I dunno but to me 24 has jumped the shark big time.
I thought 28 weeks later was contrived but I'm 1.5 hours into this new seson of 24 and it's like it's written by three year olds. It's horrible.
1) The directing trick of limiting eye contact between characters with close shots is played out.
2) It's good to see thate every office, terrorist cell, and political admninistration is run just like CTU. The FBI Even has a washed up comic as Chloe!
3) Every major infrastructuure in the US can be controlled by a hacked Xbox.
4) Airplane Captains are increadib;y stupid and effectively fly bind.
5) The FBI lady just asked Jack how far was willing to go when he nearly took out the guys eye with a pen! She's officially retarded!
I can picture the conversation.
"Dude, that's not cool."
"You said I could do what I had to?"
"I thought you were gonna rough him up a little. Work the body then the face. Not take out his eye!"
6) And speaking of this, she gives this whole diatribe about how she can control Jack and she knows he's a loose cannon. And she rolls over like a shephard. Oh yeah, she's little Miss Tough FBI Agent.
7) Of course Jack would be the only one who spots the sniper and pegs him as a fake FBI agent.
8) The FBI agent flippantly hands jack the keys after commandering the car. Showing she's...
A) a submissive character which completely goes against type.
B) Reinforces that woman can't drive. Let alone no man worth his salt will allow a woman to drive hima round.
C) Jack has to do everythign himself.
9) The Gall of the show to try to preach some ethicists message is sickening. The whole show is by it's nature contrived, so where does it get the nerve to espouse some moralist message about the war on terror when it's escapist fantasy land! That very nature makes any such assertiuon invalid. But it makes it anyway, and so seriously! And constantly. Every 15 minutes it's been, "Poor Jack, Jack's a hero, Jack had to do what he had to do." I mean, wtf!
And on, and on, and on.
I wouldn't be so annoyed if the show was just escapist fare. But it's poor escapist fare and it trys to shove a particular ethicists view down your throat.
