N64 game case project - live!

We have the Pokemon Stadium 2 cover, not the original Pokemon Stadium :).

I uploaded a scan of my box a couple of pages back and TheValeman did a cover and sent it to me through a PM. That was a work-in-progress cover, but I have yet to see the final cover on here or snackbar.

You didn't like the Nintendo logo and I haven't had spare time at work to redo the spine. It's on my work PC so I hope the admin boy's haven't found it. Oh .... my label site now has 72 labels .... 1 USA and the rest PAL .... so it's coming along as fast as I can buy games.

On the Vigilante scan on UKbeats site ... the rear cover can be doctored with my PAL cover and a red rear sidebar from another box to get you red lovers a satisfactory alternative to my black PAL cover. Use a little creative cutting & pasting :D

If you want I can take a look at the scans on UKBeats. I will upload any of those I complete as I didn't contribute the scans so they haven't cost me anything but a bit of time.

EDIT. OK .... Here it is.........

And here's Fighters Destiny USA as well ....

And here's StarSoldier Vanishing Earth ....

EDIT. Here's what I whacked up for 4tygames re Pokemon Stadium. Had a fair bit of work on the spine as they're double width. I put the little Nintendo logo in there to break up the huge green gap between the edge and the pokemon wording and help mask the squashed Pokemon creature.I still have the full-size pic if everyone wants it as it is. Otherwise it'll take a while as I have to redo the spine again.....

Do you want these uploaded to Snack-bar?

No no, I think I saw that someone had posted the scans for Pokémon Stadium 1. I wonder why I thought that :S

The only N64 boxes I have that are not done already are:

Mega Man 64
Pokemon Puzzle League

Both are NTSC. I am going to try and find a scanner to help you guys out and then just upload the raw scans. How perfect do the boxes need to be? These are pretty good, but I just want to make sure before I go to the effort.

Oh yeah. This may be a dumb question, but I am not familiar with scanning and such. Do I have to unfold the boxes, or is there a way to scan it without it being flattened?

It depends on what type of scanner it is. But, I would generally say to flatten it, as it would probably give a clearer scan.

Awesome MorPhiend.

RockinX did a Mega Man 64 cover (RockinX: Did you upload it to Snackbar?), but we do need the NTSC Pokemon Puzzle League. If you are having trouble finding a scanner, you can always go to Kinko's or some other local print shop and I bet they would be happy to help you out.

And scan the box at 300dpi.

Flatten them so you scan one spine and front or back at the same time. Try to get the scan straight and level if possible. The straighter the less the software interpolates when correcting so the the better the final result.

And dont .... please dont .... scan too close to the edges. It's better to have a bit of blank space outside the box than to have to cut down the scan because it had a portion of picture shaved off. Auto-scanning is terrible for that especially on light coloured boxes. I alway use manual scan and allow a generous area around the box as a precaution as it's easy to remove afterwards anyway.

Cheers

RockinX did a custom cover, I think.

You can also not flatten the box and just leave the scanner cover open. You have to scan the front, back, and spine separately but it usually works fine. Just make sure to scan everything completely, as ValeMan said.
Really? This is a custom cover (Login first)?
Nope .... legit cover that one!!!!

I was looking at EBAYing it. Don't have to now. So now I'm looking at Hydrothunder [US version] on EBAY instead ... :D

Hey ... I want the game and I have a convertor to run US games on my PAL N64 at 60htz so it'll be faster than the PAL version anyway.

No one answered my previous question. Do you want me to submit those covers I created off the UKBeats site or has someone else done them already? What about Pokemon Stadium?
Really? This is a custom cover (Login first)?
I'm currently working on the custom Megaman 64 cover and it looks nothing like that :p The custom cover I have uploaded (for N64 anyway) has been the OOT one.

And I did upload the MM64 cover to Snackbar, but I announced the uploading here.

Indeed you did. But as usual Snack-bar is a bit behind on the updates so it isn't available there at present.

Wow Valeman, you are so fucking active and nice contributions! :applause: I just thought of complimenting on your efforts to help to move this project at a faster pace.

Yes, please upload Pokemon Stadium to Snackbar. I didn't understand why the Nintendo logo was there in the first place, but now I see.

Vigilante 8, Star Soldier, and Fighter's Destiny all need to be uploaded to snackbar.

