I think if Newegg, which is probably the best company to order things from on the entire internet, offered you a credit or a replacement, and you want more, well, i'll bite my tongue for the rest of this message.
Thank you for contacting Newegg.

We humbly apologize for the unfavorable circumstances. After checking, we show the item is brand new. If you would like to keep it, we are willing to offer you a $5.00 credit for the inconvenience. Or we are willing to offer you a replacement. Please let us know your option and then we will be able to further assist you.

Take the $5 and keep the game, or argue more? Seeing as how some people got the game free or close to free I think I'm getting low balled. What do you guys think?
which game did you recieve used? or rewrapped i should say, i ordered 2 GRAW2 and they refunded all 20

I wouldn't keep pressing them more. I think it was truly a mistake not on their end but on the distributor. I love newegg and would feel bad to keep pressing about more.

This is the same company that did something cool though. I ordered a new monitor. All I asked about was if there was any way to receive the rebate any other way. Well it dropped in price a few days before and they gave me a 20 dollar credit for it. This was pretty much when I almost had the monitor in hand too.

They have great CSRs. Especially the head guys on the eggxpert forums. They do their best to please the customers and sometimes it's not always about getting the most out of the situation, but to just realize that newegg did anything at all and be grateful.

Blue Dragon sold by Amazon is 19.99
They advertised Ghost Recon 2 as new but it definitely wasn't new. Did I miss something?
Answered my own question.

Well everyone else is sharing thier experience, I might as well share mine. I just received it today and sure enough the case was pretty beat up infact it almost looked and felt like a dog had got a hold of it (felt like teeth marks on it) The plastic wrap around the case looked like someone had done it in thier basement, definetely NOT retail plastic wrap quality. Opened the game, the instructions were in excellent condition but the disc had scratches all over it (on the game side, the side that has the info on it) I have NOT tried this yet on my 360 so i cant tell you whether or not it works (hopefully it will).

Anyhoo, i called customer service and the guy was VERY nice. I was stern but very friendly (I work in a warehouse and although i do not do customer service myself, i know many of the girls in our customer service dept. and it breaks my heart to hear what they have to go through) so, I explained how much this was like a USED game and nothing like a new one. He was very apologetic and said that basically i should have received a NEW game because it was advertised as a retail game. He gave me 2 options, i could either keep the game and wait for more to come in (which he made it sound like it was going to be quite awhile before they replenish thier stock) and they would send me another one. Option 2: I keep the game and receive a FULL REFUND. I chose option 2! So i got my 10 bucks back, kept the game (which will hopefully work)

This is only the second time I have dealt with this company, and although the fact that I got a USED game from them kinda does not sit right with me at all, I however on the other hand am VERY impressed with thier customer service and would do business with them again without hesitation.

I sent them another e-mail. I'm going to install it to the HD and pray it works. It had a light scratch or two on the disc yet the manual looked perfect. I will see what they say.
What the hell is going on with them selling used games as new?
As was mentioned by a few users, it's obviously a case of them receiving this crap from a bad distributor.

I'm glad your case had a favorable outcome, Mrmagoo.
There are a few companies that understand that people don't stop buying because of mistakes made, but rather poor customer service afterward.

Newegg and Secondspin are the two online companies that have done everything they can, for me, to rectify my order issues.
As was mentioned by a few users, it's obviously a case of them receiving this crap from a bad distributor.
Okay, but why are they still sending them out and is it certain games or random games across the board? This type of thing makes me hesitant to order from them...

Unless I'm missing something, it was mostly copies of GRAW2. Newegg is one of the most trusted and reliable e-tailers. I buy computer components worth hundreds of dollars from them. There's no reason not to deal with them. They will rectify the problem if there is one.

The game worked fine. I'll push a bit more but if they stay at $5 then I'm ok with that, although I expect this situation to never happen again with Newegg.

Yeah, like others have said, this is kind of like an isolated incident. Things like thing RARELY happen, and they always rectify the problem.
Yeah, like others have said, this is kind of like an isolated incident. Things like thing RARELY happen, and they always rectify the problem.
It's not an isolated incident. They did something similar with the Halo Legendary sale several weeks back. For the first couple of people who received the box and helmet without the game, they kinda messed around with them and directed them to Microsoft who in turn directed them back to New Egg. The situation was finally handled when more complaints came in, but it's pretty naive to think that New Egg is on the side of the consumer. I buy from them and will continue to do so, but I'm not just gonna give them a pass when it seems like they are continuing not to exercise quality control when receiving stock from their vendors. It's a problem and they need to deal with it at the source rather than depending on the fact that many consumers less informed than the CAGs on this board will not realize they have received used goods.

It is an isolated incident because I've been dealing with them for years and years and it's an exception.
And to assume that they're not on the side of the consumer because they are out to make money is absurd.
They have said they are fixing the problem, and have offered better than fair restitution. What do you want?
Want them to come grovel at your feet?

Indeed. A business is obviously, first and foremost, out to make money and do what is best for the company. But Newegg has great service and takes care of their customers. Been dealing with them for years and for things a lot more expensive than a clearance game. Never, ever had an issue.
Is it safe now to order GRAW2? or are the risks still there?
You could be the guinea pig! Worst case scenario you get a used one and get half your money refunded, which seems to be the worst outcome anyone has had as of yet.

