New TV season

After hearing everyone rave about Veronica Mars I got the first season one dvd through Netflix and all I have to say is it delivers. It has the snappy dialogue and characters of a Joss Whedon series. Plus the lead lady is pretty smoking hot.

I have a decent amount of shows to watch....I wouldn't remember to record them all if it wasn't for my trusty DVR

Mondays : AD, Kitchen Confidential, Prison Break, CSI MIami
Tuesdays: Bones, House, Nip/Tuck
Wednesdays: Invasion and Over There
Thursdays: CSI and Night Stalker
Fridays Killer Instinct, Threshold
Saturdays, Nothing
Sundays Rome, Extras, and Curb your Enthusiasm

Can't wait for the New Season of The Sheild and The Sopranos Due out this winter

Oh yeah and for all you Arrested Development fans out there....don't hold your breath on a full season or a renewal, cause its still not getting the ratings it deserves despite all the critics loving it as well as the few fans that watch it.

Since all my shows were on repeats last night I watched Supernatural for the first time, pretty damn good, was a lot better than Night Stalker has been, It's too bad Supernatural comes on during My Name is Earl and The Office.

I have the same issue as well with a conflict (another show), which is why I have it recording on my living room Tivo.

If you can track down a torrent of the first one, it sets the stage for the background pretty good, though they do cover it decently enough in the teaser at the beginning.

I've seen them all with the exception of last night's episode, and they've been pretty good. The funny thing is trying to figure out what goverment body they're impersinating this week. :D

Threshold is also a recommend in my book. Have to start trying to look at Invasion and Surface to see if they're worth it as well.

Supernatural replays on Sundays. This past week it was at 8pm central but previously it was at 4pm. Needless to say my dvr missed the last one. :(

Edit: According to the WB's website it looks SN replays are at 8pm central now.

I watched the first 3 episodes of Invasion, trust me, it's not worth it. The pace is slow as molassas, the series doesn't exactly jive with how things were set-up in the pilot, and the characters just aren't that engaging.

Man i need to get atorrent for my name is earl episodes 2-4(they have only shown 4 so far right?)My local NBC company and cand cable company were bickering over fees and I didn't have a NBC station for about a year. Just got it back last week and saw the pilot last night what a funny show
agreed I keep waiting for it to get good but it just aint happening
3rd'd. The show has gone nowhere since the pilot. You could have missed every episode and watch this weeks no problem. I deleted my season pass for it this week. Watch Threshold or Surface instead.

Threshold is surprisingly still as awesome as the first episode. It's my favorite show on TV, behind Lost. I'm really trying to give Invasion a chance, but the story is going nowhere.

I guess I'm the opposite of you 3. I'm liking where Invasion is headed and Fichtner is great, but Threshold isn't holding my interest much and kind of bores me. I'm going to stick with Threshold through sweeps and make a decision to stay with it or cut it by then. Surface won't be on my To Do List...decided not to try that one out.

Yea there is no debate among critics that surface is the weakest of those three shows

That's probably becuase the crticts only watched the first episodes of those 3. Invasion did have the best pilot IMO follwed by threshold then surface. Surface has actually gotten better by actually *gasp* revealing new info and expanding the story. Invasion has told us virtually nothing since the pilot.

Well I just downloaded the pilot of Supernatural, holy shit, the thing opens in Lawrence, KS. I wish I would have know that, it probably would have been enough to hook me onto the show :D I'll have to actually watch it later.

Not that anyone probably cares, but I'm bored. Here's what I dvr every week and thus recommend.

Mon - Arrested Development, Kitchen Confidential, Surface
Tue - House, Bones, The Office, My Name is Earl
Wed - Lost, Criminal Minds
Thurs - Alias
Fri - Threshold, Numbers, Killer Instinct
Sat - nuttin
Sun - Simpsons, Family Guy, War at Home, American Dad, Supernatural

Adult Swim stuff on various/multiple times - Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Stroker & Hoop

Anxiously awaiting the return of - Scrubs, The Shield, Sopranos

Whew! Thank god for TV on DVD for stuff I miss such as: Smallville, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 24, Entourage, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Veronica Mars, etc.

Wow, that pilot kicked major ass, and the 2nd episode was pretty good too. I like the idea of a show which takes folk tales and urban legends and hunts down the spirits behind the myth. Looks like I'll definitely be recording this one from now on.

That show doesn't let up either every episode has been solid. What site do you use I have three episodes of my name is earl i missed

The ones I watch (when I can):

Numb3rs

I'm still surprised that this smart series made it through its freshman run. I was expecting it to fly over viewers' heads as being too complicated to follow. Math rocks.

