New XBOX Experience - General Discussion

thanks for all the help...... seems my Game card might ship tonight already went into shipping soon mode.....

HOpefully they come tomorrow when im home.. I doubt they will leave it on the doorstep...

got an xbox 360 and a pc coming tomorrow... UPS man going to have to make a few trips to my house tomorrow LOL
I thought Arcade units didn't come with free trials of live?
I think you get it just for creating an XBOX Live account. So by creating a gamertag you'll be given a month of live for free.

Has anyone had a problem using their iPod/MP3 player? I connected it yesterday and it was reading the library forever while I played Gears for 2hrs. I didn't have a problem with it before. Then again, I'm connecting an iPod with 24GBs of music rather than a shuffle or something.

Yeah... it took forever building a playlist when I hooked my zune up and I just canceled it. Streaming from PC still works fine but GoW2 lags for some reason when I do that.

I tried my zune 2 days ago and it went TONS faster than the old OS. This time it loaded it up per artist, instead of before where it only ever loaded up individual songs. And loading up a list of 5000 songs takes forever, but 200 artists, not so bad at all.

Indeed. There is no card or anything in the box. You create an account, and they basically hold your hand towards getting the free month.

Be sure to create it on the box though. My last Gamertag I created on the web, and it didn't give me the free month.

I thought people said you got 1 FREE month of xbox live with the arcade.... Netflix say i need a gold membership and said its only the Silver you get free so i need to buy a card

FREE TIME will not work with netflix

WTF--- seems netflix workers have no clue either way for some freaking reason its not working... Will probally have to run out tomorrow and buy a 1 month code for 8 bucks and see if it works

also should i pay the 60 bucks and get the 2 year warrenty xbox gives you

anyone know what the basic warranty is

my credit cards doubles it ..

thanks

If streaming Netflix stuff is all you're going to do with it, paying for Gold isn't remotely worth it. You can use other devices-or even the 360, streamed through a PC with a third party app. Not to mention the real Netflix service itself is better.

well a year of gold (13 months ) Only ran me 38 on amazon... What should come in 2 weeks

say 3 bucks per month.... I will just cancel my Stars what im paying 8 per month for and that will pay for it alone...

I will probally play games online as well but as i start out it be like 80 % netflix 20% online games

I might just grab a 1 month code off meijers or best buy tomorrow if i can not figure out why its not working

*until i get a hard drive

should i buy the 2 year plan for 60 or not

You know you need to subscribe to Netflix too, right? (Not trying to sound like jerk, but I wasn't sure you knew).

For me, Netflix itself makes it's own streaming service pointless.

Plus, I'm not sure how well it works, but for a one time cost there's a program that'll let you do the streaming through your PC to the Xbox.

I'm too lazy to turn on my Xbox/read pages upon pages of this thread that I'm behind on, so I'll just ask:

Have they added any new clothing options yet?

Sounds like you're probably talking about PlayOn. It's not too bad at all. I used it for the last month. It's nice that it lets you stream to both the 360 and PS3, with the Wii coming soon. You also get very easy access to content from other places (eg, CBS and ESPN), but I never used any of that.
Hopefully, future games will consider hard drive installs, and not use the caching system found in games like Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto 4. There is a high-possibility I will not buy games that experience problems when installed.
I'm hoping they don't. I think games should primarily be created to run efficiently from the disk, and not "force" people to install games to make them run properly.

But at the same time, people shouldn't be punished for wanting to install their games to the hard drive. Of course, I doubt that will be a problem in the future, Developers are now fully aware of the feature and will obviously work out a happy medium. There shouldn't be anymore Halo 3 or GTA4 situations.

Weird, it worked today when I plugged it in. I played an album, came back, and it gave me the reading content thing again. The music was still playing, but I couldn't see the device anymore. This is weirddd.

Kinda weak honestly... I am a big christmas buff I would have liked some holiday stuff. Some of us never wear this stuff ( I am in AZ) It would be nice if they added stuff that would appeal to EVERYONE.

sad thing is I will probably end up using them anyways...

Just pretend your going to flagstaff :p
Saw it on my spotlight and it autoupdaded the clothing options under avatars.
Woo! Its live :p

Though I only got 4 items, the flame beanie
the brown orange jacket
the black boot
and the blue gloves

Guess the other stuff is for girls?
the blue jacket
the red beanie
and the pink gloves

(I already had the winter coat)

why the girls got way more is weird. I know women tend to shop for clothes more etc. I just want enough stuff out there my guy does not look like every other avatar.

In a few months you'll be pissing and moaning, with the rest of us no doubt, about MS' plans to release micro packs of clothing items at 100 space bucks a pop.

Seriously, the only time I look at avatars are on the CAG forum, and that's because people's "MyGamerCard" is in their signature. I rarely look at the real friends list in the dashboard that has people's avatars on it, because I normally go to the Xbox Guide and view my Friends list from there, and it's just like the past friends list.

I don't mind dressing my guy, but depending on what it is, 100 isn't 'that' bad. That's less than $2 for something I would probably only buy once in my lifetime. If I felt cheap, I would just ask my friends if I could borrow $.25, and before I knew it, I could scavenge up $2. Now I know that's not the point because Microsoft is still charging 100, but I still don't mind. If it's anything more than 100, then that's pretty ridiculous.

Hey, why the hell is everybody wearing my Exclusive Ski Jacket I just got my Avatard!

Does anyone know how to check your NAT type?

It doesn't seem to be in the same place it once was.
If not, does anyone know if there is any warning or a way of knowing its open?

Um, gross. I don't want to know anymore about your Nats.

I just can't see paying actual money to change a few pixels.
You should be able to design your own t-shirts like in Rock Band.

Yeah, I can't seem to find out how to check either. The only way I seem to know how to check is to put in a copy of Halo 3 and search matchmaking, it usually tells you if your NAT is not open.

Never mind, found a way. Test you xbox live connection, and at the end of the test, if your NAT isn't open, it will say there is an error with the connection, and by pressing more info, it will tell you what your NAT is.

Hee hee, I made your post look funny now.

My guy looks like Mr Puterschmidt from Family Guy. I speak of the epiode where Peterotica causes him to go broke and he trys to sell pot to Meg with Peter. Great Episode

thanks, i think i came to the same conclusion after searching through the webs
mines has been open since way before the NXE but i was thrying to help a buddy open his
funny thing is, he also tried putting in Halo 3 to get the message

Eh, the interface still stinks, but what else is there to say? At least you can memorize where stuff is. A lot of the new features are cool though (not that they have anything to do with the new interface).
My cousin is unable to get his hd dvd drive to work ever since NXE. Anyone heard of that problem or experienced something like it?
Mine works great.
