Monster Hunter Tri

@KingBroly i lucked out yesterday, did two offline Lagi cap quests and was able to get 1 horn each time. First time i had felyne luck and second time i just broke his horn, chest, and ended up capping him. Both times i broke the horns...although i wonder can you break both horns? cause i always just see one horn broken.

I got to HR34. I'd rather get 3 Lagi Horns so I can upgrade to an 810 ATK/15% aff/1 slot Switch Axe than 2 more Monster Bone+'s for an 864 ATK/0% aff/no slot Switch Axe. Yeah, it's a lot harder, but it's the better of my 2 choices.

Need to do double trouble so I can exp over to HR40, I also got my High Sieglinde made :D this willl last me until Alatreon/Devil Joe GS.

yah i lucked out and found a hammer rustshard and upgraded that just now to a hammer that does 832 ATK, its sweet. I was running around moga woods and took on both g.jaggi and r.ludroth with no problem. Taking them on really made me feel like i made some progress, or really came a long way since i first started and use to struggle with them.
I must have like 15 Rustshards, but I have no idea how to make them into weapons.
It's a chance on appraisal to become a rust weapon, otherwise its just a regular weapon+. I've gotten rusted sword and rusted lance, I really want that hammer. I think I've gone through just about 50+ rust shards now, some people go through a ton and still not get any rusted weapons, all luck :(

There used to be a guide on how to increase your chances of getting a Rust weapon, but that might only apply to the PSP games.

Could I please get some CAG help on the Lagiacrus urgent quest? If I can get enough people together I'd like to try it later today. Must be level 14 or higher.

Last night I had two people helping me. We severed his tail and broke his chest. He was limping and had already retreated to area 12 to die when... my power went out! :bomb: It wasn't even raining when we started. At least I got in some good practice with fighting him underwater.

how does online grouping work?

i got my wii hooked up to the internets yesterday and joined some dudes room. he was already off on a quest. then another guy joined the room and accepted a green quest and waited at the exit (i'm guessing he was waiting for me to do something). so i grabbed the mushroom gathering quest and headed out, but no one was there.

You need to go to the board at the bottom of the stairs and join his quest. If you start your own then other people will have to go to the board to join you.

I always worry about the power going out or getting disconnected mid game, so i always save after a quest or two. I actually got d/c last time and thought i lost all my progress and carves but i guess somehow i still had everything when i reconnected.

Anyone want to plow through some ** quests?
I just unlocked them. :)

King, would you like to play together again, or was that boring for you?

I'm taking a day off from Monster Hunter. I need to recharge my batteries on it a little bit because I've played it WAAAAAAY too much this week.
Grrr. Baroth beat me in the eleventh hour.
I don't want to do that again tonight.
im lvl 22 and still not a fan of barroth!

Finally HR40, took a while to find smart enough players to do Double Trouble. I did it when I was 37 for others and it took 15minutes max but it was a good group, fast captures. My last few runs were 40mins each, sigh... this guy kept dying over and over 3 times :/ failing a bunch.

I'm HR35 right now, and I got a new Switch Axe which has about 4x the amount of green sharpness as my previous one. It's also quite a bit stronger. If I want to upgrade it again however, I'll have to fight Jhen a lot and hope for the best. I also need a lot more money because it kind of broke me.

I got the 10 Sharq Tickets I needed for one of the new Event Quests. It wasn't really hard since having someone with a strong enough Bowgun basically breaks the quest.

Basically, get the heck out of the way.

I upgraded a piece of my Rathalos armor to +, and for some reason it doesn't say "Rathalos+ Mail", just Rathalos Mail. I don't know why, though.

My problem is he hits me down, and before I can move out of the way he rams me.
Ugh. It's so frustrating. I think I need to boost my armor.

To be redundant, that's where the dodging comes in. To give you some context, it took me 48 minutes to beat him with no fainting using SnS. Once you get a handle on his patterns, it's pretty easy to avoid getting hit by any of his short-range attacks, so all that's left is to give yourself space to avoid his charges.

The keys for me were staying clear when he's flinging mud around, and otherwise just circling around him waiting for an opportunity to run in for a few hits before getting back out.