Kitchen Confidential

Reminds me of one of my buddies who is a chef in Washington DC and is exactly like Jack. Good stuff

Lost

'Nuff said

How I Met Your Mother

I was prepared to hate this (as I'm wont to do with most comedies with laugh tracks) but I've grown to like it. Plus I can appreciate any series that allows Doogie Howser to act like a pompous ass. Also, Alyson Hannigan has geek hottie written all over her which is always a bonus in my book.

Smallville

I have to watch it as I'm a big comic geek and Kristin Kreuk is easy on the eyes so it's not hard to tune in.

Shows I haven't seen but looks promising:

Arrested Development
Supernatural
My Name is Earl

AD didn't impress me that much in the 1st episode but considering the rave reviews, I'll give it another spin... though I'll wait till I can get it on DVD

Supernatural still doesn't look that good to me but if it can bring back those good feelings that the early Xfiles show did, I'm willing to give it a gander.

My Name is Earl comes highly recommended by my friend though he's a big Jason Lee fan so I don't know if I should believe in his biased opinion. Ppl here seem to like it so I'll check it out.

I'm liking all of these shows you mentioned above except Numb3rs. I gave up on it last year and tried it again this year and it's just something I can do without (and I'm a numbers nerd when it comes to baseball stats).

Earl has great heart and is a show that just puts a smile on one's face. Love it.

Supernatural is like a mini horror movie (albeit tame) each week and is entertaining for what it is. One will like it even more if they are into urban legends. I'm liking it, but I hope they can add some more regular characters to give this show some legs in the long run. I'm along for the ride as they search for their dad and battle baddies, but I'm curious as to where the show will go once they find him.

Never heard of that one, I might have to check it out. You just can't go wrong with NPH.

AD is excellent, but if you've never seen it before you really should start from the beginning. You'll be missing way too many of the jokes otherwise.

Earl's really good, but I'm also a Jason Lee fan. So I guess that doesn't mean a whole lot coming from me.

I've been watching:

Lost

The Office

My Name Is Earl

I want to watch Alias, but I missed all of last season (which I just picked up on DVD). I hope I can catch up... but I got a lot of homework to do.
Is it just me or does there seem to be more well hyped shows coming out this TV season. It's got my DVR overflowing trying to sample everything to see whats good. Use this thread to discuss the new shows here are my views of what I have seen below

Prison break- My favorite new show of the year so far. Not only do you have to wonder how they will get out but you have to wonder why his brother was set up. You really have to suspend reality a lot during this show though a lot of things happen that aren't even close to possible.

Reunion- I really liked the idea behind the show but the show semed to drag. I'm willing to give it a few more views because it has potential.

Head cases- Adam Goldberg is really the only reason to watch this. The show was funny at times but quite bland in the majority.

Supernatural- I thought this was going to suck but it ended up being quite good IMO. Was very creepy throughout but I can see this as being a show that will struggle for viewers and get canned

Bones-The dialogue was crisp and funny but the procedual plot has been done a million times. If this show can't find a fresh angle it is going to get canned. The chemistry of the two leads is pretty good as well.
Weeds is a great series to check out

Yeah, NPH is more like his Harold & Kumar personality than Doogie Howser. It's good that he's finally breaking out of that mold. Even Starship Troopers couldn't do that for him.

I'd seen the 1st episode for AD but nothing after that so I can't say I'd never seen it but I just didn't think too highly of the 1st episode but once I get the DVD set, I might change my mind.

Is Earl supposed to be a comedy or something like Touched by an Angel with a side of Clerks?

Thats actually kind of a good description of eaarl just add in a shade of red neck and not quite as sentimental as angel

Woot! Scrubs is back on TV beginning in January. two in a row will be shown when Earl and the office currently are. Earl and the office are going to thursday

Hooray Scrubs is back, unfortunately it's time slot leaves no other shows for lead in draw, sandwiched between Fear Factor and one of Law and Order Shows.

All of the good shows are starting again this month. The Shield starts next week, and Lost picks up after over a month off the air. And at the end of the month, the season premiere of 24.

Jan. 15th is 24 premiere, Battlestar Galactica starts back up friday, Monk starts back up Jan. 13th, The Unit premieres in March on CBS and looks promising

They need to move Scrubs to Thursdays - if that show Four Kings is any good they could be looking at a lineup that rivals the Cosby Show/Family Ties/Cheers/Night Court block from the 80s...

The Office has exceeded all of my expectations - it is one of the only shows I laugh out loud to every single week. Earl has also been a pleasant surprise this season...

Glad to see scrubs back but the two episodes were good but seemed a little off to me. May have just not been in the right mood to watch them. Also it seemed that the lighting was a lot darker. I actually used the break to catch up on lost which is very solid and rescue me which totally blind sided me by how good it is

Wasn't Sarah Chalke written out at the end of last season due to not being able to pay the entire cast their escalating salaries? They have to get her back to the hospital and that is going to seem awkward and forced no matter how they do it. Gee, now that she's jobless I wonder where she will end up?
