But then people would spend $30 on VC games, and (most) people would not then be willing to spend $50 on a Wii game the next day.

Well what about release one version. I don't think people would become averse to paying $50 after only spending $10. Especially because you're getting two separate games (and one that may build up anticipation for the other).

But who's making anyone buy the games? The point is they would have them available to buy if you want them. And plus, if you never played a Mario Party before..buying it for $10 is a good way to get someone to go out and buy Mario Party 8 IMO.

I would get all 3 original Mario Parties. Not all at once, but that's something I would do. For me, it's the fact that I'd be able to play Mario Party 1-8 on my Wii, and if you ask me, that's a great thing :)

Instead of a Wii GB Player- you can play any gb/gba game you register on nintendo.com for free on the VC? Eh, eh?
But a shit-ton of games are unregisterable- solution, give anyone who owns one of these games a free cookie.
fuck i don't even know what i'm talking about.

considering I just got rid of a new GB player for a ridiculous price on Ebay, this might be a good idea. I feel bad that people are paying so much for it...but good at the same time ;)

I can't believe the bitching going on here about the VC. Look at the XBLA, it MAYBE gets one game a week, and it's usually a horrible version of 20+ year old games. Then, when it gets a original game 9 out of ten times it's a shit-fest. No doubt the VC has room for improvement, but it's much better than the XBLA, and obviously better than Sony's online store. It gets good versions of, for the most part, good classic games.

We're not asking Nintendo to be better than Microsoft or Sony. This isn't about the console wars or being a fanboy. This is about what we would like to see on what is, in concept, an awesome feature with an awesome backlog.

I can agree with that, but we have gotten such crappy games latley...
Seriously, who would buy Urban Champion, Tennis, or Baseball? ANYONE?

Super Mario RPG and super metroid are the games everyone wants.
So when people see nes baseball and supermario bros., they should get mad.

Thanks for stopping in, captain obvious.
Played Super Mario Bros makes me want Mario 3 and Mario World. C'mon Nintendo!
Oh totally... the more I play Super Mario Bros I'm dying to play another one in the series.

I've already resigned myself to tomorrow sucking due to Warioware... I don't think the VC and retail games should be in competition, imo... it's not like Nintendo is going to release Super Mario World tommorrow and I'm suddenly not buying Warioware cause I bought an $8 SNES game.

Anybody know whats coming out tomorrow, for once I will not care if it is crap because I just had to reformat my whole computer and convert from windows to ubuntu linux in the past 4 hours(fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfucking Windows would not go on the internet at my college dorm and Ubuntu did so I am converting) and well I am not touching my new router until I get the new version of ubuntu (38 more minutes downloading) and maybe then if it does work then my hope will be back...
Please give us Punch-Out! tomorrow
Not even Japan has that, I think.

I highly highly doubt we'll ever see a VC game before the Japanese.

Just pretend it's Xevious and you won't be disappointed.

That stinks. I need to finally beat Mike Tys...I mean Mr. Dream.
That stinks. I need to finally beat Mike Tys...I mean Mr. Dream.
I mean, shit, I'd love Punch Out too, but Nintendo always give priority to Japan...always.

The VC tommorrow will go down one of two ways:

We'll get Streets of Rage or Biohazard Battle... maybe both. Sega promised those 5 games by Jan, we're already getting 3 of them on the 22nd. So those two should, SHOULD, be here on the 15th or the 29th.

The second way is the way alot of people think is going to happen because Warioware is coming out on Tuesday, that we'll get nothing but shit. My guess? Xevious, and probably another TG-16 throwaway game.

If you really want to dream and reach for the stars, Nintendo could put an AAA title on there. That would be awesome.

No!! Expect Xevious!!!

It's bad enough the 22nd is a garbage VC day already, I'll be upset if the 15th sucks as well. I hate days where only one system gets all the games.

No way it'll be anything good tomorrow, it's MLK day and therefore another VC blow-off day for Nintendo

We'll have to wait for an open weekend with no big events the previous week or following week to get the big games
Before I head off to sleep, when are new VC games up? Should I expect them tomorrow morning or what? PST, EST?
usually about 9AM pst they say. However they've had it up at various times.

Woo hoo, got my router to work, anyway yeah it is supposidly noon eastern time that is the official time I would guess. Anywho I just checked the shop channel and Nintendo put dungeon explorer as a new game finally, lol. Anyone else notice that, lol.

IT WILL BE XEVIOUSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

I actually *want* it to be Xevious because if Nintendo gets rid of all their shitty games now, it leaves nothing but AAA titles for the coming weeks... they will have no choice but to start giving us good shit.

And as much as I love shmups, I think we're getting too much... there has been at least one a week so far.

ya know, if theyre going to release a few "meh" games every week, why not release 20 and just get them out of the way. the catalog of games is in the thousands, cmon!

Making my guess official for tomorrow -

Xevious (NES) - Every other region has this, Europe just got it
Moto Roader (TG 16) - Europe already has this, Japan is getting this Jan 16th... this is a lock for the US, believe it
And either Streets of Rage or Biohazard Battle or both.

I'm curious to see how close I am, if I'm doing a good job accurately predicting how NoA thinks.

I'd love to think we are getting Donkey Kong Country, but forget about it.

What is Japan getting on Jan 16th, according to the Wiki?

Ice Climbers (NES)
Ikki (NES) - no clue what this is
Moto Roader (TG 16)
Contra 3 (SNES)

So we might also be getting Ice Climbers tomorrow... another low profile type game (but Ice Climbers is a pimp game that I'd buy, I love that game).

I'd shit my pants if it was Contra 3, though.

My question is when are they going to start including new N64 games. I can't believe that after around 2 months since the system was launched they only have one for that system, I wonder if those are hard to emulate for the Wii.

I'd imagine that there's more to troubleshoot in the emulation for the more compliated 64 titles.

Once Star Fox 64 hits, I'll be very happy. :)
