If one was to get back on topic, one might say that the first half of the Christian bible contains the torah as well as many other of the important Jewish texts regarding their covenant with God.

I know a fair amount about Judaism, as I had a Jewish friend from summer camp, went to her bat mitzvah, another in high school, and another in grad school. My friend in high school and I really started trading info about each other's religions. I was surpised to learn there was no concept of the afterlife in Judaism, as there is in most other religions. I also wasn't aware that non-orthodox Jews kept kosher, and what that entailed, until her. From my friend in grad school, I learned far more about the prep for bar mitzvah (her son was going through it at the time).

I know that sabbath starts at sundown, and like other religions, there are varying degrees of observance. I've also done a history paper on the conversion of Spain from Judaism to Catholicism during the Inquisition. In other words, I'm a fairly informed shiksa.

Oh, yeah, my grandparents did a trip once where they went to Egypt, Israel, and they commented on the truly spiritual feeling they got from simply approaching the praying walls, and that's from lifelong devout Catholics.

What do I know about Jews? I know they are the reason my Lord and Savior was crucified. I know they are still ignorant and believe Jesus was no more than a prophet and the Messiah has yet to come. I know they are trying to be saved by the Old Testament which will not happen. When Jesus took the human form and came to walk on the Earth and was crucified, the Old Testament was complete. One can only be saved by following the word of the New Testament.
"All religions reward you in Heaven." If you believe that, you truly are ignorant and I feel sorry for you. Heaven is a Christian belief. While other religions may share the belief of an afterlife, it isn't "Heaven." "All religions were created..." Who created them? God or man? In all cases but one, it was man. Christianity is the only true religion. Find the words Episcopalian (spelling?), Methodist, Catholic, Pope, Buddha, Hindu, Islam, Muhammad or Lutheran in the Bible. Find in the Bible where we are commanded to worship Mary. Find Baptist in some context referring to something other than John. Muhammad was an ignorant sheep herder who went in a cave and suddenly received the word of God from an angel forming the Muslim religion of Islam. The only thing he found in that cave was the bottom of his liquor bottle.
I'm stopping before I further offend anyone with the truth. I'm not worried about hurting anyone's feelings or making them mad. I don't want to be kicked off these boards though. If you're going to play the "where does it say ___ in the bible," let me ask you to point out where it says "abortion" and/or "homosexual" in the bible. Or, perhaps, where it says "marriage is to be between a man and a woman." Deuteronomy? Isaiah? Or Luke? I couldn't find any of them anywhere.

Lastly, let me pop this lil' self-righteous bubble you live in. If you spend any money on video games, you are violating what it means to be a christian according to the New Testament. *Usually Religious Read: non-extremist, Jews are probably the nicest people on earth. While they dont accept a lot of things that more conservative Jews might, they dont go out of their way to be in your face preachy about their views.

Well, my closest friends I know about, but it's because they are devoted to their religion and not just doing it on Sunday and Wednesday. If I don't know though, I am cool with that.

My statement was simply this: The Middle East will always be a region in conflict...we're seeing it now, in Iraq. Without any help from the United States or the Israeli's, she Shiites and Sunnis are going to war.......hello Iraq/Iran war all over again. A firebrand Imam has no clout without a rallying cause to solidify his power.........remember anyone who holds himself up to lead others is, by their nature, a person not to be completely trusted.

Religion is little more than a method of populace control. If Israel disappeared, I figure it would take about a week for an endless war to start happening between the various religions and demographic factions of the Middle East to start warring over "who truly owns what plot of sand"......and it will forever go on......the methods shouted about today "Get the Invaders out of the HOly Land!", blah blah whatever.....next week its some other group, the week after that its some other group...its the people with red shoes on, its the people who read the paper, whatever.

Our friend the Christian who posted to this thread is pretty damned convinced that his answer is the only one and the rest of us are fucked.

He probably also believes that Jesus was a white guy (probably the only one in the entire Middle East at the time), and that the bible was written in English, too.

Wow.........

I will keep this short. You believe in what you stated above because of faith and what you were taught (or arguably brainwashed in certain circles). This is same reason the people you attack believe in what they believe. Christians always say the devil knows the bible as well as god so here we go. Read Matthew 7:1-2. This the New Testament you speak of but seem to forget when comparing your religion to others. I was very involved with the church growing up and know the bible very well. You have faith Christianity is real. Mormons have faith Joseph Smith really found golden tablets and Moroni came from the heavens.

Christians have been attacking "non-believers" long enough arguably forcing themselves on the world for centuries. The bible mentions tithing but Jesus specifically states in the New Testament that the ONLY people getting into heaven are the ones that give up all worldly posessions to be closer to God. Not the ones that go to church and pay to pray. I will gladly post the verse if requested. I wish selective Christianity would stop and those that practice the faith really step back and look into themselves.

Not a sermon, just a thought.

You know what? I feel like making a list.

1) The level of cultural ignorance displayed in this post alone is shocking. The fact that you make such insinuations is appalling.

2) Were you there? Did you watch Jesus' Crucification? No? Then why are you so fucking sure that you are right? Religion is belief. You BELIEVE. There are no solid facts behind it.

3) Jesus was Jewish.

4) If Jesus hadn't been crucified, then Christianity wouldn't exist, and maybe ignorants fucks like you would be a bit more understanding.

5) I do know a lot about Christanity. As I mentioned above, half my family is black, and half my family is white. My mom was a Jew by choice. Now, doesn't it seem like Jesus was a forgiving man? A very nice man, who did not hold grudges, and was accepting of everyone? So follow his lead, and understand that you can respect other peoples' religions, and still have a firm belief in your own.
