no, the ad promises the normal number of 10 dollar trash games we've all come to see and adore.

Personally, i ought to think people should be more appreciative Circuit City does this clearence...some companies, such as northwest's own Fred Meyer, actually ship the games back to retailers if they don't sell, even though they may or might not even get reimbursed.
 
Well, Sunday my son and I headed out early to hit the local Circuit City (Anniston, AL) in time for opening. I was hoping to get that one copy of Baten Kaitos they had on the shelves for the last few months but it must have sold as it didn't end up in the bin (and I was there along with another CAG'er while it was being loaded with games).

Overall this kills last years $5 sale as there wasn't a thing left in the $5 bin worth my time or money at the local store.

Of the $10 titles I picked up (some were for my oldest son):

Hamtoro Ham Ham Games
Fairly Odd Parents Volume 1 (great for car rides)
Fairly Odd Parents Volume 2 (great for car rides)
Beyblade Grevolution (which is actually a great game and I don't know anything about Beyblade)
Tony Hawk Undgerground 2 (GC)
Tiger Woods 2004 (GC)
Ridge Racer DS (which really is better than I was imagining as I used to seriously play Ridge Racer 64)

Overall it was a great sale. Also I picked up Midway Arcade Treseasures 2 (GC) as they actually had the game instore (which locally the only place I've seen it before was EB and their stock games more often than not are also their display games... thus opened and messed with).

Anyway I only lurk here (mainly post on IGN under the same name) so figured I'd take a moment to post since there was another CAG'er there waiting for CC to open.
 
The ad didnt advertise having any particular titles, its one of those sales where whatever clearance games they may have in stock, that's what will be on sale

I will never get over the stories of people coming in and picking up a cartload of games, especially since most of the games here are only worth about 10 bucks... i picked up a couple extra BK's and an extra POP2, but only after making sure there were extra's in stock of each... the only reason I might sell these few games is to recoup my costs on the few games I bought... (nothing wrong with cutting the costs even more on games I purchased for 8 bucks with pricegrabber rebates and reselling a few games)... the scene in my store sunday consisted on 2 others besides me digging through games... no pushing and shoving like during the 5 dollar last year (even I made out very well from it)... there were at least a couple hundred games total after I left...
 
Anyone check ebay yet for a sudden rush of these games? I'm a pretty frugal and smart game shopper, I usually check prices on ebay before I buy in store. If it's cheaper to get it on ebay new then I usually just go with that and avoid the sales. Like this CC $10 sale where most of the games on the list can be found on ebay for about $6 average, just gotta find the right seller with low shipping. Seldom do I find myself buying from stores anymore unless it's a really good deal. I have a backlog of like over 20 something games that I have yet to open and play because I fall into temptation too often and just buy if it's a good deal. :roll:

I've been considering getting baiten kaitos for a while now, but does anyone know if it's actually any good or not? I'm not too keen on the whole card thing, but the graphics I've seen of the game look beautiful. Any advice would be appreciated before I trek over to CC today looking for it.
 
Altoona PA CC was cleaned out by the time I got there-- I suppose word got round throughout the day (I stopped around 5 pm). The only thing of interest they had were a few double packs of GTA--- Nanobreaker, SVC, Katos--- were all gone.

Thanks OP for knowledge, It wasn't a 5 buck crazy-ville sale, but it was certainly nice to score a few games for much cheaper than they were selling for (Katos)
 
Well, I went today and got my Project Snowblind pricematched. I also picked up Rumble Roses, Dot Hack Outbreak, & SVC Chaos.

The Fields Ertel location still has a lot of the good games left (Project Snowblind, SRS Racing, GTA: Double Pack, KOF: Maximum Impact, etc...). I really didn't think there would be much left when I went today, but apparently not too many people hit this location over the weekend.

I just got back to State College, PA after the long weekend. Went to the CC here and saw that the binS (yes, 2) of $9.99 games is almost untouched :whistle2:#
At least 3 copies of kof, bloodrayne2, baten kaitos, onimusha, rumble roses, etc
Didn't look what xbox games were there since I don't own one.

I read somewhere on this post that the Altoona CC was cleared out... so those of you looking for games should come here... only a 45min drive :roll:
 
I got transformers, PoP:SoT (GBA), and MM:AC, but PoP:WW was nowhere to be found, which was the game I was most excited about (Baten Kaitos was also absent, but I am still only halfway through ToS, so it's not like I need another RPG right now). So I called another store and was informed that the game expert at the store said that PoP was only for PS.
Anyway, looks like I'll just be waiting for the 50% off to hit at TRU (and hoping PoP will still be there).
 
I took a stroll to the CC on Lexington & 86th during lunch - didn't pick anything up. This was about 10 min. ago, so the info. is current a/o the time of this post.

There is a bin set up in the gaming aisle. Here's what I remember:

A couple of Madden titles - I dont remember which one, or which systems.

Hopefully someone can get something :D

Yes, I know that sir. I however thought that all the $5 would stay at $5 until they were gone and the computer would keep the games at the price forever. Why did this one game go back up in price?

The sale is ongoing. It looks like it will run for at least a few weeks, maybe more. So keep hunting. I had one customer return 5 of the games at my store today so you never know when something might pop up. Those stupid hoarders could also realize their mistake and return some games.

The clearance/sale is both online and in-store but most of the stuff online didn't last long after the prices were updated Sunday morning.

