From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

Just did the rough math, in that store today I went 60 games x 3.99 = $240 approx. TIV is going to be $900+
Capa how much have you spent so far at HWV/MG? And how much credit have you netted?
That's hard to answer, I haven't tracked this promo as well as I usually do. And, I've rolled alot of the money back in, so it's hard to say. For instance, one night, I had $60 on me when I wound up in the same part of town as a HWV. I put an ad on CLIST for 2 wii fits, and went to HWV. The store had just done a conversion, and I got Lego BM, Mercs2, etc...I bought 16 games and traded them to 3 GS for $340 or so, and bought 2 wii fits. I sold those, and took $140 and cleaned out the rest of the HWV...this yielded about $500. So, when the night was over, I had 600 in credit and started the night with 60 cash..but you just as easily could say I spent 200 (60 +140) to make 800.

Last night, I basically got 2.5x return on my money....actually with gas, about 2x. Last night was rough, I hit several stores and had to keep buying the games that have total TIVs around 10.

also, I actually bought a couple of games at GS today to flip to BB, so if you account for that, you should be tripling your money from HWV to GS, and then adding 50-70% of the value onto it again when you go to BB, so $100-->$300 GScredit-->>$500 BB credit.

Overall, I'm averaging a little over a 3x return on my money (before today)...i.e. if I start a day with 150 to flip, I'll end up with 450 or so in credit when I'm done on average.

my gf and I have been puppy hunting for months, she finally found one she just loved, so I went and bought it without her knowing, and the day before I was supposed to surprise her with it, the breeder called to let me know it died. I found another puppy to surprise her with, I put a deposit on it today, he's the real reason I'm busting my ass to make as much $$ as possible during this sale. Between my real job and this, I've been leaving at 8am and getting back home at 11-12midnight.

I'm supposed to meet the manager of the HWV closest to me tomorrow when she opens the store so I can get a copy of the conversion sheet. I'll compare it to the one the other HWV gets and see just how these things work. I've got an air card so as soon as I get done buying at the close one, I'll post what I learned.

Last but not least,I have a new trading hiree starting tomorrow. She happens to be a bartender/dancer in a strip club. I wonder if any BB nerds will complain about her trading too much

Yeah, I think anything that has a 5.75 trade in base is good. I know for a lot of people that's not good enough, but you're doubling your money at that point (well, a little short because of tax) Done in volume, this sale is incredible. I mean, if you do 125 dollars worth of 5.75 titles and then go buy a Wii to sell, you'll get at least 250. Meaning you doubled your 125. I don't think that's not too shabby at all. And of course, you still do have some of the heavy hitters left, like GTA for Xbox and etc that do nicely for you.

LOL...the last time Kmart/Sears did that was for last year's Mothers Day.

That was right around the last B2G1 at GS though.

Maybe buying 2 and getting 1 free did it

She works at a strip club and needs a 2nd job? Damn, the economy is worse than I thought.

No, what you do is take that 250 and move it to BB, turning it into 400, then buy a wii and wii fit and your 125 investment becomes $375]

That's a good point. You'd figure degrading yourself on top of old, stinky men would be enough for you to at least break even on the bills you have to pay.

And to Capa,
Not that I keep a close eye on the Blockbuster thread as much as I should, but there's not a whole lot of amazing flips right now are there? I mean, I see a lot of stuff you can cellfire down to 13 dollars or so, but you make 7 dollars a game. Not bad, but there's more legwork in that for there to be significant meaning in what you're doing.
To be honest, I am looking at breaking even cash wise with a few Wii systems. After that, I'm just going to be sitting on some credit, which should fund my gaming habit for quite some time. I'm even buying some games to donate to the children's hospital (although some might want to call BS on me, but it is the truth)
I told the manager that I knew of several other stores who made the same mistake, so not to worry too bad, that obviously there was something confusing about the verbage. I just bought some of the older stuff I'd left behind before (KOTOR,SWBF2, etc)
I don't know how the verbiage can be any clearer - the signs they put up as well as the bar codes they scan all say "Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube" (or something to that effect) while they have a separate promo for 20% off the other stuff. The few times I've tried slipping just 1 next gen game into my stack of purchases they pulled it out right away and said it didn't apply. I repeat, you are one lucky bastard ;).
That's hard to answer, I haven't tracked this promo as well as I usually do. And, I've rolled alot of the money back in, so it's hard to say. Wait, so why do you have to use cash to make all your purchases? I can only imagine how much more damage you would do it you used a credit card to buy these games. I've been using Gamecrazy credit exclusively, but if I didn't have any I'd be using my credit card for convenience - why go through the trouble of selling a Wii on Craig's List just to have cash to take back to the same store you were just at?? Seems very time consuming and a pain in the ass not to mention somewhat risky dealing with that much cash on you all the time. I don't get it - use a CC and pay it off with the Wii money later
You got a 20% bonus basically for whatever you bought on a giftcard. (you spend $500 on GCs, you get a $100 GC for free). Sears and Kmart accept each others GCs. The last time, Sears was doing a 20% bump too.

