No Reggie Miller? No Charles Barkley?

Minimally bummed about the above two. Still a very solid lineup of teams and legends.

Also, the 90-91 Warriors and 01-02 Kings will be preorder bonuses.

They aren't a part of the NBAPA retired players something or other, so they'd cost more money. Granted, I'd pay for DLC to get them in the game, but I don't think we'll have any of that this year, which is lame.

I'll update the first post with that too, thanks Regian.

I wondered how they would top the Jordan mode. While this doesn't look as cool as Jordan mode (I'm a Bulls fan) it makes sense as the next logical step.

I'm still waiting for full roster reveals (tomorrow, by the way) before I reserve full judgement. Being a Celtics fan and seeing that they obliterated our 1986 bench was horrible last year.

Still, just thinking, if they only have the stars on each team from the 30 above, then it will still be pretty awesome. It'd still be great to play as Greg Kite on that '86 Celtics team, or even Tommy "Homer" Heinsohn on that 60's Celtics team.
Mannnn If they only had Lebron as the cover, oh well :p
They could always offer a deal on that edition: You'd only pay $45 and miss the last quarter of every game you play.

I'm surprised they went with the three legends, but as soon as I saw Larry Bird I knew I was getting this ASAP. I'd kill for my GS to have a midnight launch.

I'll add the full rosters for both teams to the first post whenever they get announced tomorrow.

Interesting that they picked both NorCal teams with the Run TMC era Warriors and the 2001 Kings as the preorder bonuses. I guess it makes sense because they're fun teams to play with, but known for the unit rather than a single outright superstar.

I have a huge question mark about picking both Malone and Stockton. Two superstars from the same team in the same year taking up two spots? Really? Would've very much preferred them as a tandem since you really can't talk about one without the other. Should've given the other spot to Charles Barkley (Sixers or Suns eras preferably) or Reggie Miller. Share the love.

Barkley was a rookie on Dr. J's 84/85 team, so we'll see how they handle that tomorrow. I'm really sad Miller isn't on it too. Miller vs the Knicks is a great rivalry that I'd have liked to have seen.

I usually buy the 2k NBA every other year and picked it up last year but kinda interested on how they top last years game. I play a lot of street ball on the game and hated the way it plays in 2k11. I do like that people make custom teams so I was able to download some of the Barkley and Robinson/Spurs teams for last years game. Please lord, allow 2k to make football games again (I know, I know, that's a rant for another thread).

I don't really think I can get excited for this if there won't even BE a basketball season this year, plus there's a plethora of games coming out around then as well.

I just read about this, and im totally excited for it.

92-93 Hornets
93-94 Rockets
94-95 Knicks/ Magic
95-96 Bulls/Sonics
97/98 Jazz/Lakers

I cant wait to play as those teams, especially my 94-95 Magic, i loved that team. Only teams i wish were in were the 92-93 Suns, and 98-99 Pacers with Reggie, Rose, Smits, Mark Jackson. Would have personally liked one of the Bucks teams with Glenn Robinson/Ray Allen duo on there. But it will be nice to have Oscar and Kareem Bucks to play with. The pre order bonus teams are a MUST!

Rosters are up, along with some bonus teams.

With all the repeat Lakers teams, you think they could have at least put another Celtics team in with Bob Cousy. I also find it funny that the 86-87 Lakers face the 85-86 Celtics too.

Having KC Jones, Satch Sanders, Sam Jones, Hondo, Russell and Heinsohn is f'n amazing though. I really can't wait to play as them.

Whats with the teams like 84-85 76ers only having 7 players, how are you supposed to play a full game with that many players?

Also no Nick Van Exel on the 97-98 Lakers makes me a sad panda. :(

The 71 Hawks only go 7 deep too. It's not entirely impossible, the Knicks only played that deep this season after acquiring Melo, but without knowing who plays what on those teams (I'm 22, give me a break), I can't say how it would work.

I'd guess it will work the same as 2K11, with generic computer players filling out those last spots. They probably just couldn't get the licensing rights for everyone.

PG #9 for the Lakers? LOL. Hopefully they are generic players that would be rated like the players they are supposed to be. I havent played 2k11 so idk. But 2K12 is looking good.

No. Those generic players were rated horribly and all looked the same if I remember correctly. Bummer. I guess when I play as those teams I'll just play so many deep and deal with the exhaustion the players will have.