Do you understand the definition of "isolated incident"? I have cited two separate incidents in the span of a month on just one category of merchandise they sell. If you spend some time on Google, there are dozens of other complaints about computer gear and other electronics that are not new as represented. I'm not claiming that they didn't respond appropriately and I'm not saying I won't buy from them. I'm just saying their inventory management system is poor if they are accepting goods as new which clearly are not from vendors and nobody is catching it as they are being boxed and going out.

I hate to break it to you, but no company on the planet is on the side of the consumer and New Egg wouldn't have to make restitution if they didn't do something wrong in the first place. If they hadn't refunded or replaced the merchandise, they would have been in violation of fraud laws, so it's not like they are doing this because they love us.
You could be the guinea pig!
ehhh, no thanks. I was once a guinea pig for some experimental medication and now my pee is blue. I'm not making that mistake again.

not occurring or happening regularly or frequently; rare

Yeah, i know the definition.
And yes this IS an isolated incident, jerk.

They sell to millions of people a year, so dozens of complaints are:

not occurring or happening regularly or frequently; rare

But thanks for the lesson.
You're wrong.

People, people. You're arguing on the internet. Let's accept that you're both idiots and call it a day. :D

bojay, those complaints you heard. Were they from people who bought open box items that were labled as such but thought they were new?

The fact is, that newegg does not do this often and I guarantee they don't set out to do it on purpose. Myself and many, many others who have been shopping with newegg for years know this.

They are from people that bought items which were listed as new and either came obviously opened and missing items or had been used and repackaged. Again, I buy from New Egg and I have not had problems with them. It's not isolated and it's obviously not rare since everyone who bought GRAW2 experienced the same issue. Heck, one guy even had to deal with it twice because New Egg wasn't on top of things enough to check that the second copy they sent him was new.

All I am saying is that this is the second set of sale items in the past month which was advertised and sold as brand new and was obviously acquired from a vendor that processes unsold or returned merchandise. My criticism is that on the Halo thing they were quick to not take any responsibility and on this thing, they have tried to negotiate partial refunds for people rather than just exchanging it for a new item or refunding the full amount. Amazon and most other on-line retailers don't buy and resell returns or unsold stock. New Egg does. Sometimes it works out for us and sometimes it doesn't. That was my point. It's not something that's supposed to be the subject of an argument because there is no dispute that this has happened twice now and people have had to call customer service and get it handled, sometimes multiple times to get it resolved. I would appreciate it if New Egg would review their purchasing procedures, especially in light of the fact that they had a problem with Halo less than a month ago. That's all.

Bojay, I understand where you are coming from, and I apologize for acting immaturely, and ridiculous actually.

Reading this thread and seeing people trying to get more and more out of newegg annoys the hell out of me.
That has nothing to do with you of course.

I hope everyone gets a satisfying resolution to this fiasco.

As far as NewEgg stepping up QC, it might be tough - I thought people were reporting the GRAW2 copies as being in shrinkwrap? I'm sure to someone receiving or shipping it out it looks new, and the cost of investigating each item more thoroughly - however that might even be done - might be greater than accidentally receiving bad product. However, if they are repeatedly buying from a vendor that keeps sending used stuff - well, they'd better look more closely into that.

Myself, I have never had trouble with them - I haven't bought thousands of dollars worth of stuff, but I've bought my fair share of computer parts and the shipping is great and issues usually resolved fairly quickly. I think the chance of occasionally receiving a lemon on some things is the price you pay for buying online. This wouldn't happen at Best Buy (most likely), but then the game would be 2 to 3 times as much. Just my two cents.
Is Lost worth it for $10? I'm a fan of the show but am wondering if the game itself is any good.
It's pretty bad, and I'm a huge fan of the show. Bad story, some bad voice actors, stupid smoke monster everywhere, and a bad ending (some people love it, though). It's an easy 1000/1000 in only a few hours, though.
Is Lost worth it for $10? I'm a fan of the show but am wondering if the game itself is any good.
I enjoyed it enough. I think as a $10 game it's worth if you love lost and love achievements. If you ever wondered what it would be like to explore the Dharma stations, then this lets you do that. I disagree with the guy before me, I actually enjoyed the way they made the story fit into the main story line. The smoke monster is annoying, yes, but I enjoyed the fuse puzzles and some of the other puzzles. Again, it's a short 1000 points, and it's fun to explore the lost world (IF you're a big fan).

I can say as for my copy of GRAW2 and the one my friend got, they didn't have the sticker or seal (whatever you want to call it), but the games were both immaculate with no signs of ever being removed from the case. It didn't seem any different from what Game Stop does when they sell opened games as new.

Again, that's just my personal experience.

I know some will disagree, but I definitely think Lair is worth that price.

I beat it before the analog stick patch and got many golds. I think it was pretty fun for the $20 I paid.
Oh man, I love the concept of Lair, but the bad reviews... What to do? Do we think this will go lower?
hard to say. most $15.99 games have stayed there or gone up. then again, we saw Double Agent recently fall from $16.99 to $12.99.

BUT...people have successfully price adjusted $1.00 (for Dark Sector) and $2.00 for The Simpsons so that protects you

Hmm, Lost sounds more like a rental than a buy even at $10. Maybe I'll pick it up along with something else if there's any other price drops coming up.

I almost wanna get Shadowrun ... but something is stopping me.

I'm not sure if it's the idea of there being no one to play with and it's MP only or if the people who do play are so dedicated that it's almost impossible for noobs to really get anywhere.
