N64 game case project - live!

Oh well ...... I saw Turok 2 front/back on Gamescanners so I thought I'd finish off with a bang.

Scanned my box spine, bit of editing and voila .......

Another one bites the dust :D

Wow thanks TheValeman! You've breathed some new life into a dying project.

I recently made a cover for South Park Rally based on the Gamescanners scans, but for some reason they seemed way out of proportion to the size needed for the Mediashelving cases. So I ended up cropping the front and having to add extra pixels to the back to get it to fit - yuck. If anyone's desperate for this one I'll upload it, but it's not my proudest work.

I want to do this, I only have one SNES game though. Its supermetroid, and I need the instructions for it, anyone have it? Also, will anyone do the whole thing and sell it to me?

No worries :)

Like I said.....I dont have access to the boxes so it makes it difficult to get motivated.

As far as the sizing of gamescanners files go...they are perfect ratio to the boxes themselves...it's the mediashelving box that has the odd shape. I resize the file...even my own scanned ones to the size as per instructions and viola...they look ok
If you can post the image of the box spine I'll have a go with Gamescanners front/backs and see what we get. Make sure your spine is scanned at 300dpi though. Image shack it and give us the link .

Cheers
I know what you mean... I haven't received my order of cases yet, so I'm not that motivated yet. Once I get them, I'll be working on this more.

Well..... all good things must end so here is one of my alltime favourite games

That's all from me ........... well........ for a week at least as I will be holidaying at the beach with no cellphone,TV or internet coverage.

See you all on the other side of a new year.

Took Gamescanners box and added a scan of my box spine to come up with

Yep ..... I liked the original box art better than the re-release box already on Snackbar.

Thats all folks.

L8r

Edited link as didn't show in my imageshack files...very weird

Actually on snackbar thats a pal version, damn your good, hey if can you send me all of yours zipped up to my email? cyrix.1337(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Ive seen 2 versions of the cases, which is better. The one just for n64, or the ones that fit n64 and snes?
The case that fits n64, snes, and genesis is what these inserts are created for.

Edit: These
Did these get uploaded to Snackbar Games for me to post?
I don't believe so - people earlier reported problems with the upload link.

Hey Snowcone,

If you can get the 404 error sorted on Snackbar/upload page sorted I will upload all my original size files when I get back from Holiday.
Writing this on my laptop at present as nowhere near my desktop PC so it'll be after 7th Jan but it gives you plenty of time to sort that link :D

Hope everyone's enjoying my contributions. May have lots more for you soon.

My PAL box is the same as the the NTSC one. That's why I was able to get a scan of the spine to complete the Gamescanner box. :)

The black border covers were subsequent re-release boxes in Europe which found their way to Australia/New Zealand late in the N64's life. I dont have many which the black border and old artwork. I have over forty boxes personally....only one like that from memory....although I cant be sure until I'm back home.

Cheers

Oh.....if Snowcone gets that upload link on Snackbar sorted I will upload the full size versions there for everyone to get

If anyone is interested in having the box art inserts that are available for download printed out but don't have the resources to do it I'm offering a print service at a cost of $0.35 per insert plus a small S&H fee. I can print them out on a thin, glossy cardstock that will hold up better than paper. The printer I use is a high end commercial grade color laser that's as big as a washing machine, no kidding, and it does an incredible job. The only thing I ask is that you order a minimum of two inserts because the sheets I use are 12" x 18" and this will help prevent wasting the cardstock. I've already printed a sample using Super Mario RPG Legend Of The Seven Stars and it turned out great.
Can we see? And sign me up. Ill take Mario64 and MarioKart64.
Here's a pic of one of the Mario RPG inserts that I printed, sorry about the light glare on the bottom section. Like I mentioned before, these are printed on thin, glossy cardstock instead of paper. If anyone's interested I'll need a list of what you want and your shipping address to send you a grand total.

Alright, I just want Mario64 and MarioKart64. I also need 2 cases please XD.
Also, are you gonna give them to use like that, or are they already cut? If your gonna cut them, do a good job please.

