According to DVDTalk user, Best Buy will be getting New Moon SteelBook on DVD & Blu-ray. This will be up for pre-sale just like Snow White, UP & This Is It. Keep your eyes on this.

Yeah, after the Chuck Season 2 fiasco where, despite the different SKUs, no store could tell the difference between the comic book edition and the normal edition, and the This Is It cover fiascos where the wrong editions were shipped, BB really needs to get their act together. I've been burned on both in-store pickup and shipping!

I don't know if I want to try to pre-order this and have it shipped, or hope a store doesn't screw up and reserve me a normal one, or what.

Any idea regarding how they work the final price for the Best Buy Steelbook if you have purchased the preorder card? With the online preorder price at 26.99, it should only cost an additional 16.99 with the deposit paid to buy the card. It would piss me off to find it at 34.99 when I go to pick it up...

Go back to BB, go the CS, pick up your copy, show the receipt, then pay the remaining the balance. You can always pricematch if you saw a lower price. Don't worry about the price being $34.99.

Thanks for the reassurance. I have lost all trust in BB preorders. I'll be bitter about the Hurt Locker Steelbook they screwed me out of for a long time.
 
I'm gonna have to go with the BD version from Target. They are the only vendor advertising a second disc with bonus content. You also get a collectible film cell, though Target says quantities are limited. The BD version that Amazon is selling only has 1 disc according to their website. I am assuming that is the case for everyone else but Target. I'd rather have more bonus features for a few extra bucks over a steelbook cover any day. To each their own.

Yes, Target is the only one that has an extra disc of bonus features right now for Blu-ray and DVD. They also did that with first Twilight movie. You can pre-order it on their website or just go into the store when it opens 8am Saturday, March 20. :)

so opinions on how rare these steelbooks will be? I just got back from my local BB and there were probably 75 or so of the dvd steelbook preorder cards and quite a few of the blu's still sitting there...

no interest in the movie but would pick up a couple if they are probably going to be rare...
 
I would say no because other countries releasing New Moon unless Best Buy is the only one sell New Moon alone so that would be rare. The Hurt Locker is much rarer because other countries didn't have that on steelbook.

Germany has The Hurt Locker DVD version in steelbook. Nobody had the Blu-ray except for Best Buy.
 
Walmart has finally announced their exclusive edition. It is being called "Ultimate Fan Edition" and will include bonus footage for the next chapter in the saga: "Eclipse". There's no mention of a bonus disc with extra features for "New Moon" so it looks as though Target will still be getting my money. I can personally wait to see bonus footage for the upcoming movie. Walmart currently has it priced for $29.96 on BD and $24.96 on DVD in case anyone is interested. The pre-order is up and running on their website.

Sounds like a good better deal to me. Will try BB since I am in the US tho. Can't believe I am going to try and get this even tho I know absolutely nothing about Twilight :lol:

WOW! It breaks my heart that Best Buy cannot match the awesomeness of their Canadian counterpart... Is there any way at all for us down south to make a FS purchase? I am happy to pay a modest premium for those I can't buy directly, but eBay and Amazon marketplace gets ridiculous.

Based on updated images on Best Buy's website, it seems like the Blu-ray SteelBook will be the same DVD-sized casing as the DVD SteelBook.

I would say at this point that Future Shop Canada is the way to go for those of us who prefer uniformity in our Blu-ray SteelBook collection.

I'm sticking with my BB pre-order...wish I could get the Twilight one though. Would be neat for uniformity.

DO NOT preorder from BB!! Twice in a row they've screwed me out of my preorders (and never got anymore in stock). One was a label maker gift, but the other was the Mass Effect 2 CE, and I even confirmed with them before pickup that they had it behind the counter waiting for me. Not only did they NOT have it, but were sold out and never got any more copies in stock. I for one will NEVER preorder anything from them again.

But I'm not bitter. ; )

This is for the Canadian release.

So here are the details on what it is we have been able to secure for you, our loyal customer! Please note there will be DVD and BD steelbooks both available in their respective sizes and with the same bonus detailed below. We took the unusual step of creating a DVD steelbook for this title because of the demographic of the film and let's face it, not everyone has a Bluray player or a PS3. Just wanted to reiterate this as it is not a return to DVD Steelbooks for us as a trend but an anamoly based on one large group that represents a good chuck of the customer base for this film.

Details: (I will refer to the BD version to help simplify this)

When you preorder online or pick up the New Moon Steelbook BD instore you get:

New Moon Steelbook case with New Moon BD packaged inside and
bonus Twilight Steelbook empty case with no disc (we assumed you have already purchased) :D

These will be shrunk wrap together so when you buy the New Moon Steelbook, you automatically get Twilight Steelbook. No extra steps are required to get it as they ship to us stuck together. If you notice this costs you no more than 1 BD/Steelbook so the extra Twilight Steelbook is a true free bonus to you guys.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Bummer-I was hoping that the free Twilight BD Steel would have different art than the original Spanish Steel, in the FS tradition of using different art. But thanks for posting the pics!
 
Shit I might have to order the DVD for the gf then since I forgot to look to on here and see if the BR came as a combo pack, and I went ahead and got the BR.

There's only 1 disc. Combo-Pack are the exclusive one, I think Target that is.
 
The 2-disc version that Target is selling is not a combo pack. It's just a second disc with extra features.

Included in this edition are the Standard Edition Blu Ray plus a exclusive second disc of over 60 minutes of never before seen content and an exclusive bonus collectible film cell.
 
Does anyone know how Best Buy will handle in store preorders for this? I'm wondering whether they will set aside preorders or will I have to grab it off the shelf like everyone else?

Seriously, Best Buy has no clue how to handle pre-orders. Some stores will pull stock aside, some seem to not have a clue-- it might be best to grab one if you see it and then go to customer service, just to be safe.

Highly suggest you grab a copy in the store and take to the customer service desk. Also remember to bring your PRESELL card & receipt due to this POSSIBLE reason.