Anyone in the East Bay Area know which store I should to go to pick up SRS for PS2? I passed on ordering it and after playing the demo a couple times, I wouldn't mind grabbing it for $10.
 
Just came back from CC and had them adjust the price of Baten Kaitos for me :)
Found lots of stuff in the bin, but the only stuff that grabbed my attention and I purchased were:

Bloodrayne 2 -Xbox
Thief -Xbox
SVC Chaos -Xbox

Not bad. Didn't expect CC to have so many titles this late in the game. They had a ton of PS2 stuff, but since I don't have a PS2 I didn't even look at it.
 
My CC has the Socom w/Headset (UPC Matched what's on the list), but it rings up at $29.99. :cry: They also say they have 4 each of the Project Snowblinds in the computer, but we couldn't find any. Oh well, I picked up a SRS for XB just so the trip wasn't a total loss.
 
Just to confirm what everyone wants to hear (and its verified by moi)...

THIS SALE IS GOING ON ALL THRU JULY.

Well not that it matters much, as by the end of this week (if then) most if not all the good stuff will be long gone leaving stores with floods of 2004 football and fly fishing games.

try the new store in union city on whipple road. i saw it on sunday though i didn't see baten kaitos, pop2, svc chaos when i was there. however if you're looking for other stuff, they are there. plenty of shadow ops: red mercury, hitman, second sight, sports titles, etc.

They're confused by the "July 3rd & July 4th" sale they were running on items like certain DVD's.

I vote on them not knowing shit, IMHO.
 
Yes, that still gives me time to pick up Blade Warriors!

...but is the game any good? I've heard mixed things about it. I'm obsessed with SSBM, so keep that in mind.

Everyone look at the signs with the $9.99 price on it. It states that the sale is running throughout July in small print
 
I concur that the sale is still going. Still a copy of Baten Kaitos, .hack (I had to get it - is it any good?) and a bunch of other crap still left.

Tomorrow I'll try another one and see if I can find my Transformers.
 
Quick question: Are the prices marked down on the games?
I went to one today (trying to get a copy of the halo2maps) and saw a bunch of these games (SRS and shellshock nam) but the price on them didnt say 9.99 and they werent in any bin.
 
Dude the people at my circuit city were idiots.. They forgot to change the codes in their system and the games rang up at regular price..


Freaking morons. I seriously think that CC hires the dumbest people on Earth.

Cool thanks, I'll give it a go. That CC is the second closest to me and I was leaning towards going there anyway since the Emeryville store probably won't have anything. Then if the Union store doesn't have it, I'll go down a bit more to the new Fremont store too.

On another note, did everyone elee's CC.com orders ship? Mine did.

The employees at store level has NOTHING to do with how the games are coming up in the system. Calm down, relax, and take a breather. There are far more important things in life than getting a game for $9.99.
 
OK, got back from the fourth of July weekend and wanted to share my CC experience.

I went to the CC in Glendale Calif. with 5 games in hand, Sunday morning. At first the cashier was all friendly and smiling, then she started ringing up the games.

"9.99? Is that right", she asked herself aloud. (I love with CSR's think outloud) She scanned the second one.

"Is this right?" she asked me. Before I could "yes, you have an ad in the flyer.", she with on the phone with a manager. He come over and she rerang the two games. A third CSR came to gawk. Now other customers were looking to see what the commotion was.

The manager had to ring over a 'new' game to make sure there wasn't a "glich in the system that was causing all the games to ring up $9.99"...He was satisfied hen Destroy all Humans rang up at $49.99. Now I have four CC employees...

Then the girl deceided it was one $9.99 game per customer. I asked her where it said that.

"It's just policy", she replied curtly.

"Well, it's my policy to speak to the manager when I think I smell B.S." I told her.

Manager came by and everyone was cool. He even told her that people could buy up to three of the same title. 5 Games, 50 bucks, bitches owned.

That's BS. IT's a clearance sale. They are 9.99 till they're gone. Of course here's what you'll find now: Van Helsing, SRS, Fight Club, Mafia, and nhl 2005 (at least for xbox).

I'm not sure if SRS or Fight Club are worth it but maybe...I didn't pick up SRS on purpose though because they had a lot of copies.

Actually, I can give you a better CC story from a week earlier. Anticipating the 8.99 sale on the Aladdin DVD at Best Buy, I bought the movie at CC, and would price match.

I take the DVD, receipt, and ad into the CC store on Sunset. Luella, the slowest CSR, I have ever seen (she's worked there since I moved here 5 years ago), takes 10 minutes to do the adjustment. Only problem, there's no one else around.

I look at the receipt and she didn't do the 110% PM, just matched the price. I tell her. She gets out a calculator and comes out with at least 3 different amounts. After a full 15 minutes, I tell her it's not worth it.

How could a 50 year old woman who worked at CC in the customer service department not figure out what 10% of 11 dollars is? It boggles my mind.

Thankfully, this issue was resolved on my second trip to CC. I walked up to the counter, of course I get the same guy who refused to give the extra 10% on Sunday. As I'm bringing up the 10% issue again and he starts to say no, a manager walks by (different one from Sunday), and asks what the issue is. I explain the situation, and he says "Oh yeah, we definitely price-match our own sales at 110%". The Sunday guy briefly mentions the lady manager from Sunday and how she said not to give the 10%, and then drops it, and puts the $10 or so back on my card. While he's doing it, today's manager says "You got a great deal on those", and I certainly agreed w/ him.