In the overall grand scheme of things, Sword and Shield are pretty terrible after the first couple of bosses. You need to upgrade to a Hammer, Switch Axe, Bowgun, Long Sword, etc.

For Barroth, it's good to let him charge you and dodge out the way. It's the easiest way you'll get close to him. Also remember that capturing is easier than killing.

If you get comfortable enough to be mobile with the lance you can just tank him. You can shield bash through his charge, get underneath him and stab away. Barroth becomes no problem that way.

I beat him! My third try. I captured the bastard after wearing him down.

One urgent quest, and then I'm doing four star quests.

Everyone has a preference, and although I do not use SnS, I think it's a fine choice. There is no "best" weapon" for this game.

Don't bother with SnS until you can get one with blue/white sharpness, they are really great for online play though, because you can status inflict real fast like paralysis.

I'm at HR36 now. I'm going to go play on the Advanced Servers right now to do my final 3-star online quest then do the last of my 4-star quests, which are basically just kill some minions. I did the 4-star urgent quest with a friend today, and it's kind of annoying, but it allowed me to get my first blue armor piece (Which I've told you all about).

I'm also one quest away from beating the game offline. I've heard it's pretty easy, so I might try it. It's only taken me about 100 hours to get to this point.

Last boss is pretty easy, there is a pretty cheap way of getting his gem too if you want to know.

You didn't get the armor+ because you upgraded, upgraded and armor+ versions have different stats and slots.

So you can still use armor spheres and armor sphere + to upgrade your armor and once its maxed you use '+ parts' to get your armor + right? and pigmentation as in you can pick your own colors?

Yes, pigmentation is adding 'flares' to your armor, like changing a part of your armor's color.

You can upgrade to the higher defense, but it will retain its slots and stats. End game wise you'll be mixing armor sets to get as many abilities as you can get that benefits your class, but I'll be mixing and matching the armor+ to get my abilities. I already know what I'm going for ;d

Defense Name Slots Gem
44~68 Bagii Helm+ OOO Handicraft +4
66~82 Helios Mail+ ---
62~78 Diablos Vambraces+ OOO FastCharge +4
66~82 Helios Tasset+ OOO FastCharge +4
64~80 Vangis Greaves+ OOO Handicraft +1, Handicraft +1, CritDraw +1
+7/6/4/3 CritDraw King Talisman Read Below Read Below
GS 0 Dependant on Talisman ---/O--/OO-/OOO Read Below

Skills: Sharpness + 1, Unsheathe Crit, Fast Charge

The guy who made this set, solo'd Alatreon

Hmm just solo'd both the event quests ;D had to use 2 of my own traps though, thought it was ready to tranq but he wasn't ready yet :(

I grinded out a couple of measly quests to get to HR38. One Advanced, one not. So I'm 6006 experience from hitting HR39 and it's probably another 7000 or so until 40. When I hit 39 I can do my Urgent which will be nice since it will help me with Rathalos+ Armor. I honestly think I should start combining armor pieces for better results (is that wise?)

I remember reading about SA, you definitely want Sharpness +1 or Razor Sharp, Atk Up (M) and I think either evasion +2 or evasion up or hg earplugs (these are more survival, if you aren't getting hit and what not you won't need it, but evasion +2 is good for hammer and SA) if possible.

Edit: so I looked at some of the SAs I'd go with Razor Sharp over Sharpness +1 until you can Alatreon's weapon, reason is because most of the SAs even with Sharpness +1 it doesn't really go up a sharpness level a whole lot, or not even go up a level at all. You'll rather want to continue doing more dps without sharpening your weapon so Razor sharp is ideal, but if you can get Alatreon's weapon and Sharpness +1 will raise sharpness over to purple, that's a good idea. Also you have to account for sword mode, the sword mode has ESP, which you prolly know, it'll go through tough surfaces no matter what, so Sharpness +1 doesn't help too much, of course axe mode does more damage according to damage formula though so you'll stay in it more but for Urugaan and Barroth you'll go sword.
Haven't played in around a week now... I feel like I'm newbie now, lol.
Same here - but I am still a noob. Wish I had gotten around to tackling the 1* online urgent quest before vacation, now I'm going to be terribly out of practice.