Start with $1000. Buy $1000 in GCs at Kmart. YOu get 1200. Go to Sears. Take your Kmart cards and buy 1200 in Sears GCs. You get $1440 in Sears cards. Go to a different Kmart. Buy $1400 worth of GCs. Pay with your Sears cards. You get 1680 back. etc etc etc etc etc.

You're using legal tender to purchase an item. You arent misleading anyone. You are using no deception. Nothing is stolen...yes you are "manufacturing "credit out of nothing...just like we do when we flip games. No one HAD to allow you to do it, and in fact, most people get shot down and just quit. I got shot down a few times, that's part of it. Anytime I'm trying to work a deal or get something, I always find the 18-22 year old female csrs, they usually do whatever I want
Pure and simple what you did was KINKY, dishonest, and immoral. You took advantage of, as you said, 18-22 year old female csrs or other NEW or POORLY trained associates to RIP OFF KMART and SEARS with that gift card sham !

What is sad is that there are so many LEGAL ways to make so much money just flipping games between retailers and building credit which is not the same thing as flipping a GC promotion into 700% gain without ever buying or selling an actual PRODUCT, just a gift card !

For you to say flipping games AND your giftcard credit THEFT are the same thing, well they are not. In flipping games, we are merely taking advantage of market imbalances, supply and demand, and the liquidity and even commodity of video games used precisely to our advantage. We are still TRADING an acutal commodity of tangible value and not some CREDIT PYRAMID SCHEME all perpetrated at ONE SINGLE RETAILER.

With flipping games at least, it is the classic BUY LOW and SELL(TRADE in our case) HIGHER !

That is FREE MARKET, LEGAL, and ETHICAL.

To turn $1000 into $7000 without ever buying store inventory or merchandise and doing so all within the SAME company imay be opportunistic, but it is also DISHONEST and modern day technical THIEVERY.

This all is JMHO but I do not know how you sleep well at night.

Flipping is one thing and clearly you do that well in addition to ripping off untrained or new retail store associates by taking advantage of them through flirting with them or idle chit chat.

Also, your boasting is getting OLD fast. Just admit to us all you are really Kunai under a new alias. :hot:

End Rant....
Just out of curiosity...who's this Kunai guy?
His name's been brought up a lot in this post.
A CAG who was CONSTANTLY BOASTING and BRAGGING and thought he was king of the universe among other things...

Others could tell you more as PLENTY of CAGS had beef with him..

He ended up getting BANNED...

Yeah now I don't ever brag about scores I make(except I HAD to tonight)...and 75% of the people who bitched about him bragging do it now...this thread and the BB thread are full of posts of people bragging, and fewer and fewer people posting info.

Io-I have defaulted student loans that are in rehab, so I can't get a cc right now.

And Christy doesn't need the money per se, she's money hungry though, and works night shift, so has hours during the day with nothing going on..so I offered to give her something she could do for a couple hours a day and make some cash.

My take on the BB thing is:I'm going to GS already to trade the HWV stuff, if I'm already there, and if I have to hit 5 more today to get all my games swapped in, I might as well pick up 10-15games to flip, even at just 7-8 bucks a pop. That's another 100$. Or, like I said, right now, I'm spending 270 in GS credit to buy a wii, and then I have to decide if I want to sell it for 200 or 225 or 250. If I move the credit to BB, then I can move 180 worth of GS to BB and buy the wii. So then, the wii costs me 180 in GS credit, and selling it for 200 or 215 doesnt sting. It doesnt make sense for most people because you want the most profit per dollar moved as you can get because of the limit, but I'm no longer constrained by any one trade limit.
Also, your boasting is getting OLD fast.
End Rant....
What boasting? Are you whining about my score last night? Did you not want the details? You didn't want to see what could still be found out there? You don't want to know how I got the next gen stuff at 3.99? There were alot of other people who wanted the info. Why don't you go bitch at people posting pics because they found 4 mario games, or bragging about making 70 bucks over two days? I quit bragging about my volume, but for some reason you keep bitching. Now you're bitching about me posting how you might be able to swing next gen stuff for 3.99. I guess we should ask everyone if they want me posting info and tips I discover, and the inside info I get from all my managers, or if they agree with you that it's just boasting, and I'll quit talking about what I do, and quit trying to help everyone else here score like I do.

