NBA Street Homecourt (360) Thread - DLC IS OUT

IGN review is in:
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/765/765719p1.html

lots of praise for a next-gen sports game: great controls, fluid animations, great gameplay additions, smooth 60 FPS framerate with nice art style, fitting and solid music (none of the commercial rap), overall they give "mad props", all of the official jordan shoes, great multiplayer experience

some gripes: not enough "drama" in career mode, no street legends or nba legends, not enough modes

definitely getting this game on the 20th at best buy with the 10 off 39.99 coupon :D
Hmmmmmm to buy or to rent, that is the question.

I haven't enjoyed a NBA Street Game like this one since the very first one.
either way, i'm gonna rape you online, pimp ;)

Looks like I won't be picking this up until at least March 1st.... I'm currently out of funds and won't be getting anymore until next month. I would still love to school some of you the day I pick my copy up. That is, if Microsoft gets around to sending me my 360 back....

Shit, I just realized that with this game along with Crackdown and Def Jam Icon, I'm going to be set...until Guitar Hero 2 comes out that is. I was planning on getting Virtua Tennis 3 and MLB 2K7 but those are going to have to wait until later.

damn, higher reviews than I thought it would get. I was still buying it either way, but the reviews made me more excited to get it. Not to mention I will be getting crackdown the same day.

That IGN review is pretty light on the info.
This is all the details we get on the online aspect:
The online options are basic as well. You can play pick-up games, Gamebreaker battles, Trick Battles and Back to Basics games online and find yourself on the leaderboard. This would have been a great chance for an online, defend-your-turf feature, but we're left hanging again on the EA servers. The Achievements are relatively simple with nothing out of reach once you beat the Homecourt Challenge.

yea, i noticed that also, but in an earlier interview about the online aspect (i think it was either gamespot or gamespy), EA mentioned that their main focus for the online mode was to make it very smooth like the offline game..so as long as the online part is as responsive as the offline game, i think the rest will fall into place

Best Buy is supposed to have it by 2PM today for everyone interested.

edit - just read on another board that the ad was a misprint and it won't be in until tomorrow. I probably will still go by there to be sure. But the web site indicates that as well....

why oh why did they fuck with the controls? The demo is so... meh compared to V3. This will be a sub 20 purchase for me. Very disappointing demo.

that's funny since V3 is considered by many to be the oddball/worst of the 3 so far...V2 was the definitive version of the past 3...

the controls feel more smooth now and are very responsive...the way they made the controls, it makes me feel like i'm actually in control of the moves i do instead of animations that automatically occur after a certain direction of the analog stick is flicked...i like that different timings of button presses produce different moves

i guess it's a taste thing

O yea V3 was terrible. The controls on Homecourt are great. I'm still thinking on picking this up but still not sure...... since Crackdown will hold my attention for awhile.

I have heard of someone doing a triple dunk. Are they blowing smoke or can you do it? Most I can get is the double even with the gamebreaker. Also, who has gotten someone stuck in the hoop or nut landed on the rim?

Went to Eb to get this and Crackdown and they didnt have it. They said they arent getting it till tomorrow. So whatever, Crackdown is fun at least.

Yea i have done a triple dunk they are sweet. The one i did, Melo dunked it, grabbed the backboard, dunked jumped off the rim and dunked. I think you can only do it in a gamebreaker though...

I love the controls of the game. All of the moves feel fluid

gamespot review just came up...8 out of 10, saying that there is a lack of game modes and they don't like the "old-school" look...

doesn't affect my purchase a bit, though i know some others are waiting for reasons not to get the game ;)

and yes, you can do a triple dunk if you launch yourself off someone during a gamebreaker and you hold it until the last moment

the one thing that really pisses me off, is that shitty ass mike dunleavy and troy murphy are still on the warriors, making them completely unusable. id rather roll with my lakers anyhow

Picked this up today at BB with the $10 off coupon. Game is awesome. I been going through the single player and it was way to easy on medium so I had to boost it up. It's a little repetitive playing the computer but online or versus someone else it's amazing. Only disappoints for me are the lack of modes and the out of date rosters. Which I already knew about both. Hopefully EA will release and updated roster but I doubt it.

