From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

All of my Hollywood Video stores have Gamecrazy attached. So Hollywood videos doesn't carry any video games. If Hollywood video even owns a flyer with this sale I don't think it would work for Gamecrazy based on their stupidity. So all the only way to get Gamecrazy to have the 3.99 preowned sale is this coupon COPPG399 if it works or have educated employees to search for a something to put in the system?

Damn... I've had pneumonia and haven't even bothered checking CAG since I'm also getting ready to relocate to Huntsville at the end of the week. Ah well.. I bet it's been raided already, but I guess it's time to check out the ole Gamezone downtown.
I don't remember exactly what the code was at Hollywood video but this was not it. Maybe they will work at both stores but you are better off to get the employee to call a manager or another store that knows about the promo.
The code was something like **GM399. I don't remember what the first two letters are. I don't think that they're HV.

Just came back from my Hollywood Video and their sale DID INCLUDE GAMECRAZY GAMES. In fact, that was the only place with used games so all of them were $3.99.

Picked up:
Ninja Gaiden Black
Super Smash Bros. Melee X3
Pikmin
Monster Rancher Evo
.Hack Mutation
.Hack Outbreak
Starfox Adventure
Starfox Assault
Resident Evil Zero
Metroid Prime 2
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess X2

All for $59.22.

I'm not sure where I can sell some of these and most of them I just wanted for my collection.

I'm so glad I gave it a shot:

Super Smash Bros x2
Mario Kart Double Dash x2
Mario Baseball x2
Zelda Twilight Princess
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 6
Shin megami tensei devil summoner ps2
Tales of Symphonia
Baulders Gate Dark Alliance 2 ps2
Eternal Darkness
Mario Tennis
Mario Golf

:) I'm a happy camper

NEED MOAR INFO NAO. Did the people inside the GameCrazy ring you up? Or did you grab the games you wanted and bring them to the HV counter? Please elaborate because of all the stores I've called (w/GC's attached) none of them recognize the promo.

Wow, walked away with about 17 games.
Gonna go to other ones. I'll post my list soon, if anyone can let me know if I did ok, that'd be great.

I dont' keep up with the TIV at GS or anything, so I picked out things that I felt did ok, or at least more than $4. ;)

The people in the GameCrazy seemed fully aware of the promo, as the manager was the same for both the GameCrazy and the Hollywood Video. They were in the middle of doing inventory, but they let me get into the GameCrazy section after some convincing.

Grabbed everything that seemed worthwhile (14 games) and even put some back... no super rares or anything, but some good and expensive GC games.

I took the games to the HV counter. The guy at the GC counter TOLD me to go to the HV counter. Then, they just rang it up as usual.

For the flippers out there here is a list of the gamecube games that sell for over 30 at gamestop (meaning I assume they will get over 10 trade in before the trade in deals and edge card)

Mario tennis
ikaruga
Mario party 7
mario party 6
metal gear solid twin snakes
pikmin 2
ddr mario mix
zelda twilight princess
zelda collectors disk

Picked up today.. They did make me rent 2.

GC Twilight Princess ( Complete )
GC Tales of Symphonia (Generic Box)
GC Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness (no Manual)

PS2 God of War 2 ( Complete w/ Both Discs)
PS2 Growlanser Generations (Generic Box)

Not too bad .. DId have to rent 2 movies ( + 6.60 )

I should mention, at first the manager said I had to rent 2, and I thought 'oh well', but she came up to me as I was browsing and said after reading the memo, I didn't have to rent anything afterall.

Only... they don't. Gamestop has been very odd and seems to really shortchange most Gamecube games lately. I was quoted $6.50 for Super Smash Brothers Melee, Mario Power Tennis, and Warriors Orochi (PS2) each. They are all sold for at least $29.99.

I'll post the trade values when I flip my doubles later, hopefully I'll make back what I spent so the games I keep will be free (as GS credit is as good as cash to me). I did call and ask about BG Dark Alliance 2, and they said 16 (before deals) so over 20 after...which I think im gonna do so I don't have to deal with ebay.
$39.90 cash into $236.25 credit

Force Unleashed - 18.75 before bonuses
Madden 09 - 20.00 before bonuses
Mercenaries 2 - 18.75 before bonuses
^^ All for PS2
Zelda Twilight Princess - 14.50 before bonuses
^^ GameCube

3.99 each

Add in a filler title, or grab something like Guitar Hero Aerosmith for PS2 if they have it. (10 or so before bonuses) as a fifth for the 30% bonus. You'll get about $106 for the five then. After that, do same flip to multiple stores. Profit.
Did you have any problems flipping the titles with the printed Hollywood video back covers? If not, because Gamestop didn't notice or don't care?