Thanks!

N64 List Updated

We have pretty much reached the half-way mark! CheapyD needs to announce this on the front page!

Maybe it's because it's late and I'm very tired, but what Nintendo logo are you talking about?
Maybe it's because it's late and I'm very tired, but what Nintendo logo are you talking about?
I placed a small Nintendo logo on left side of the spine ... the little white & red oval one ... to try and break up the huge swath of green on the spine. Very small ... 4tygames didn't like it ... I thought it rather good personally.

And I've uploaded Auto Lamborghini to Snack-bar. Got to be the worse box scan I ever laid eye's on ... sheesh

Have a look at message #825 for some good news. Someone offered me some cases today. I don't have the funds to pay for them at present on account of buying all these boxed games recently so I had to pass ... but ... it restored my faith in another person here and along with the new boxes on UKBeats and SMMM getting into buying a few boxes I figured it couldn't go unrewarded.

Enjoy!! well .... when Snowcone gets these new ones online anyway .. hehe

Heh heh, you're still mixed up - I have Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits, not the Namco collection. :)

Also, I got the game at a yard sale for $1 and it was barely worth it. I don't think I'd spend any money just to get the box for it. Unless we can find someone who has the box (e.g. on Digitpress or somewhere) I'll eventually make a custom cover like I did for Space Invaders 64.

On the project related note .... I purchased a box lot of USA N64 game boxes ... which comprises the following:

TUROK 3 ....................already have
CRUIS'N EXOTICA ..................already have
WCW NWO REVENGE .......................SMM just obtained
MARIO PARTY 2 .....................already have
QUAKE 2 ......................already have but good to check spine for accuracy
WCW VS. NWO WORLD TOUR ...................already have
CONKERS BAD FUR DAY ...........................already have
TUROK 2 .......................................already have
WAVE RACE ................................already have
POKEMON SNAP .............................already have

Potentially new scans for the project .........

ASTEROIDS HYPER 64
CARMAGEDDON 64
DUKE NUKEM ZERO HOUR
FIGHTING FORCE 64
MADDEN 2002
NFL QUARTERBACK CLUB 98
RAINBOW SIX
SNOWBOARD KIDS
SUPERMAN
TONY HAWK PRO SKATER
TONY HAWK PRO SKATER 2
WAIALAE COUNTRY CLUB

I say potential because until I get them I have no real idea on the state of them. It was an issue getting them. The guy would only ship to USA destinations only so I had to ship them to my brother in MD. Boy is he gonna get a shock when a box of 28 boxes turns up on his doorstep :D
I'll get him to forward them to me. Probably I'll have him remove the inserts, flatten them out and put the outsides in a small box to save costs. So it will take a couple of weeks I guess.
Asteroids Hyper 64 ... now that sounds like I might want to get the game myself.

Later
btw, I also bought some SNES games to bring the SNES project back to life. I posted raw scans a few days but it looks like so one's interested in making them into covers. I'm not trying to soliciate(I bought some boxes for this project as well), I just need that Fatal Fury cover >_>
Hey SMMM .... if you know anyone interested in SNES boxes .... point them to this...

Good opportunity to grab another 40 odd boxes for scanning maybe?

Cheers

O_O

I'll keep an eye on it. Speaking of which, I created a SNES Completion list similar to 4tygames's(in fact, I just ripped it off with a few changes haha). Anyone have any idea where I can host it?

oh, and the guy I bought the N64 boxes from finally sent me a total today, so I just got to pay him. Should be here in a few days.

and move to the NTSC empire.

I'm selling my PAL games off so I can buy US games as there's so much choice over there. And games like SF Rush 2049 which sell for $100 and I can pick a US one up for $6. Conker sets us back $70+ as opposed to $10. Paper Mario $110 vs $6 .... get my drift. Even allowing for postage I'd probably save 60-70% which means I can get more games :)

So you may see even more US boxed scans from me as I get my collection sold off and I start purchasing more. Just bought Twooie for $20 incl postage instead of paying $90 for PAL version. It's a start.

That is a great game. You should forget about scanning and just play it for awhile :)

Yeah ... I wonder which will arrive first though... the game or the adapter to plug it into my PAL console?

I really need to get a US N64 sent over...then I'll be cooking :)
I might see if someone on EBAY will send just the main unit over...dont need controllers or power adapter as my ones plug straight in no worries at all.

