NFL 2007 Season Thread
Hurray! Culpepper's riding the bench this week. Raiders might have a chance to win.
Oh snap, is the new guy coming in? Jemarcus Russell?

Nah, McCown's foot is better so he's back starting.

Oooooo....

I stopped following the Raiders the season after they lost the Superbowl. How good is McCown?

I think Warran Sapp either needs to get out of there and go to the Steelers, Bears, or Green Bay. It's just a waste for that guy, he deserves better :/
I don't know about all that. When you say can't compare Gore, Gore had his coming out party last year and had more total yards then Westbrook. He also can carry the ball 30 + times a game if you need him to, something Westbrook can't do. Don't get me wrong, Westbrook is a hell of a player but I don't think you can say you cannot compare the two. This year Gore's problems are not because of him. A terrible passing game will hurt your running game. When teams stack 8 or 9 in the box and they are not afraid at all of your down field passing abilities you cannot run the ball. I would also take Jackson over Curtis. Curtis had a couple of good games this year but he is no way a consistent player and on most teams he is maybe a number 2 WR if not a 3, just like he was in St. Louis. Jackson has his problems with drops sometimes but has always been a solid number 2 WR and was the number one target in Seattle.
Thank you. Not hating on Westbrook, one of the better RB's in the game, but he's a hybrid HB, more of the Reggie Bush mold.

I've been impressed by the first few games he played this year. His mobility is similar to Rich Gannon's. The Raider's story is the same old same old--weak offensive line and too many penalties. #65 Sims has a false start at least 2 or 3 times a game! Ol' Grandaddy Sapp has trimmed down and looks like he's in the best shape in a LONG time.

I don't know if you guys are aware of this story or if it has been mentioned before or not, so here it goes.

Anthony Smith, a back-up DB for the steelers and starting special teams beast, went up to Chad Johnson before last weeks game during pre-game warm ups and said "You better make sure you mouth piece is in because I'm gonna..." (heard about it on the mornin' radio and the DJ couldnt repeat the rest).

Later in the game, the same Anthony Smith hits Johnson so hard he knocks his teeth out! To be honest, I dont know if it was just one of his gold caps or his actual teeth, but you could see his mouth was bleeding. Also it showed Polomalu helping Johnson look for and pick up his caps. It was hilarious, they looked like they were looking for a contact. What is so hilarious about this is that he friggin warned him he was gonna do it!

After the game, remarkably, the usually verbose Chad Johnson did not say a single word to reporters.

Here is an article about Smith knockin' the crap out of TJ Whoseyomama: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07306/830547-66.stm

^ meh....

I was thinking more along the lines he actually hit him so hard it knocked his shit off. That was just Chad trying to headbutt the ground as hard as he could.
49-14 - 4th Quarter scoring: 7 points
41-10 - 4th Quarter scoring: 0 points
41-9 - 4th Quarter scoring: 0 points
51-24 - 4th Quarter scoring: 10 points (Titans scored all their points in the first quarter)

Peyton threw 18 TDs over those four games (six vs Detroit).

Over Brady's last four he has 17 pass TDs and 2 rush.

Just putting the info out there for those who are curious.
To follow up on this... Here's that 49-14 game, vs Houston: (pointed out to me by one of the three Texans fans)
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/playb...yPage=tab_play_by_play&season=2004&week=REG10

The last offensive TD was an 80 yard bomb to Dwight Clark, and Manning was still trying to throw bombs down the field even in their last posession late in the 4th. Frankly, I'm sick of other teams' fans acting aghast at what the Patriots are doing, they've acted no differently than any other team in the NFL.

The Pats are a great big kettle in a league full of pots. And they're all black.

My guess is that the Patriots will win this weekend. The Colts are impressive too, but my impression is just that the Pats are a better overall team, more balanced and well-rounded.

I Agree. The Pats are not running up the score. Being a Dallas fan I was no upset at all when they scored a TD at the end. Dallas was being the dick by calling a Time Out with under 2 mins left. Why would they call a TO? They only had 1 and there would be no way to stop the clock again or win for that matter.

Redskin Fans are mad since the Pats took their 4th ranked Defense and made it look like they were playing a JV High School team.

personally i love seeing teams run up the score. the patriots and belechick are making a statement, and its coming through loud and clear. this isnt peewee football where its just for fun and youre trying to let all the kids play. this is the nfl let em play how they want. if a few millionaires are upset because they lost 52-7 instead of 38-7 or 21-7, then boofuckinghoo. and if their fans are upset then maybe they should go watch some 12 year olds play on a saturday afternoon instead.

Well, it's all about respect for your opponent. They can do whatever they want if that's how they choose to play. If I was the opponent though, all I know is that somebody would get their block knocked off.

And all these Steelers hits bring back some nice memories of past games with the Bengals, along with the time Silverback slammed the Browns fan.
I'd rather watch a team attempt to score than watch them milk the clock.
Yea, it's more exciting and you get your money's worth ;O

I prefer teams to keep scoring just to see how far they can go.
It's probably because Bellichick is so easy to dislike. He's got this demeanor about him that comes off as pompous.
Huge, massive QFT there. Bellicheater is a douchebag to end all douchbagedness.

And there is one big differnece between the patriots and other teams in the NFL: They were caught cheating after they had already been warned about it, the fact that they tried to hide it after being warned only infuriates most people and inculpates them even more.

Another thing is the way the douchebag handled it, in his press conference he said that he "misinterpreted" the rules which is complete and utter bullshit because of the plain meaning of the language and (again) the fact they were trying to hide it. It was very Nixonian, and I dont have to tell you what happened to tricky Dick's popularity when he was unapologetic for getting busted cheating. Maybe all the other pots in the leage are black, but they weren't busted and until there is evidence of them doing the same, they're not the same as douchebag's team.