From the limited amount of time I tried last season, I don't know. I know I couldn't clone any of the players to a created team (if I remember right), so my "Big Six" Celtics team never materialized.

Ugh, told myself I'm going to be too busy this year to buy this game. Had talked myself out of it and they put in the one thing that will bring me back. This sounds awesome. I can't wait to destroy with the 94-95 Magic. Penny and Shaq the combo that never should have been split.

I hope more DLC does come out, because I will buy it...

Yeah, having 6 Lakers legends teams and only 2 Celtics teams is ridiculous. Although I can't wait to play with those two great Celtics teams, they definitely could have shown Boston a little more love.

This game hasn't been on my radar because I wasn't aware of all the old teams they were putting in. I played the crap out of 2K8, then didn't come back to the series until 2K11. For some reason, last year's edition didn't grab me as much as 2K8 had. But being able to play with Bird, Russell, and all the other great teams and players? Yeah, no way I'm not picking this one up.

New trailer for the Greatest mode. Features all of the legend teams. Its really awesome to see the black and white opening.

Especially when there is so much crossover in the teams. West/Baylor appear on all the older teams as well as Magic/Kareem on all the 80's teams. A young Bird team, maybe the 1981 Championship team would have been great, with Maxwell and Tiny on the roster of that one.

I hope that the old school uniforms can be used by the current day players having longer shorts, and that both the home/away uniforms for those old ones are available too. That'd be awesome.

Since 95% of my time with 2K11 was with the career mode and the rest was in the franchise mode, I don't see any reason yet why I should care about 2K12. The only things I can think of to improve the career mode are the ability to pick a team to start with and fixing the broken passing.

^^ Yes especially the passing.

Would anyone be interested in a league. I spent alot of time on 2k11 and the Cag league never finished. I would start one up if there was enough interest, especially since this may be the only basketball I see this year(which is sad)

i might be interested, depending on if i get the game or not but im really excited about it. Only thing is i usually dont talk over live, not sure if that is something you want people to do or not.

you can create teams right? i mean with nba jerseys, so i can make my own old school teams, or just fantasy teams without having to use generic logos? Also if i add players to those teams can i edit their ratings? I really want to make a few custom teams from fantasy leagues ive been in. I assume you can use them online then right?

Why wouldn't you want to chat it up with a fellow CAG member? Not trying to be nosy or anything. I don't play too many sports games on live anymore but when I did play with new people, most of the time it was pretty cool talking about the game we were playing and maybe finding other games in common to play with them with some other time as well. It was just pretty boring playing for 30 min listening to the announcer on the game giving play by play.
If I can get dibs on the Celtics, I'd be down. ;)
 I'd have no problem with that. I'll put a thread together in the next few days and get it going then. I'll be taking the Kings.

I have three other guys interested as well. (Bulls, Mavs, and Magic)

Posted on the first thread.

Anybody remember how throwback uniforms acted last year? I forget if the shorts were short for 80's teams, but if so, did they stay that way when used on the current day version of that team? I definitely want to use the 60's no-last-name Celtics uniform on the 1986 and 2011 Celtics teams.

Interesting tweet out of 2K Sports' digital marketing manager, Ronnie Singh, this afternoon: "We have just secured the NBA 2K12 rights to '93 Denver Nuggets LaPhonso Ellis and added him to roster."

http://kotaku.com/5834589/nba-2k12-still-adding-players-to-its-classic-teams

This is good news, I am still hoping Nick Van Exel and Rick fox can be acquired for the Lakers, Darrell Armstrong for the Magic, and Eric Snow for the Sonics.

NBA 2K12 will offer codes for two classic teams, the 1990-91 Golden State Warriors and the 2001-2002 Sacramento Kings. These codes will be printed and inserted into all retail copies of the game, and will be available through all retail outlets, but there will be a limited supply of them. Once the codes run out, the game will ship copies without them.

http://kotaku.com/5834332/bonus-nba-2k12-teams-dont-require-preorder-will-be-in-all-retail-copies

Thats good news, but i plan to pre order if i do get the game for the 10 dollar gift card/credit.

oh thats true, i was just looking at the rosters and not at the stats as much. But Van Exel and Fox were a big part of the Lakers, really hope they get them in because that team would be fun to use then.

Just read about the kings 01-02 roster being included. Was going to wait for a price drop but I dont want to miss the code. That was their year for the title.
