So I was hanging out with my buddy yesterday... not really doing much of anything, when it happened. I picked her up from her house and decided to get some food. She wasn't hungry. I go inside Popeye's and come out about 10 minutes later with a box of popcorn chicken and fries... mmm.

When I get to the car I see her with a needle in her hand and not much else going on. Her eyes are rolled back in her head and she's not breathing. I start to freak out.. I've never had this happen before.

Now, let me explain one thing. I knew this girl had had problems with heroin but she had been honest with me about her use.. we used to use together a lot (I've been clean for a few weeks now). She told me she had been clean for about a week at that point but was interested in getting high again... so, she did.

I start to spray her with cold water and slap her around a little bit, but to no avail. So I sit there for a minute and think. She could die... and it would be my fault. I decide to fly to the hospital... and that's exactly what I did. I turned on my emergency blinkers and took off... hitting about 90mph in a 40mph zone. This was probably the most exhilerating, complicated driving I've ever done. I hit the highway and went about 110mph on the shoulder until I got to the hospital's exit. I flew through about 10 red lights and while it felt like about an hour, the trip took less than 10 minutes. I'm sure I pissed a lot of people off and was pretty surprised I didn't get stopped by any cops, considering that this was a major road with a police station on it. Anyway, I pull up to the ER and run inside.. I look around and everything feels surreal, like a dream. I just yell "Can someone help me out? She overdosed!". At that moment, about 5 paramedics rush to my car and I help them get her out.

I spent 9 hours at the hospital. Luckily, she had a strong pulse coming in and surprisingly didn't need anything to wake up. However, when she did, she thought she was dead and started saying things like "Am I dead? Why am I not dead?". Some lady came out and told me they put her on suicide watch and asked me if I thought she wanted to hurt herself. I told her no.. So basically I was with her while she cried and had tests done and was in a slightly embarassing lack-of-real-clothes situation. Eventually we got out.. went to my house.. and I drove her back in the morning.

It was wild.

Whatever happened to keeping some things to yourself? And since I don't know you or your friend, and never will, I won't bother to post some phony "That sucks I hope she gets better" comment.

And instead of putting your life and the lives of others in danger, you could have called a damn ambulance.

Oh yeah, and congratulations for being clean for "a few weeks".

I'm confused on your stance with this...

Are you seeing this as a reality check or a crazy story to tell? Maybe both? Scary deal either way.

Well.. I could.. but this is the internet, so why not? I figured that by sharing on the off-topic forum, I might get some interesting responses.

Both. But what can you do in this situation? I tried to explain that she scared the shit out of me, and the way to repay me for saving her lfie is by not doing stupid shit like this again... but there's nothing I can really do except support her and be a good friend. What she does from here is ultimately her choice.

Seems like she knew heroin would kill her or maybe she wanted to die.

I say stay away from her. If she's willing to do something that she knows can and most likely will kill her/ ruin her life, then that burden shouldn't be put on you to save her.

It's not like he doesn't shoot up either, so who gives a fuck? Let 'em ruin each other's lives.

Actually I don't... thanks for assuming asshole.

Wait. I completely ignored that part.

Wow. I'm not going to get all " holier than thou" here, but maybe, just maybe, this will make you reconsider doing it. But what the hell, life is too short to NOT fuck it up. Right?

Clean for a few weeks. Good job.
It's not like he doesn't shoot up either, so who gives a fuck? Let 'em ruin each other's lives.
Super agreed. :applause:

And OP, you said that you do in your story. Just because you haven't "in a few weeks," doesn't mean that you've never done it and that you won't do it again.

My life is fine. I'm a straight A student and I never miss a day of work. Yes, I do drugs occasionally. So what? As long as I'm responsible why should it matter?

Sure ya don't.
For now...

You call heroin RESPONSIBLE? The fucks' amatta with you?

I said I haven't done any.. that doesn't mean that I used to shoot up. I snort it.

That's fucked up. my brother died from an overdose...still can't say I'm sympathetic, since using heroin was her (and your) own horrible decision to begin with, but maybe she'll learn her lesson now.

Good job on the few weeks of sobriety though and keep it up man.

Oh, that's much better.