As to running up the score, i have no problem with a "constantly be attacking" attitude. Bellicheater isn't thinking of whether or not he is going to put a target on his team's back or whether he is staying within the good graces of the fan base. He is concerned with one thing and one thing alone: HOw is it that I can best prepere my team to beat the Colts, to beat the steelers, (or any other team that poses a threat to the patriots). By sending a message to his team, (like Gen. Patton sent the message to his soldiers) that they are constantly going to be attacking, he is preparing them mentally and physically to beat these teams that do pose legitimate threats to the success of Bellicheater and his douchebage team.

maybe not much to read into, but I found this a little interesting -

Patriots v. Packers and Green Bay wins ;O

I know, I know, right now it seems implausible and EXTREMELY unlikely, but wouldn't it be funny if history repeated itself :D?
...and the Packers let that guy go (Davenport)

Atleast Grant had a solid game last week, he was running guys over every run.
The Packers lost so many key/star/big players over the years, it just blows. A lot of their WR's, key defensive players, and well, just a lot of people. It's the NFL :(

Imagine if they still had everyone and Ahman Green w/out his fumbling nature.

i was just thinking. yes, theres a lot riding on the game coming up this week. but really, how big is the colts/pats rivalry. i mean when you think about it, or at least when i do, theyre just two great teams going for it all. theres no hate, theres no distaste. if anything, these two teams respect eachother more than any other "rivalry" in the past. i remember the good ol days of the 49ers and cowboys, now those two teams didnt like eachother. but it seems like the colts and pats just have nothing but good things to say... i hope somebody takes someone out or a late hit or something, because this rivalry is the lamest of all time.

And where do you find one with the two top teams over the past few years, led by two of the top QBs and coaches, surrounded by top players in their positions. Off the field, you find individual personalities (Brady/Manning, Bellichick/Dungy) vastly differing along with philosphies on how teams are run personnel-wise from the front offices.
For those of you with Fantasy Leagues and need a Wide Receiver, Chris Henry is playing in week 10. The man is good, but loves drugs SO much.
:applause:

I'll go ahead and add the wiki entry for his criminal histroy:

 • December 15, 2005 - Chris Henry was pulled over in Northern Kentucky for speeding and marijuana was found in his shoes. He was also driving without a valid driver's liscence, and without auto insurance. On January 30, 2006, he was arrested in Orlando for multiple gun charges including concealment and aggravated assault with a firearm. He was reported to have been wearing his Number 15 Bengals jersey at the time of his arrest. Henry pleaded guilty in both cases and avoided jail time in both cases.
 • May 4, 2006 - Cincinnati media reported that Henry is being investigated by Covington police in connection with a sex crime, which allegedly occurred in a hotel room in Covington, Kentucky early on April 30, 2006. No charges have yet been filed, and on May 24, 2006, Covington police reported that there is no proof anything happened and that the alleged victim might now face charges for filing a false police report.
 • June 3, 2006 - Chris Henry was pulled over outside on Interstate 275 at 1:18 a.m by Ohio Highway Trooper Michael Shimko. At 2:06 a.m. Henry voluntarily submitted to a breathalyzer test at Milford Police Department and registered a .092 blood-alcohol level, .012 above the level permitted by Ohio law. These charges have since been dismissed as it was proven that the breathalyzer used to test Henry at the scene was faulty.
 • September 25, 2006 in the early morning, Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was pulled over for a DUI. The truck Thurman was driving belonged to Rookie Reggie Mcneal. Neither McNeal nor Chris Henry were charged with any wrongdoing by authorities, however, Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis benched Henry for the Bengals loss against the New England Patriots.
 • October 6, 2006 - Henry was suspended by the NFL for two games for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policies. NFL policies forbid Henry from taking part in practices, however, he was allowed to attend any team meetings. Henry missed the Bengals' October 15, 2006 game at Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their October 22, 2006 game against the Carolina Panthers.
 • January 25, 2007 - Henry pleaded guilty to charges of providing alcohol to minors, an incident that occurred at a hotel in the spring on 2006. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, with all but two of those days being suspended.
 • April 10, 2007 - Henry was suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 NFL season for violations of the NFL's personal conduct policy. His suspension comes with a stern warning that future misconduct may result in the end of his career with the NFL. Henry has since been allowed to begin practicing fully with the Cincinnati Bengals by NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell. His suspension should be lifted and he will be eligible to play in the November 11th game versus the Baltimore Ravens.
 • May 18, 2007 - Henry allegedly failed a court-mandated drug test, where a field tested resulted in a false positive for taking an opiate, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The failed drug test would have been the third violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. A third violation, per league rules, results in a one-year suspension. In addition to having his suspension increased to 24 games, he would have had to serve an 88 day jail sentence. As of May 23, 2007, the State of Kentucky has reported that Henry in fact did NOT fail a drug test, and that earlier reports to the contrary are erroneous.
 • June 12, 2007 - Henry allegedly assaulted a 16 year old boy with teammate Reggie Mcneal. The claims were later reported to be unfounded and Henry and McNeal have been exonerated.

Has there been a player with a worse criminal record? Other than the obvious ones.

Wow, there was a prime example of Favre getting special treatment when it comes to the refs. In the 1st quarter Favre got a roughing the passer call against the Chiefs, a moment ago Huard takes an equally vicious shot yet it's a no call...

I think it would be naive to say that superstars don't get more calls in any league.

Jesus fucking Christ... what an horrible and embarrasing last minute that was. Between Jackson's injury and then the incompentency of the Vikings's special teams..... this team just sucks.
Longest TD in NFL history given up by Vikings, because Bald Clueless is too stupid to realize Longwell can't kick 58 yard FG's....
Tied for longest, Pats had a 109 return in week 1.
