The next Mario game should be Newer Super Mario Bros. Ex Alpha Gold Hyper Champion Edition: Demented Subtitles.
 
is it just me, or has bowser become a total badass... in the one video with him, he just reeks of... uh... yeah. I also love the little touch of him turning into a skeleton when burning in the lava... it almost could be considered gory, but not really ;)

I've played through the first two worlds so far, plan to do more before E3. It's called New Super Mario Bros. because it really invokes the spirit of the original SMB game -- same vibe, level structure, and many of the powers. It's cool that you can practically play it the same way as SMB, almost ignoring the new powers -- butt bounce, wall jumps, etc.

I'm not totally in love with it yet, but again I'm pretty early into it. Each world has about 12 stages, and then some Toad house type things a la Mario 3. The paths are slightly non-linear, like Mario World. You can choose to pass certain levels, but of course real fans will play through them all.

The 1up show covers New Super Mario Brothers. They are loving it, except the minigames on single player. Its 500mb, and only a fourth is Mario. But then again, they cover Mother 3 after Mario, so you might be interested in that too.

it's really just a good freind gaming site. I just thought the shirt was badass and I liked the sticker... sorry for the confusion. Though I do wish the website i work for, www.clubskill.com, would have gotten me a copy, but since it's a UK site, I rarely get any good titles... the best thing Ive gotten so far has been steambot chrinicles...

Very nice score. I'm surprised they didn't have a freelancer do the review since they should all be preparing for E3.

Since 1up has gotten rid of their decimal point system, NSMB might grab itself a 10/10 from there.
 
Apparently Craig just wanted to get the review out before the E3 craziness completely took over, which is fine by me :)

Too bad the game isn't out yet.. I want it :(
 
That is an exceptional review. Best platformer ever, indeed... I'll probably have it in a month :p Though I might just buy one outside of GR and hope that they somehow get it in soon enough for me to return it at the original place of purchase.
 
Wow, I didn't realize May 15th was the US release... lets hope someone has an amazing sale on this when the advance ads pop up sometime next week.

Even $30 at Best Buy would be nice, so I could just GGC it down to $25.

Wow, that's a good price. Hardly anyone has DS deals anymore. I figure if I can get it preordered at GR tomorrow, I'll give them till the end of the release week to get it in, then go ahead and PM it at BB.

usually CC has great deals on the first week of release for portbale games with an average of $5 off sale price. I'll probably pay full price, but great deal otherwise.

There wasn't... CC is crazy for putting this on sale, since it would have sold great even at $35.

I don't think the two extra days will justify $7 so sadly, I'll wait. I'll use that $7 to get lunch or something when I grab the game.

Ill buy one copy any store and and then buy another at CC when its on sale. Then I simply return the new copy to the original store of purchase.

The problem with that is that CC puts their own stickers over all their games, and it would be hard to peel them off without leaving part of the sticker still on it, which would look suspicious.
 
Man-o-man. I just beat Mario Sunshine for the first time, and after playing what felt like the pinnacle of 3D control in that game, I can't wait to get at this one. the 15th can't come soon enough!
 
I've been purposefully avoiding coverage. I know little to nothing about this game other than it mixes elements from different Marios.. and apparently, it's really good. I can't wait to pick this up.

:rofl:. Clearly I'm in the same boat. Still waiting on my preorders of Metroid Prime Hunters, Lost Magic, and Odama at Gamerush. They did get Brain Age in, one week late though, go figure. I'm going on a week+ business trip May 17th and MUST have this game before I leave as I will have LOTS of free time nearly every night. Maybe I can hit up some Atlanta GR's if mine doesn't get it in. I'm going to push them hard to do something for me (like reserve a copy in Atlanta) for me if they don't have it by Tues. Of course, the fuckers will have its street date as Friday (May 19th) as they always do and will say they can't help me until then.

I REALLY can't wait for this game. The only problem is that I bought my DS from my cousin when he came down to visit (Mario Kart DS, Nintendogs, Warioware Touched, the DS and some game cases for $125). But- he forgot the charger! And he's not coming down until the beginning of June!! ARGGH!!!!

$10 will get you a new charger at any Target/EB/WalMart/etc. Buy one when you pick up NSMB, or sooner.
 
ok, I want to get this game (espically since it's gonna be on sale at $28 and my DS comes next week) but what's the hype all about? I really don't see anything truly noteworthy about the game.