I had the PAL version of the game but sold it to help pay for all the recent purchases for the project. Dedication huh?

I use the Internet space my local ISP provides for every customer. It is dedicated and I have unlimited bandwidth for 20mb.

I have an extra n64 unit laying around, message me your information and I'll make it to the post office this week. I have to slam my games in the system (on both my n64s), so I'm guessing the games are just dirty and it's not the system itself - i don't have any cleaning stuff either (need to get some obviously). I'll cover the shipping too, consider this the help you never received when you needed cases before =)

i got all the info from digitpress.com (they don't care if you use their database information so long as you give them credit, as I did at the top of the file). And then I dropped it in excel and have a formula to count the yes's and no's and sums them up and then divides them to show the %'s. Since 4ty just took it from the web, he didn't get all those nifty excel formulas, although he may have gone in and redid them...

if you would like my excel spreadsheet (anyone) just let me know and I'll put it online for download. The formulas in excel aren't hard or complex by any means, but if you don't know it it can be frustrating to try to figure them out.

WOW!!! .... after picking myself off the floor I thought that deserved an answer in the best way possible. See message #825.

ALL OUTSTANDING GAMES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED TO SNACK-BAR

Oh .... I just purchased Nascar 2000 NTSC from a local guy so I'll have some Nascar scan goodness soon for anyone who needs it. And I got confirmation that the 24 box of US games I mentioned in a previous post is being sent to my brother tomorrow. There's several boxes that haven't been done to date so we should leave the 50% mark behind well and truly. Oh .... depending on the answer tomorrow I'll probably be buying Wipeout 64 NTSC version mint and still factory sealed tomorrow.

That's all folks

EDIT. Just bought both Wipeout 64 NTSC and NFL Quarterback Club 98 NTSC.... both still factory sealed ..... yippee
Thats Very Nice! I have a 100+ N64 collection and kept all my boxes. I store the vertically and out of the way to keep them new.
What would be really great would be if you had a look at the n64list and let us know if you have any games not already scanned and let us whether you are willing to scan them for us.

We have a site you can upload the raw scans to if you want someone else to convert them.

Any help getting the gaps filled is appreciated heaps....

Cheers

Yeah that would be awesome Triggerman! Please scan some boxes in for us if ya can. We can convert them to covers for this project. :)

Excellent work and a great idea for a project, guys. I'm printing out the current list and will scrounge through my old stuff to see what I've got to add.

I'm going to ask the next question without reading all the pages, so flame away if it's being discussed already. Any chances on an GB/GBC/GBA project of similar magnitude? Boxes have always been most important to me, and it infuriates me that EB Games/GameStop now instructs their employees to throw away any GB(P/C/A) game boxes away if one is traded in with the game! If there were a respectable looking alternate, I wouldn't mind purchasing a used box-free game, as I'd be able to provide my own case art.

(reason for not reading every page: I do voluntary work, and the only internet access I can afford is dial up. The lines around here stink big time, and it takes me years to load what should load in under a minute. So forgive me. Please.)

Ha ha ha! Actually, the GBA project is the original project that this was based on! There's a thread around somewhere on it, but just go to snackbar-games.com and click the tab for gba covers. There are hundreds of them!

Edit: Here's the page: http://www.snackbar-games.com/gbacovers.php

It's kinda slow though IMO so it might not be great over dialup.

Id love to Help! But I Dont have a scanner, When I got married and moved I never unpacked it and God only knows where it is. Is there some otherway to capture the images?:whistle2:k
Id love to Help! But I Dont have a scanner, When I got married and moved I never unpacked it and God only knows where it is. Is there some otherway to capture the images?:whistle2:k
Not really. We need the boxes scanned at 300dpi....front,back and the spine with the name on it. Any other way yields too lower images to do anything with and invariably are not consistent in colour, angle etc.

Find that scanner buddy

And they're only 30 bucks over there aren't they? Gotta be a fantastic excuse to get that new one you always wanted :)

Potentially new scans for the project when they all arrive .........

blast corps
multi racing championship
nfl quarterback club 99
Robotron 64 PAL
WAIALAE COUNTRY CLUB
wheel of fortune

If you could go to your local print shop and have the boxes scanned that would be awesome!