I don't get it. Why didn't you call an ambulance? That would have been the smart thing to do. Who know how many accidents you may have caused driving over 100 MPH and running red lights. You could have killed yourself as well.
Oh, that's much better.

I'm having difficulty seeing how being a drug user makes you inherantly irresponsible..

Anyway, I knew that this would be turned around on me but figured I'd post anyway..

I'm fine, I don't need or want your advice as to how to live my life. I posted this just to talk about my experience. It's somewhat of a relief to get it all out ya know?

You're right.. but I didn't fly through the red lights.. I slowed down. The 100mph was on the highway shoulder. There were a few close calls but the AWD kicked in and saved the day.

He got off on it. He wanted the thrill of driving 100 mph and having an excuse in case a cop pulled him over for it. Just read the way he said it was "exhilerating" despite the fact that his junkie friend was dying next to him.

damn. anonymous does not forgive  but really, none of you guys are saying anything Phrostbyte probably hasn't heard.
No sympathy.

*Is straight edge*

Will she suck dick for heroin? If she does, send me a PM.
and you're just a cock all around. Please stay in the wii forum.

Coming from someone that's been through it.. that actually means something to me. Thanks.

You're partially right. A few things came into play here: 1] I was scared 2] I wasn't thinking right 3] I didn't want to just sit there and freak out while waiting 4] I knew for a fact that I would be quicker than an ambulance/cop

After I explained this to the doctor, she said I did the right thing.

I am saying something he probably hasn't heard before.

Seriously man. Barter with me. Would I need a paper bag? Is she hot? Does she have a Wii?

Details man! Details! I'm not judging you!

I mean, the guy is a totally logical person. What with the drug abuse and all...

Booze, weed, and 'shrooms? Alright, you've got yourself a case.

But you're snorting heroin for fuck's sake. Does anyone really need to spell it out for ya?
Yeah hilarious..
You never know. She might be up for it. Did you ask her? Besides would you like another 'you are irresponsible' post? ;)
Booze, weed, and 'shrooms? Alright.

I'm no longer going to respond to these comments. What does it matter what I do? What's important to you... most likely consequences rights? There haven't been many ones. Enough said..

You did the right thing because the outcome was positive. You did however put yourself into a situation where the result could have been VERY, VERY negative.

who the hell tries to talk like they wanna fight on the fucking internet? goddamn, go kill yourself.

His parents probably don't spend much time with him. Which is the reason why he is making up some bullshit story.

Sp what about my comments?

I'm not disagreeing.. I know the streets well and I'm not a bad driver.. what I did was unsafe but I think I did whatever possible to make it safe. The only time I had a problem was when I got cut off on two occasions. It wasn't unfixable either time.
Both. But what can you do in this situation? well the story is kinda funny actually... I would hope that this was a wake up call for the girl and yourself (at least you are trying)... but most people seem to not learn (what do you want from mice?)! With that said at least you two aren't addicted to cigarettes, cuz that is the only thing more addictive than heroin.

Hope you learn... but whateva, now go play a videogame!
How much does Heroin cost anyway? Is it like super expensive?
All depends on use frequency. For a non-frequent user, it's pretty cheap... once the tolernace builds up, it can rob a bank account or two. I've seen it happen many times. I'm no longer as interested in it as I used to be.. I actually enjoy drinking more nowadays..

About the whole 'calling an ambulance' thing. Yes it would've probably been wiser to do so, but, to be fair, when something like that occurs, you normally aren't in a state of mind to be making logical decisions. You do what you can. Sometimes it's not always the best choice, sometimes it is, but it's not like you exactly have time to think it through. I know my thoughts would be all muddled if a friend of mine was dying in the seat next to me. The good thing is, at least it worked out.

So like is there different kind of heroin? Or is it just one heroin and that's it? I heard that oxycotton is like the pill form of heroin.
I'm no longer going to respond to these comments because every counter-argument I'll give is gunna be a crock of shit and full of holes, as evidenced by everything I've said thus far.
Response?

Drinking can potentially be bad depending on how irresponsible the user is...

Not sure if this is a joke post or what. Your friend almost DIED from heroin use and yet you say you are not as interested as you used to be in it. If this doesn't make you want to stop for good, what will?
