Many copies of Crackdown included the seal, as I have seen them in stores sealed that way and other people on here have reported getting it in that cheap style of factory sealed from other sites such as Amazon. Blue Dragon contained the same style of seal. Every copy of Crackdown at the Target and Best Buy's I have been to has that type of seal.
Sorry, but this is incorrect. I obtained my copy from Amazon and it had standard Y Fold wrap. I have seen many, many copies at Target and Best Buy over the past few years and not a single one was anything but Y Fold. Also, Target and Best Buy haven't stocked the regular version of this game in a year or more as it went Platinum. Microsoft does not use anything but Y Fold in the United States other than for Blue Dragon and even then, it was only because of the additional discs and the concern that the pressure from the Y Fold Wrap on the case could cause problems. If you look at Ebay, there are probably 5-6 auctions with actual photos and every one of them is Y Fold. What New Egg is selling were likely Canadian copies and they simply unwrapped them, removed the extra booklet from the outside of the case and reshrinked them.

I'm not denying that y-fold editions exist as I have seen them sealed that way on eBay and in Platinum Hits style cases, but I have also seen tons of copies sealed with the cheaper wrap in retail stores such as Target and Best Buy. Also, others on here reported getting a cheap looking shrink from Amazon. Do you really think everyone is just happening to reseal copies of Crackdown for no reason, despite the fact that it contains the Microsoft seal and everything inside has never been touched? Since both have confirmed as being seen, we can at least agree that both variations in sealing exist. Not sure why some would be sealed differently, but I have seen them both ways but Blue Dragon only with the cheap shrink wrap.

Same here. I've seen new copies at multiple places in the past (CompUSA, Circuit City, Target) and they all had the Cellophane Y wrap.

I have no idea what Newegg did or didn't do to their copies, or why it really mattters, but Microsoft definitely has used regular shrinkwrap before - having opened several hundred cases of Halo 3 at retail when it first came out, along with Crackdown and a few others, it was not unusual at all to find shrinkwrapped new releases. Anecdotes about what wraps you have bought or seen are not proof of what has or hasn't been used.

While I can't say that I remember what every copy of Crackdown that I've ever seen has looked like, I can say that when I bought my copy at Sears last year (regular version, not Platinum) it was most definitely shrink-wrapped, not Y-Fold wrapped. I remember doing a bit of a double-take at the time when I saw it, but seeing as Sears doesn't sell used games, and the security seal was definitely still in place, I'm pretty sure that it was the original wrapping. So while it's possible that the game was done both ways, and even that the Y-Fold is more common, there were definitely factory shrink-wrapped copies out there.

Honestly, I'd say that if the security seal is there and everything looks new inside, there's not much to worry about. The likelihood that they got in a large stock of copies that were used but still had the security seal intact is pretty low (I mean, seriously, who saves those?).

Really, some people are being way too damn picky for a $10 game.

Just because you've seen all something somewhere in this condition doesn't make it true everywhere. Games aren't all pressed in one day, there can be reprints and different materials can be used. I've noticed minor things before in some games where the colour of the paper CD sleeves on multidisc games are different, and minor things on how something is boxed.

My Crackdown (from a retail chain) was shrinkwrapped, and no signs of being opened or used. So I'm happy.
Sounds to me like alot of people want any excuse to call Newegg and get some free stuff.
.....or just bitch and whine on CAG.
Does anyone remember if there are PS3 exclusive bonuses for this title?
It has one free map to download on the PSN (I think), and it also has an extra map with the map pack download. It is supposed to look SLIGHTLY better on the PS3 as well.

I have it on the 360, I wish I could swap :whistle2:X
.....or just bitch and whine on CAG.
Well, considering how many times New Egg has shipped used goods or foreign goods out to people just on this board, it's not surprising that we are very concerned and defensive about anything out of the ordinary. In almost five years of buying games from Amazon, I have never once received a used or foreign copy of a game. In fact, I can't think of any other vendor I have ever dealt with that sent me a used or foreign copy of a game. So, yes, I'm concerned, but still willing to deal with New Egg because there are still a few titles that they sell that are cheaper than anywhere else.