Still fun but the Homecourt thing is annoying because the customization is weak and the players they give you are terrible and shouldnt be on the bb court

game is pretty challenging on hard for me since my created baller isnt up to snuff yet...so far i got a freak skill

just picked up morris peterson and antoine walker (dumped my other no-namer's for them)

only played the homecourt challenge so far and it's pretty good...i can't wait until my baller get's competent in more than 1 area so that the REAL fun can begin :D

and the box says that there's d/l content so i'm hoping they will have roster updates as well...plus free rucker park court

knowing EA it won't be free.

It's kind of fun, but like all EA debut next-gen games, it's bare bones. There's not enough substance here for me to throw down $60, but I'll play my friend's game in spurts.

I knew the create-a-player was stripped down, but I couldn't even figure out how to make a player who didn't have brown/black hair. Maybe I'm missing something here, but what's the point in creating a player when every white dude I can make looks absolutely nothing like me. Man, it sure is fun to play with this guy that looks exactly like the guy my friend created too!

Fun game though, just not enough to do to keep me entertained for very long.

And there are no Legends teams, am I correct about that?

Theres the LA legends, NY legends, Carolina legends, etc. but they all consist of modern day players.

I just don't see a roster update for this game happening. They never had one on NBA street vol. 3 which was capable of doing so. But then again online has never been as accessible as now with the marketplace, so maybe an update is possible. I'm not holding my breath though.

damn, i'm fucking good at this game!!...at least with the real nba players (not my baller yet) i lost my first game in a heated online showdown 22 - 26, and have won all 3 of my next online ones so far :)

I am pretty good with NBA teams as well. Played my first 3 games once on easy one on medium then one on hard and won all 3. But once I started the story mode and once I got to the point where I'm playing NBA players I get whoomped. I think I lost 6-7 in a row against antoine's team before I finally beat them.

oh, i meant online record

yea it's pretty damn hard (homecourt mode)...i played on hard and i think of myself as a pretty decent player, and my record on hard mode (i'm at level 5 right now) is something like 10-18 or something...it's semi-frustrating

then i made another baller and did homecourt mode with him and i am 11-2 so far on medium...quite a big difference there

another thing to add: i really like how online, there is no dunk meter just like in hard and expert mode...it really makes it much more competitive and a little more skill/reaction-based

it's fun :)

anyone want to get the 10 wins in a row achievement? You can do them in non ranked custom games so t won't hurt your record. And you can change the settings. I haven't messed with it yet, but you can probably set it to like first to 5 or something. Anyways I'll let you win 10 then let me win 10. I'll be on the rest of tonight if anyone is interested, I'll be available most of tomorrow as well.

DomLando and I knocked out the online achievements the other night and the lowest you can play is to 11. After that it just kicks you back to the menus which means that you have to create a new game every time there after.

ya I did it with some random guy last night.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but thank God that no big name players got traded yesterday (the trade deadline). I remember in Street 3 they had Baron Davis on the cover in his New Orleans jersey, then like a week later he got traded to Golden State.

They should release these games after the trade deadline.

Yeah I was pretty happy about that. Still hoping for a roster update though to fix the pacers and warriors.

Well I just beat this an hour ago. By the time I was done with Homecourt mode (level 20) my player was insane. 100 in 4 categories which no other players have. At best they have one, or like Kobe have a one or two others in the 90's. You have to option to level up 2 more guys so that's what its' there for. The ultimate dream team.

People using 3 fully levelled guys online will have a big advantage.
How is the player customization in this game?
it's cool that you can morph faces together of nba stars, but if you are trying to make a particular person, it's not as great for it..

woot i just got nicknamed :)