This just seems really strange to me that they'd have you check out on the HV side. I gave it a shot anyway at a GC attached to an HV. I asked about the promotion and they had no idea what I was talking about. They first told me that it was a $3.99 deal for dvds at HV, then I told them that it was specifically games, and they pointed me to the $4.99 dump bin. Too bad, there were some games I definitely would have picked up.

I had gone to a Movie Gallery last night on my way to vote, and they did know of the promo, but couldn't get it to ring up properly (it was only taking the discount off of one of the two games I had, but she said if she removed the other game, it removed the discount completely). I had them hold two games for me, and I'll be going back on my way home from work to see if they've figured it out.

Nabbed another copy of Madden 09. I'll be at $256 credit for only $44 cash spent. I win :D

Also got Okami for myself and another Rogue Galaxy for a friend.

I need to know if I need to print new covers before leaving work.

That's really pretty unbelievable. Even though I'm allowed to ransack the Gamecrazy, they have nothing even resembling new titles used in their racks. Is there a special place newer used titles or are they just with the others?

never had to rent anything when i went to my store to buy games...also, check ur games, cuz i had to take back a scratched up game after playing it and the game froze up several times or just hung at the loading screen forever...(i took it back and they replaced it with a nicer rental copy)...lataz.

Wow, anyone check the MICHIGAN stores? I know of one Hollywood Video that has a GAMECRAZY. I guess people are reporting mixed info if your HV has a GC...correct?
^ This.

I've bought games from Gamestop that were formal rentals because they still had price stickers and stickers on the disc. I guess you could always run into a DB that wouldn't take them.

I'm in Monroe. Don't know what our store has, but I got cheap games.

man, wish I had one local... I know of one, but I know they just started to get games, so almost betting they won't have squat.

Thanks...mine is near Mount Clemens....so I may check on the way home. Some cheap games would be GREAT. I could actually use my PS3 60GB backwards compatability.

Yea, all the RPGs I nabbed are ones I had to pass up before I had my PS3.

OMGGGGGG I HAVE A HOLLYWOOD VIDEO NEAR ME I'M GOING LATER THANK YOU ARGHh!h! Lol, thanks, hopefully I can pick up some stuff for cheap.

When I went yesterday nobody at my HWV knew about the sale. Today, there was a big sign about it.

Anyway, they didn't have any of the big new release titles, so that sucked. But I did pick up a mint Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the Xbox. Pretty sweet.

Has anyone other than GuardianE had any luck at a GameCrazy? If so, did they also have you check out at the Hollywood Video counter instead of the GameCrazy counter?

Didn't trade anything in but here are some values:
(all before edge and bonus)
Mario baseball gc 7.25
mario kart double dash 10.50
mario party 5 9.75
smash bros 6.50
mario party 7 8.75
mario power tennis 5.75
mario party 6 8.75
mercinaries 2 18.75

I'll be hitting up the local HV on my way home from work. One frustrating this is that the store locators on the HV and MG sites are horrible for this area. I enter the zip code and all it gives me is the one closest store. Then if I enter the city and state is gives me the same thing. One store only. So I'm going to have to enter in every local zip code to actually compile a list of stores. Why doesn't it list the 4 or 5 closest stores to your location? WTF!

I called the closest HV to my work, and they were aware of the sale, but a they had a few dealbreaking exceptions: the ymmv 2 rental requirement and that this was only good on games normally 12.99 or lower. weak.

I found the HV locator to be useless and did a yahoo search, which listed the 3 closest HVs. much better.

I went and got all for $4

God of War 2
Ninja Gaiden Black
Contra: Shattered Soldier

And the Simpsons Movie on DVD. ;)

There weren't much good at mine.. mostly just crappy ex-rentals in awful condition and lots and lots of crap like the GTA stories games on PS2 and sports crap. Some people might get lucky, but most stores are going to be loaded with garbage. All the ones I got were original cases, somehow.