Thanks. Doesn't sound like it's worth $10 just for those things. (Have it on 360 also already, too.)

I bought another copy of red faction: guerrilla a few days ago and it should arrive at my home today. I'll let ya know if mine's resealed or not ;D

I bought to return to sam's club since I purchased it there for $38 a couple days before I bought it online :p

Just got (all for 360)

Eat Lead
Kingdom Under Fire
Red Faction
Viking

All factory sealed. All with the security sticker. Now I think everyone needs to shut the fuck up about it.

There's nothing more ironic (i.e. ANNOYING) than someone b*tching about someone else's b*tching! If you don't find the shrink wrap debate interesting, don't sit there and insult those of us that do. Go outside or something.

My opinion is that your post wastes more time than the posts you're b*tching about. And I guarantee you'd find this "b*tching" more interesting if you originated it.

This goes out to everyone who wants to act cool and above the conversation by pointing out people are stupid.

Re: Shrink wrap - I think both sides made some interesting points, and we can't really say much more without an industry insider giving us some better info!
really tempted on Lair. That was one of the games I always wanted to try on PS3..

The controller patch helps, but it's still not that good. You could do worse for 13.00 though.
I really wanted to like it because I loved the concept and the graphics are incredible for a first-generation PS3 game, buuuuut, even with the patch, the controls are just too loose for my liking and every mission being timed by an invisible timer just really got on my nerves.

Why is there so much bitching over what kind of plastic is being used to seal a game? The games are sealed with the Xbox stickers are they not? Even if we go with the "The xbox sticker was probably reapplied too" conspiracy theory all you need to do is look at the game. Does the disc look new? Does the manual look new? Does the case look new? Yes? Then stfu already. If you answer no to any of those then maybe you have a valid reason to complain.

I have paid $10+ for games at garage sales that looked like they were dragged through hell, and you people (yes I said you people) want to give Newegg grief over shrink wrap... lol...

The type of plastic used on the fucking box doesn't constitute if it's a new game or not.

I got 2 copies of Crackdown with the evil shrink wrap, but the one I opened was obviously a brand new game. Quit crapping up the thread with this nonsense.

Interested in metal slug 7. However, is it one of those super hard contra type games in which you have to memorize enemy placement to have any hope in progressing?

You are comparing a game you bought at a garage sale with a game that was re-wrapped so they could sell it as new...

Go buy a game at Best Buy, take off the shrink wrap and try to return it with your receipt for a refund. Will they accept it as a new item?

Edit: Out of all the games that I've ordered from Newegg, only Crackdown was not factory sealed. It is however nice to get a copy of Crackdown that does not have the platinum box art.

Stranglehold 360 for $7.99 isn't a bad price if you're a John Woo / Chow Yun Fat fan.

it isn't one of the harder Metal Slug games but yeah, memorization is kinda key to make it through the whole game without abusing continues (which you do eventually open up free mode)

MS7 is really tough but unlike Contra it's actually quite fun.

I'll be curious when ordered copies of Metal Slug DS arrive if it's the fancy copy with slipcover and dogtag. I remember seeing them at TRU. That might make me pull the trigger.
Two Worlds is pretty cheap:

PC - $5.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...20002&cm_re=two_worlds-_-32-220-002-_-Product

X360 - $8.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...80004&cm_re=two_worlds-_-74-180-004-_-Product

Is this game worth it? I read that it's a hard game and that there's no first-person view on the X360. How does it compare to Divinity II?
Hmm, I tempted to order this again from Newegg. I ordered Two Worlds from Newegg in May 2009. They sent me the Japanese version (NTSC-J). I got a refund (without having to return the version they sent).

Speaking of which, if anyone wants a sealed NTSC-J version of Two Worlds for the cost of shipping, let me know.

haha... I'm in the same boat... I would love to go out and buy more MS points cards, but my 20gb HDD is full, soooo..basically instead of spending money on content, i have to spend money on a device just to have room to store the content before buying the content bullshit