Sorry but I'm only selling the insert copies, not cases. They will be sent similar to what you see in the pic so the buyer will have to do the cutting.

Ive been looking for something to keep my games in for years and a google search turned up this thread. Im in England which makes it a bit more difficult to get the cases, could someone who has bought 100 please estimate the weight, im hoping a friend in texas will be able to order some and then ship them over for me.

I dont suppose there will be much interest but i have a few english boxes that i can scan and i also found this site which might help to provide a cover for games that boxes havent been found for, I could help out with editing if nessecary.

http://www.replacementdocs.com

This seems like a great site btw, its nice to find that other people are still interested in the old consoles.

Thanks - James :)

Thanks, that would be great.

I did some boxes for my dc games a couple of years ago to replace the standard boxes that seem to always be broken. The covers were pretty basic but they look quite neat, has anyone got a worms armageddon n64 box?

dc.jpg

holy shit do you still have the scans for the boxes? Those cases looks soo good and simple. Although those are to replicate PAL games I still like them alot.

Thanks, they are pretty simple, my photoshopping skills were poor back then, i have still got the case covers saved as jpegs somewhere. most of them were just a scan of the original cover but a few like the looney tunes one were a bit more customised.

sorry for hijacking the thread.

seem to be working again.....Good on you Snowcone!!

So I'm starting to upload the full size versions of the files I uploaded before going on holiday.

I assume he'll check them and make them available to everyone.

Cheers

PS. Already uploaded 1080 Alt, Buck Bumble and Doom64........

Indeed ...... another one bites the dust. If you can put up with PAL that is :)

Uploading full size image to Snackbar as I type this

That makes 12 boxes to date from me ...... and I still have a few to go !!!!

Anyone want to send me a mediashelving box to try? After all.....I'm buying and have bought a lot of these boxed carts just to put the artwork up for you guys.

Cheers

I found this site and the snackbar forum via google. And waht an awesome site this is. I have so many loose games that i can store properly now thanks to all your contributions. I live in Germany so i don't have access to those mediashelving cases but i have cases that are similar in size so i can use the covers. Thanks to the efforts of all you people i have covers for all my games now, all but 16.
My problem is that I suck big time at photoshop or gfx programs in general, so you guys are my last hope.
The covers I'm missing are:
DAIKATANA, DUKE NUKEM 64, DUKE NUKEM ZERO HOUR, EARTHWORM JIM 3D, EXTREME G2. FORSAKEN, HEXEN, MACE THE DARK AGE, MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY, QUAKE, QUAKE2, RIDGE RACER 64, TUROK, WIPEOUT, WRESTLEMANIA 2000 and WWF NO MERCY

Some of them are up on gamescanners but as I said my photoshop skills are baaaad. I know I'm not the only one here in need of covers so I'll take anything. PAL, NTSC, custom made covers, just about anything to finally complete my collection. Maybe someone could make a template for photoshop where you'd just have to insert the pictures for back, front and spine

Again thanks to all of you for what you've done already and thanks in advance. I hope I was not to rude making such a big request in my very forst post :)

Yep...... here's Mission Impossible.

For those of you who own it....even though it's a crap game ... LOL

Obviously I own it too..... or you wouldn't be getting the box scan off me ;)
Upping full size file to Snackbar right now.

Thats #13

You have a Rugal avatar, your name is KasierWAVE, AND you're from Germany.... WIN!!! hahahaha

Thanks :)
I just love SNK. All their characters just have so much style, so much more than the ones CAPCOM has come up with. And Rugal is one of my alltime favourites and probably one of the best character designs ever along with Yamazaki, Vanessa, Iori and B. Jenet.
Coming from Germany I thought about a Wolgang Krauser avatar along with the name BlitzBALL but Rugal looks just so much better :D

Yeah, SNK's characters have always had a better personality compared Capcom's. Most of Capcom's characters seem really cut and dry, or just outlandish stereotypes(Dhalsim?).

Needs a little work on the spine as my box is NOT in good condition for this game
Uploaded full size file to Snackbar. Get Snowcone onto updating his site if you want any of the files I created.

