Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe - Gen. Discussion & Info.

That review was actually pretty good. Changed my mind at least. Looks fun and great visuals. Now my choice is do I get it for $19.99 or Fallout 3 or Fable 2 at Toysrus because they honored the Madden 09 deal for me over the phone. but said I can pick any game I want for $19.99 instead since Madden 09 is still out of stock.

Or do I buy MK vs DC at Gamestop for $55 used - 30% and use a $30 gift card and just Pay $8.50 for it.


Hmmm.......what to do the cheap ass gamer in me says go the Gamestop route and get Fallout 3 at TRU for $19.99

Fallout is definitely worth 20 bucks and MK vs DC is definitely worth 8.50.
 
The Batman Fatality is the best where all the bats bite the guy that would have been gross if they hate left a skeleton.

Plus NONE of this is as BAd when Nintendo made Midway replace blood with sweat.

But as an MK fan from day 1 back in 1995 I think it was.

And the Disasters that were MK Aramageddon and Deception Deadly Allaince was passable, and so Was Zombie Liu Kang in Armageddon


Looking at MK vs DC. unlike past MK games looks like alot of characters have different stances punches and animations.

Granted alot are shared like Batman Joker Sonia etc all kick and uppercut the same But thats MK signature it would not be MK without that Uppercut.

HAd they added a bit more blood and gore I would have loved it. it Seems tame even by a T rating. They could have pushed that T rating farther. I blame DC.


Anyways had they added just 2 more charcaters to each side I am sorry I am spoiled by Armageddon's 62 characters


I would have loved

Batgirl and BANE on the DC side

and

Cyrax and Gorro from the MK Side

And I would have loved assist Characters like Marvel vs Capcom 2 unplayable but show up as assistants during special moves or sequnces.

Like Joker having Harley Quin show up during a Fatality or a throw because he and she don't play fair

or Robin showing up during Batmans fatality to do something.

OR have Tag Team Match ups.. Like Sonia and Subsero vs. Batman and Flash, where they can team up to do special moves.


Despite all that I will be picking this up for $19.99 can't beat that.

Must save cash up for Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter 4 in a few short months

2 Day 1 must by games back to back.

just finished both DC and MK sides. I like this game except that the 360 Dpad is god awful...i cant complete some combos becuase i either jump forward of backward even though im only pressing forward or back.(i hope that made some sense).

So who does everyone like to use? Im liking most of the DC side but im loving Kitana right now.
 
Yeah the game is actually very well done. I just wished they would've included more characters, and made the story mode longer. (Oh wait, I forgot that these days in order to get more characters and story we have to pay for that) :lol:, but the game is good regardless. Highly recommended from me.
 
Darn it. Seems like its pretty good not critically acclaimed but a good fun game. Too bad I guess I ordered Fallout 3 instead from TOYSRUS. For $10 and Free shipping.

After I complained about the $19.99 Madden deal toysrus.com prices are not honored at local retails stores they agreed and honored the $19.99 price on any game I wanted.


When I placed my order over the phone they messed up twice. So as compensation they took $50 off Fallout 3. And free shipping.

Now I am thinking I should have gone for MK vs DC since I really don't have 60 hours to devote to an RPG.

I preffer more pick up and play fun not a 2 hour quest for 1 item


What does CAG think Fallout 3 or MK vs DC did I make the right choice?
 
Fallout 3 is a Game of the Year type game where MK Vs. DCU will not be. With Fallout you can just do the main story and skip all the side quests and pass the game in a decent amount of time (probably 15 hours or so). I have taken my time and done every main quest, side quest and extra activity and think I am at about 60 hours with just the last main story quest to go. If you like pick up and play, then no RPG would fit that bill since all quests will take time.

With MK I am waiting hear feedback on how the UK edition plays on the US system but I did have fun playing the game at E3. But with the lack of many unlockables, I do not think this will have the longevity of some of the other fighters out there.
 
