My guess:
10 MK: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Lui Kang, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Raiden, Baraka, Kitana or Jade.
10 DC: Superman, Batman, Flash, Catwoman, Captain Marvel, The Joker, Green Lantern, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow. (Don"t know too much about the DC universe.
Hidden Character: Noob Saibot.
Boss: DoomsDay or Goro?

Midway has just released the render for Liu Kang:



I don't think there is anything special about the character design. I was hoping for something a lot more different, than his usual thing.

If you go to www.noob.com (which is Ed Boon's website), the previous picture that said "There will be blood" has been replaced with "TOBIAS?"

Not exactly sure what this could mean, either John Tobias is back at Midway or this could maybe hint at the possible appearance of Noob Saibot.

I hope this game isn't "canon." I'm probably the only one who gives a damn about the storyline, but the dude needs to be a zombie at least until a new, proper MK game.
 
Another thing I noticed was that when you used to click on Sub-Zero's eye, another screen would pop up with several question marks. Well now when you do the same thing, the question marks are still there except that some are upside down and other aren't.

Also this Friday Midway will be confirming the new characters.

In a game like Mortal Kombat, I think Black Adam would be a must. He just fits the atmosphere so very well.

If they're doing DLC of characters of costumes, then they can do a shit load with Sinestro Corps. Especially Sinestro Corps (or to lesser extent Green Lantern) Batman, either that or GREAT way to do cross promo with comics with DLC. Black Lantern Corps alternate skins would be friggin awesome (especially with the rumor that Abin Sur maybe the leader of the Black Lantern Corps, since dead and Darkest Night flashback happening in the comics right now).

Though if Black Adam is in it I want him to have the fatality like he did to Psycho Pirate in Final Crisis where he pushed his hand through his head and his eyeballs and brains came flying out.

GREEN LANTERN, JOKER!, CAPS!, IM HAPPY! I could care less about MK dudes since scorp and subs are my fav. I'm surprised at no Wonder Woman but Catwoman? Weird. Although if Kitana is in, WonderWoman was a sure deal.
 
yeah I have to say the more characters that have been introduced the more my interest has grown in this game it looks like its shaping up nicely.

Also here are the Q&A tidbits from IGN:

  • A kid asked about Doomsday being in the game as the final boss. The panel said that they couldn't speak to Doomsday specifically but would be announcing the final boss in the coming months.
  • Two folks in a row asked if the Teen rating was holding the game back. Boon said that they made concessions, but they're happy with pushing the limits that that rating entails.
  • No Babalities. Focusing on fighting and story mode.
  • Toasty-guy could possibly be in the game.
  • Boon did the most subdued "Get over here" I've ever heard.
  • They're not doing platform specific characters -- it would've pissed people off and it would've hindered the story.
  • They're looking into DLC.
  • No environmental Fatalities like the old school spike death.
  • Smoke's "probably not" in the game.
  • Different, unlockable costumes? Boon says there'll be differences so Batman vs. Batman doesn't feature too exact clones, but they're still looking into the different ideas.
  • If fans demand it, a MK comic book series could happen. However, there aren't plans right now.
  • Extra content -- stuff like the commercials, etc. -- will be in the game.
  • Cutscenes? Boon says "absolutely."
  • The game is broken into character-specific chapters. You'll play as the Flash for a while, meet Batman, and eventually switch to the Batman chapter.
  • A slideshow running during the Q&A featured concept art of the Fortress of Solitude as well as screens of Captain Marvel calling lightning bolts down on his opponent.
  • A guy begged for Aquaman to be in the game and be badass. Just about everyone laughed at this thought.
  • Create-A-Fighter not in.
  • Mortal Kombat vs. Marvel? "It's not in the planning."
  • The game's not coming to the PS2 or Wii, people. Get over it.
  • They'd like to do MK vs. Street Fighter, but there's a lot of legal stuff there, and just who would make the game?
  • A woman stepped up to the mic to say she was here to represent the female Mortal Kombat fans. Someone booed her. You have to love Comic-Con. Anyway, she asked how they created a story that dealt with two universes that were so different. Palmiotti said the biggest thing was crafting a story that made sense. He thinks they have it, but can't talk too much about it.
  • No in-game weapons.
  • There are no plans to bring MK back to the arcades, but there's going to be a strong online component. There will be a chat room-like gathering place to challenge folks and here about match results. There will be leaderboards.
  • The DC idea was presented to the MK team by its marketing department.
  • Boon says they got the DC characters they wanted -- recognizable faces. No Krypto, Bat-Mite, or Mr. Mxyzptlk.

My guess is about the same for MK.
I'd replace Cyrax with Baraka for my final guess.

Hal! Yes! Wee!

Joker looks delicious. However, Jax is a waste of space. Sure, he had a decent haymaker combo in Mortal Kombat 3, but there are so many different characters I would have preferred.

Unless you reference The Batman's dreadlock, hobo Joker. Then, well, that would make me want to kill kittens.
 
Where is the source for Jax, Kitana, and Green Lantern?

Jax was a lame choice. I would rather have a number of other characters.

Plus now that there are two female MK characters, Wonder Woman seems like a lock.

Just got from Comi Con and I'm disappointed that I couldn't find this game anywhere...I only had a few hours since the Hasbro lines took almost half of my time.

Yeah, the newest version. I have yet to see the Dark Knight....but the lipstick style adds a lot to the sadistic angle of the character. I probably don't see the Joker as being scary because of the Cartoon.....I always found that Jester Chick to be scarier.

I mean I love Ledger's Joker, but he isn't anymore sadistic than the comic Joker.

I want more outfits. I want The Killing Joke vacation/tourist costume for the Joker.
 
I liked Jax in MK2 when his whole schtick was just that he was a big strong black dude. Then they started adding the metal arms and all this crap and ruined him for me.

I would say comic Joker is more sadistic than Ledger's Joker, as seen in The Killing Joke (
shooting, paralyzing, and stripping Barbara Gordon
), Death in the Family (
torturing and murdering Jason Todd
), and No Man's Land (
murdering Commissioner Gordon's wife
).

As for the animated series', Return of the Joker saw Joker
abduct, torture, and mutilate a young Tim Drake
.

However, I understand how people could so highly-regard Ledger's Joker. One reason would be the difference in the mediums. Another, would be not having read the comics.

In any event, it doesn't particularly matter. ;)