That's all from me. Too much me me me here for me.

Don't moan. If you remove duplicates there are approx 90 box scans including my 14 now on Snackbar so I've added nearly 20% to the cause.

Sayonara....

Thanks TheValeman, you did a really grat job. I needed about half the covers you made and now with Quake 2 I have a cover for one of my alltime favourite N64 games. Thank you again, I appreciate it a lot. Too bad there will be no more from you but you did a whole lot already.

Here are some raw scans of Goemon's Great Adventure I just did. They have some rental stickers on the front too, so it'll need some slight editing.
I took your scan and came up with

which is real rough and ready. Sure someone else can do better but it suits my purposes....so thanks for that.
You're the only other person to contribute lately so hats off to you.

Last post of a box scan from me. Cant be blowed uploading it to Snackbar so everyone will have to take to lo-res imageshack one.....or......make their own. Nevermind the 18 mint boxes for games not on Snackbar that I bought at auction specifically for this forum......oh well

L8r

EDIT. I have now uploaded this to Snackbar as it's only fair seeing someone else provided the raw scans

Thanks a lot!! I didn't think anyone would do it..

Anyway, I'll try to see if I can get some boxes to keep this project alive.

I'm sure everyone appreciates your work - I know I do. I don't happen to need any of the ones you've got, but just adding to the collection is great.

I made several covers earlier when we were still getting raw scans from people, but there's not much to do without scans. Also, my Photoshop skills are pretty bad. This project really slowed down when the ftp site with the scans went down. :(

My N64 collection is about 90% loose carst, so I don't have many boxes to scan. I'm just now getting back up on my feet after foot surgery, so I will go into the dungeon to see how many boxes I can scan.

Oh, and I haven't heard from mediashelving.com about my order. Their ordering system sucks. I guess I'll have to use the phone to find out what's going on.

OK, here are the covers that I have.

Conker's Bad Fur Day
Donkey Kong 64 (bad shape)
Goldeneye 007
Knockout Kings 2000
Madden 99
NHL Breakaway 98
NHL 99
Perfect Dark
Rampage 2 Universal Tour
Resident Evil 2

I'll take requests on those.

I'm assuming you have to disassemble the box to scan it. Is is possible to get the box back together 100% after scanning?

Does anyone have access to the original list and can update it to reflect what we have now?

Also, I just called mediashelving, and my order is on back order for at least another week. Maybe it's because of this thread?

I dont take my boxes apart. I just scan them by folding them flat so the front shows one spine. See Gamescanners site....specifically the Starcraft or World cup 98 scans for the idea.

Boxes I still had to do included

All-Star Baseball 99
Blast Corps
Body Harvest PAL
F1 World Grand Prix
Fighters Destiny
Hexen
NBA Jam 99
NFL Quarterback Club 98
NFL Quarterback Club 99
NHL Breakaway 98
Operation Winback
Snowboard Kids
World Cup 98 PAL
WWF Warzone PAL

A lot of the above were boxes only bought at auction for this forum. I dont even have the cartridges.. or even like sports games for that matter

Here's Mischief Maker courtesy of Gamescanners [ I didn't see the spine until just now ....... along with

Batman Returns....also on his site with the spine.

I haven't uploaded them to Snackbar....Snowcone hasn't made any of my other ones available yet so it seems pointless at the present time.

Here's a challenge to you guys. Does anyone have access to boxes and can scan the spines only for Gamescanners boxes? They can be from hired game boxes..... we just need the spines to complete a whole bunch of these boxes ..... or we're left with lots of boxes like this .......

I'm happy to do the editing etc. Just need 300dpi scans of spines...cmon guys. If we get some of these done I'll rethink scanning my personal collection.

I had to resort to making custom spines for several of the covers I made. If you look at the one on snackbar for Space Invaders, I found some very low DPI images of the front and back via Google, blew them up to the correct size (hello pixelation) and then made the spine from scratch to sort of match the front cover. Yucky but better than a box with no cover.

Yeah, looking at the space invaders cover, I can see the spine was a custom job. ..since everything but the spine is blurry. lol