I just received my Kollectors edition copy from amazon but every cut scene stutters and major slow down during gameplay and was wondering if anyone got a copy like that. Also I hate the kollectors edition of the game. They did a bad job on packaging.
 
I gave in. Since it was 10 bucks off at CC I picked it up.

Not much time into it so far...I'm guessing I'm maybe halfway through the MK story side. Really fun though, as I expected.

My favorite characters on the DC side so far is The Flash and Green Lantern.
Ive played through the DC side in story mode and loved it. Cant wait for the MK side.
 
Amazon is doing an all 360 gold box deal today. The next one that starts soon only has a hint of "Johny Cage Vs. Ironman".

I'm sure it's not MK Vs. DC because there is no Johny Cage (who spells it that way?) and of course....Ironman is Marvel. Plus it seems a bit early to do a deal on this already. Still, I'm very curious as to what it will be.

Well it is the Collectors Edition for $45.
 
Really enjoying this game, was spectacle on getting it after hearing all the things they edited and took out, but it really doesn't effect the game at all.

I honestly think this is the best MK game since the Genesis.
 
Amazon are probably doing the Collector's Edition to get rid of them since so many people complained about the game coming in the cardboard sleeve instead of a real game case.
 
My interest was tepid to begin with, censoring the fatilities in a game made famous for gore seals the don't want deal.

I hope playboy will at some point try to cater to a larger demographic by cropping all but the elbows out of the pictures.

You don't buy a Mortal Kombat game for the in dept story or the deep combat system. If you want story, you get an RPG, if you want a deep combat system you get Tekken. MK's strength is its shock factor (which really isn't that big any more, unless your 12 or a mormon.) The old formula became blazze, so they deluted it even further without compensating for its other short comings.

That's silly. You don't want to buy a Mortal Kombat game because of an animation that losses its novelty once you've done it once? I mean, if you're really into fatalities, you aren't going to be inches away from your television explaining to your friend that it was indeed Raidens' brain that is on the floor after a fatality. No, you're going to be "OOOO"-ing in his face.
Even then, at least we have fatalities again. It's definitely a big step up from the "Kreate a Fatality" bullshit.
 
I'm having fun with this so far, got it from Gamefly popped it in for an hour. Anyone have problems with the story achievements? I just did the first chapter on DC side and didn't get the cheese.

A ton of people are having that problem. Last I heard if you play the story modes straight through then there is no problems. Thats how how I did it and got them all. Apparently starting, saving, and quitting makes it forget what you've done for achievements.

I got the first two on the MK side but after a while I saved/quit...guess I'll be starting over this weekend and going all the way through in one sitting.
 
Well I guess I'll start it again later and try to do it in one sitting. I played a couple rounds into Chapter 2 and quit and looked up the achievements and saw I didn't get it for finished Chapter 1. Any other bugs I should know about?

Man what crap. I just finished the DC side and it only gave me half the achievements. I don't think I want to go through it again. I'm not even going to play the MK side, probably will just send it back to Gamefly after playing a few more versus matches.

LOL yeah I like this game it a lot of fun , but its no were near as good, not even in the same ballpark as SC4..... story is maybe a tad better.
 
I am guessing DC placed ALOT of restrictions on how badly they could show damage on DC characters.

But very nice Sonya screens, I like.

Imagine if they would have been rated M.
 
Popped in UK version, it asked to update, I let it, and its fucking censored. Either the update did it or the title censors based on your live profile locaton.

edit: it automatically switches to censored version on NTSC console even with PAL copy. What a POS.

Well, a fun experiment, off on eBay it goes.
 
it'd be nice to play a 2-d fighting game one of these days....3-d games are snoozers, and they have way too many moves to learn.

The US version isn't censored? Why is the UK version censored?
 
The patch was to establish the lobbies, it did not alter the censorship. The game just knows that US systems are censored and PAL systems are not.