I wonder how many of the bitchers are just people who can't pull off the big deals or are afraid to try.

Heres my helpful hint for today:
At MovieGallery (not sure about HWV yet), I was telling the girl how I was driving to any HWV or MG within 2 hours from my home to buy their sale games. She punched something on the computer and BAM-a list of EVERY MG in the state printed out. Those of you having trouble finding stores, go to your closest MG and have them do it.
Hmm i just searched Kunai and i do not see any of his posts
lol as many people have said b4...he was banned...from CAG for posting fake coupons..so you won't have any luck finding him
lol as many people have said b4...he was banned...from CAG for posting fake coupons..so you won't have any luck finding him
Actually, he's still listed as a member and doing a CAG name specific search brings up not only the threads where his epic boasting has been mentioned lately, but also several threads he started.

The link below is JUST to his profile/info on CAG(which is still up for MANY other banned members as well):

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/member.php?u=40104

So, it's not IMPOSSIBLE to get a good idea of what DJKunai(his full CAG name) was like and make the inevitable comparison to Capa.

Going to check today. Someone want to fill me in a bit about BB? What are some games to buy at GS and take to BB? I guess I'll read the BB thread but it's friggin long! I need some cliff notes.

Capa - everyone's said it already but DAMN! And about getting a printout of all the games in stock at all MG, that's awesome! Does HWV do that too? Talk to a manager?
ok guys, back on topic. are they pulling new games to add to the sale today as i had heard they do? When are you guys going back to check? Today, tomorrow?
Plz, we been off topic many times

No, it wasn't a printout of games in stock -- it was a list of stores around.

Just like the Gamestop tiered trade deal thread, the first page of the Blockbuster thread has lists of decent games to flip. I know that when I asked the other night, Mercs 2 for PS2 got $12 there by itself.

The 09 sports games are getting an average of about $9-16 there, depending on the title from what I've seen. I didn't ask about Lego Batman or SW:FU for PS2, but I'd assume that the TIV there is comparable to the GS base.

Basically, any newer games are going to fetch you more, but like any games depending on volume and age the prices WILL decrease.

Wow
Only 3 next gen titles here.
Each store might have a different list based on inventory, so these titles SHOULD be converting if the store has them, plus others if your store has overstocks

Spyro-wii
BF Bad Company
Hulk Wii

thats it from here

Capa, thanks for the tip of finding the stores, I found 2 I am going to hit up today. I'm just going to call first and make sure they have the sale going. I HIGHLY doubt I'll be lucky enough to get next gens for $4, but if so, I may just pass out from excitement.

Let us know what you manage to grab :)

only 3 games.

all stores should b pulling these. other stores will have more pulls if they have overstocks

I just called one of the stores that is like 12 miles away, lady wasn't very nice and the few games she named that they had were junk. She said they had 30-40 games but so did my local MG and they were all crap. I'm an idiot and didn't ask if the 3.99 was for 360 games also (which I knew wasn't but she might have been dumb and said yes)

dont ever ask that. if they don't know, and you ask, you give them a reason to go find out. If you are in store, purchasing , and they don't know, they are undedr pressure to get the deal done and might just try it to see if it works

Well I didn't ask -- I originally asked her how many they had, and she just started naming them. I had to ask again and then she said around 30-40.

Think it's still worth a shot to go and look? Also - how do you figure out if they will do next gen games for $4? You ask (pretending you are dumb saying something like "Are the 360 games $3.99 sale too?") or just stick a game in there? If you just stick a game and she starts to ring it for 'full' price -- then you can't really say "Oh I didn't know I put that in there" b/c it'll look so suspicious.

first, it looks suspicioius to you because you are trying to do it. I promise you that if you pull something out and don't buy it, the CSR is not going to think"I KNEW IT...HE WAS TRYING TO GET NEXT GEN GAMES AT 3.99!!!!!!!!"

Everyone has their own way, but you really need to play it by ear. The first time I did it, I had bought 12 games or so, and as she was pulling them, I found a next gen game and told her at the last second to add it. I think she just did a brain freeze and didnt think to run it on a different promo. The 2nd time, I had put 2 next gen games in a stack of 35, and as he was starting to open the cases, I said"wow it's a shame you cant just run the coupon once"..he agreed, then I made a point to count all the games out loud, and said"yeah you have to run that coupon 35 times"...I was putting the idea in his head to run it on every game, hoping that because they were so busy he wouldnt notice.