Naw, this is bull. I had one store try to c*ckblock me like this and I told him to call his manager. 30 minutes later I had a copy of Mercenaries 2 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. :)

Yea, yahoo search is much better. Thanks!

Edit: Actually after looking at this list I know one of these locations is closed so I recommend calling any stores that are a hike for you to verify they are still open before driving!

I find it VERY hard to believe that GameCrazy would be doing this sale as well. I worked there for 2 years and even though the stores are attached/in the same building, they keep different inventories and pricing/SKUs. There's no way that you could take a game from GameCrazy's stock and purchase it from a hollywood video register without some major inventory discrepencies happening.. Unless they've changed that around?

Unless this is a sign that GameCrazy is finally well and truly dead or dying and they're ditching all their old gen stock in the stores?

Surely they give more than $4 trade credit for at least some of their PS2/Xbox/GC inventory? Why not just buy, flip, buy, flip, buy, flip?

The more I think about this deal the more I think it was intended to work on used DVDs 12.99 or less, but the Hollywood stores count used games in the same category as used movies, and the 12.99 limit doesn't apply. Rarely if ever did their promos work the way they were intended to on their computers..

It's not like Hollywood to be so generous with clearances like this. I remember sitting on 16.99 copies of bullshit new games for over a year they tried to push with their B2G1 17 and under games..
...this was only good on games normally 12.99 or lower. weak.
I was told it was $19.99 and under only after the worker called her manager. I asked her to try a $24.99 game anyhow and it worked. Also worked on the $34.99 used games (Mercenaries 2, etc.).

The only issue with that is that there is official signage that explicitly states the deal is for games. Maybe my GameCrazy is weird or closing down. I have no idae. It's the only Gamecrazy within about 50 miles as far as I know and they had no recent used titles like Mercs 2.

The signage at the one I went to only mentioned DVDs and only DVDs under 12.99. I really am starting to think this is a glitch or misinterpreted by some stores, since some are advertising games, most arent..

Consider yourself very lucky, then, or things have changed drastically since I stopped working there. It could be that Gamecrazies are transferring their used old gen stock to hollywood and clearancing it out in preperation to close down their stores and just sell GameCrazy's new gen stock in Hollywood stores, like how Blockbuster does it..

My local HW (Not with a Gamecrazy) has two signs, one for the $3.99 deal on last gen games and one for the 25% off current gen games. I saw no such signage at the one with the Gamecrazy, but maybe they hadn't put them up yet.

GameCrazy shouldn't be doing the $3.99 deal. The only "last gen" deal running right now is 20% off all PS2, XB and GC games. nothing about 3.99 preplayed games.

I wish I could feel incredibly lucky, but I've actually made out worse than most people here who only have Hollywood Videos around. The fact that I only have two within reasonable driving distance hurts my chances.

I was hoping you'd chime in eventually, and I figured you'd write pretty much exactly what you did. At least I should be able to get a few games from Movie Gallery (which I had never set foot in prior to last night).

Yeah I really can't see this working at 99.9% of GameCrazy stores. Unless they're closing it down and this is their way of getting rid of their old gen inventory, by transferring it to hollywood and using this deal?

Thanks for the heads up OP, didn't even realize that I had a Movie Gallery nearby or that they carried games. Not a great selection at mine but did manage to pick up Sid Meier's Pirates for Xbox and Romance of the 3 Kingdoms X and they honored the $3.99 price without a problem. They also had a copy of Digital Devil Saga which would have been a good find if I didn't already have it.

I can concur on this....went to my GC and they had the same deal...20% off only.

I went to hollywood video and they had the $3.99 deal going on for ps2, gc, and xbox. I spent $42 and made $129 in trade in value at gamestop.
So you guys don't actually have memberships at hollywood or movie gallery right?
No, I don't. The guy at Hollywood was like, "Do you want to put this under a rental account?" and I was all, "No" and he was like, "OK" and then I was all "Just give me the games and quit your yapping!" and he was all "You want me to come over this counter and beat your face in?!" and I was like "I'd like to see you try, chump!" and then we laughed and hugged tenderly for a moment before pulling away awkwardly.

OK, maybe not all that end part, but no, I don't have a membership and got the $3.99 deal.
