From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

Picked up about 10 games over 4 HWV. Everything has been picked clean. I got word from 2 stores that it ends tomorrow. The games I got were nothing good... Family Guy, Lego SW II, CoD3 and a few others. Still have 14 games left to trade in before the GS 30% ends but about 6 games I want to play but no time for them.

Just so I'm clear you guys were told it ends today meaning the last day it was valid was yesterday (saturday) or today (sunday)? I think you mean it is still valid through today.

lame HW mgrs changed the promo last week to reflect its good only on $14.99 & under. good thing i got quite a bit at those stores before they put up signs with the "$14.99 & under only". anyone know if there is a way to have this changed thru corporate? or is this really upto the mgr's discretion?

I think BB is now selling Gears of War for $20, but it is the 2 disc version. Will HWV let you trade in the 2 disc version for $30? Or did I recall someone not being able to trade that one in.
Word of caution-- I bought a Gears of Wars refresh (the one with the second bonus disc that was released earlier this summer) and the HW computers would not allow the trade. Completely bogus, but that's all right. Just keep that in mind, may be like that at your guy's stores.
And GS has B2G1 now.
You can get 3 copies of GoW for $48.58 so $16.xx each.:D

EDIT: B2G1 ends today..but you can still use the cellfire coupon to get a copy for $18.xx

I've yet to see any rental titles pulled in Phoenix, so I've given up. I did flip 2 GOW's for $60, and got the guy to put it on a gift card even though he didn't think he could. The first HWV I went to for the trade the chick couldn't figure out how to do a trade, and she was suspicious of the TIV of $30 because she knew they sold new for that. She told me she couldn't do the transaction because something wasn't right in the system. Fortunately, the next store did it with no questions asked.

By chance, does anyone know if you can use a HWV giftcard @ GameCrazy? I figure they are separate from each other, but if not, then I really like this deal even more.

Yes, You can.

The 3.99 sale snt ending today, it's teh DVD sale that's ending. The manger at the local store todl me tonight when i was in there, My store has been picked over so throughly that I doubt they'll sell anymore unless they drop it to 1.99. The owner of the local game store did tell me that he stoped at a HWV acuople states over that hadnet been picked through yet and grabbed some goodies So there are still some virgin stores out there.

You definitely can not go between Movie Gallery and Hollywood Video. Found that out today.

I went to my local store to see if there were any new pulls and noticed big "LAST DAY" signs up in the windows for the $3.99 DVD deal - but nothing concerning the $3.99 game sale. The problem is I couldn't get in and check more thoroughly because I forgot they close at 10pm Sun-Thurs. I was there just after 10 - d'oh!

I'm actually somewhat surprised they are not continuing the $3.99 movie sale, or even making it better (like $1.99). I mean, they have metric tons of movies and they barely got through any of them with the $3.99 sale. Are they expecting to mark them all back up to $9.99 or $12.99 or whatever and have them sell? I bought a few and might have gotten a few more tonight if I had gotten in, but I only did it because I had some cheap credit to burn. I've seen a few people pay cash for them, but they have 1000's left in my little local store and every other I've been to.

Now, the games, on the other hand, are running low and as someone else said the stuff they have left is pretty much crap - it also won't sell till the prices drop to $1.99 (and even then...).

And yes, I can verify 100% that HWV and GC credit is interchangeable. I bought nearly all the games I got at HWV with GC credit and then on BF I bought a DS at Gamecrazy and for part of the payment used one of my $30 GoW gift cards from HWV ;).

One HWV I was at even had "Gamecrazy" themed gift cards. However, they couldn't activate them for some reason - so I just got a regular Hollywood one (which is the one I used at GC anyway).

well, I got off work early today so i'm going to check some local Movie Galleries that I forgot about to see if they have any good games left.

Well.... is it still going on? I'd hope they drop the $3.99 down to $1.99 for their crap games because then I'll buy whatever they have left as long as the GS credit gets me $2.50 and up.

Haven't been out yet today...I guess I'll have to drag myself out that way, for curiosity's sake. I think a lot of the employees here just giggle when I come in now..."here's that cheap game guy". Let them keep laughing while the GS credit and free games just keep rolling in...;)

20% off cellfire coupon + 10% edge + many of us already have credit at GS thanks to this sale and others..so using credit (at least in GA) eliminates tax...so it comes out to under $18 :whistle2:D

It is only about 10 profit, but the catch is that you can parlay the $18 in GS credit into the 30 at HWV and then that 30 can be turned into 80 or so in GS credit without too much trouble. It's the second step of the process that yields the big results.

Yep, good advice...now, just do that a couple more dozen times, then you're swimming in more free games, credit, gift cards, etc. than you can shake a stick at!

Exactly!
I've made 1000+ in GS/HWV credit by doing so.

I just got my little brother a Xbox 360 and a bunch of games for Thanksgiving and he's been really busy playing all those games.:D
So...if you want to trade in games at HV, you just ask them and they'll take it?
You need a membership first.

Well for those that still have games at their store left, the sale is still going on. All the signs for the $3.99 DVDs are gone though. I had 1 store put out more games but nothing of value. And wow.... just wow. GoW still sells for $30?? Even if I did pick up $30 in games with that credit, there's nothing of value left. I'm done seeing the smiling faces of the employees when I go in. I've got enough credit to last me a little while. This has been a lot of fun while it lasted (and lasting).

Agreed it has been a blast, but both stores in my area are totally cleaned out of anything good. I just used up the remainder of my credit and it was all worth it.

Noooo! We can't let it die. I swear man, I heard there's a virgin untouched HWV just 8 hours away; marvel vs. capcom x6, pikmin 2 x10, etc...ROAD TRIP!
whats the cheapest place to buy GoW1?
Target YMMV. It's clearanced out so good luck finding one (I found the last one at my store for $9.98).