Instead, the CSR next to us asked the asst manager and she told her point blank to use the 3.99 on all of them...at this point I excused myself from line and took as many next gen as I could.

NOTE MOVIE GALLERY CANNOT DO THE NEXT GEN STUFF AT 3.99. THEIR POS SYSTEM WON"T ALLOW IT TO GO THROUGH.

basically, you don't want to alert them on the phone, its much easier to say no on the phone than it is with a store full of customers and you're trying to get them through the line faster...it's easier for them to make a mistake if they know about the different promos, or if they don't know, it's easier for you to convince them to run it in person(say "well, just try it and we'll see if the computer allows it to go through"

Well I just got back from one store, it was even worse than the one yesterday, they had like 20 games all crap but I just got Family Guy (PS2) for $3.99 Better than nothing.

I was going to make a run to another store about 20 minutes away but I'm tired of driving around and not getting anything good so I think I'll just sit it out. Guy on phone said they had about 40 (which is what the lady told me from the one I just got back from and it was nowhere near 40). I'm sure it's cleaned out anyhow.

I'm just hoping they will start converting rentals to pre-played so I can go to the closest MG near me since it was the best even though they were cleaned out.

Hey you assholes giving Capa a hard time, stfu.

This guy could just as easily be lurking and making his money, but he's helping the amateur flippers like us out by giving out his secrets. He's one of the most useful posters in these flipping threads and everyone should be thanking him for his insight.

Damn jealous kids.

Sorry to double post this but I thought it was important-er than an edit.

Called my HWV's today (I'm getting to know the employees, it seems, and one I used to work with at an old gamecrazy) and they had no new game rental conversions to sale..

Well some Cat in the Hat game for PS2, but nothing worthwhile. This was in Milwaukee, WI.

I... don't see his insight. Yeah, he's provided trade in values, which are appreciated, but we can all do that. I've taken a blind risk on a handful of games to see if their TIV was good or not. Does this make me a hero? I would like a cape and crown, please.

Well I don't see anyone else talking about this week's rental conversions, do you?

He also helps with suggestions for converting credit to cash. I've been doing the GS credit - BBV credit thing now too because it is like an extra bonus to the credit.

I just haven't found much worthwhile to flip back to cash over.

Either way the hate isn't warranted and is totally because you guys are just jealous that he works the system so well. I never said he was the king of CAG, just no reason to give him such a hard time.. I'm jealous of his next gen $4 buys too, but I'm not whining about it..

I even had a HWV employee I knew try to ring the $3.99 coupon on a 360 game and it didn't work here at all.

Wow, who's acting like the juvenile child swearing at other CAGS now ? And you are calling me a jealous kid ? LOL.. :booty:

Son I've made thousands many times over flipping and never come here to BOAST of such and I have been contributing to MANY flipping threads that just because you are the "new kid" on the block you are not aware of them.

So check yourself before cursing out other CAGS. My post was directed at Capa and the morality of the SEARS/KMART FRAUD FLIPPING turning $1000 into $7000 without EVER buying any physical inventory or store merchandise. I spoke my OPINION which is VALID as any other CAG on here so step back and wash your mouth out with soap. Profanity and rude insults are not tolerated here on CAG ! :whistle2:#

I also told CAPA he should BOAST less. I think the info he provides is usefull and a hellofalotta effort which helps everyone, just a little less bragging would be my personal preference, but maybe I am alone in that. CAPA has also LASHED out at other CAGS like a bit of a know it all which isn't cool either. Somehow he has crowned himself the king of flipping ! lol...

His response to me was valid and free of INSULTS or juvenile NAME CALLING or CURSING. You idolize him so much, you could at least follow his courtesy lead.

I'm done now. Sorry for the thread clutter but the quoted post deserved a response.

NOW, Off to check a HWV for any rental conversions...

P.S. I am no jealous kid either, those that know me know I am a 37 year old gaming dad with 3 boys who needs to check into FLIPPING anonymous because of how much time I've spent and THOUSANDS I've made despite me not boasting on the threads of such. Oh and lest someone call B.S., I have every darn Gamestop/HWV/BBV receipt from all my flipping.:D

I think the reason no one is talking about rental conversions is because it's Sunday and they just got the list. The reason I dislike Capa is because he comes across as a priss primadonna on occasion. I'm not jealous, and I don't think many people are. ;)
