NFL 2007 Season Thread

It seems we got the Colts' Bob Sanders to play tonight's Call The Play Football game online - if you want to play against him, check out my last post (I won't bore you by linking to the thread again).
I doubt it, they'll probably save it for Miami :p

Seeing how Miami has self-destructed, they might do it by accident.
Hell Tom Brady will just walk in at least one TD at least...... a backwards moonwalk that is.

Mario Williams > Reggie Bush. Bush have proven to be a 2 down, situational running back, while Mario Williams is now turning into a game changing pass rusher.

put bush on the pats and he will go randy moss crazy style.
you come off as being fucking arrogant...why don't you learn from the Pats and eat your humble pie..
I fail to see how correctly pointing out the reasoning behind carrying a likely blowout by the Patriots instead of two wildcard teams is being arrogant. Two wildcard teams playing each other isn't as interesting to the national audience as the Patriots and the drama accompanying this game are.

You don't think the Jets are going to get destroyed Sunday? The Pats are undefeated, the Jets are terrible, and the Pats have a huge grudge here. Everyone knows how bad the Pats want to beat the Jets, and the anticipation of how just how they're going to do it is palpable. It was the main story on every national outlet until the Mitchell report.

You're just pissed off because the Patriots beat your team by a fair margin last week. Pittsburgh had their right to complain about arrogance revoked when they talked about how they already "bought the plane tickets to New Orleans" before the 2001 AFC Championship.
put bush on the pats and he will go randy moss crazy style.
Not really. Reggie Bush dominated college football by being the best athlete on the field, by far. In the NFL, that gap is narrowed significantly. Bush cannot be a 20-25 carry running back.

Pittsburgh has FIVE superbowl rings with no astericks. Everything the Patriots have done and are doing this season is teinted with the stench of dishonesty, bad sportsmanship, and cheating. I love it, no matter what happens the rest of the season, the Pats have already lost.

I'm sorry.. the Patriots are holier than anyone.. what friggin joke...
...the Pats have already lost.
Except when they win. Which is all the time.
I've just accustomed myself to pandering to Pats' fans, 'cause I don't wanna hear the bitching and moaning or "we're better than the rest of society 'cause we're Pats/Boston fans" attitude.

Steroid use in the NFL started with those 70s Steelers teams. But hey, if you're willing to delude yourself to such an extent about the Patriots, you're probably more than willing to ignore what happened in your own house.

Nevermind that a Steelers team doctor bought $150,000 in HGH with his personal credit card this year. Nothing suspicious there!

By the way, how did the Pats cheat last week when they beat the Steelers by 3 touchdowns?

I don't see the Bad Sportsmanship thing you are trying to point out.

This is the shit I put up with here in Erie, PA. All Steeler Fans think their Holy Steelers can't do any wrong. Mostly all Steelers fans up here are rude assholes.

the 70's Steelers might haved used Steroids..but not as many as Cowboys and Raiders of that time...

nevermind that Rodney Harrison is using HGH right now...

I love that. "Well we did steroids but but but 2 other teams did them also so it makes it right!"

All of you guys that are still whining about videotaping and asterisks need to get over yourselves. The Jets viloated rules by videotaping New England last year, but apparently because they are about to get beat by 50 points the NFL didn't want to punish them more.

If the Steelers had played with a salary cap and had to go through the drug testing of today, how many Super Bowls do you honestly think they would have won?

you obviously don't read.. I can care less about that.. my main thing is how arrogant dafoomie is.. god I hope they win every game until the playoffs and lose...

I've been asking what I said that was so arrogant... No one wants to answer me.

I don't think its arrogant of me to presume that the Patriots will beat a 3 win team.

of course YOU wouldn't think what you said wasn't arrogant...but everyone cares so much more about the Pats... this isn't f'n baseball where there are 3-5 teams people care about that is it..

Even though i'm not a big fan of the Pats or Dafoomie, I'm unsure why you guys are hating on him so bad. I don't think he has said anything to show any arrogance.

Its not simply a matter of the public caring about the Patriots more than two wildcard teams. Its the culmination of the entire 'spygate' story. The public loves a story.

If you asked people if they'd rather see Bills/Browns, or see an angry Patriots team stomp the Jets in a snow game, most would want to see the Patriots.

Bills/Browns is for a potential playoff seed. We all know the Pats are going to do their damnedest to hang 100 on the Jets.

Give me two halfway resurgent franchises over potential perfection and a petulant coach.

You're in the minority. Bills/Browns is a fairly compelling game, Jacksonville/Pittsburgh is better. But ultimately, Pats/Jets would get the best ratings, and CBS knows it.

Sorry, but cochese is right.

The vast majority of football fans would enjoy a dramatic, competitive game more than an absolute blowout (even disregarding the likability of the Pats outside of New England). The spygate story isn't going to make the actual game any better.

Edit: If the maps are accurate, as they usually are, Jax/Pitt is being shown to a much wider audience than the Pats game. I guess CBS doesn't think the Pats will get the "best ratings" this week.

If the Pats go 16-0 and win the super bowl, their season will be forever remembered as, "The season they went undefeated and won the super bowl...and got caught cheating."

Against the Jets none the less!

You're correct. Football fans would probably take Pittsburgh/Jax 1st, but they'd likely take the Browns/Bills game over the Pats. But football fans are going to watch the games either way. The casual fan has been hearing about this story forever, and they would tune into this game. Pats/Jets would get higher ratings. Thats why CBS is airing that game in more markets.

Check the maps. I edited my post above yours a minute ago. The Jacksonville game is being shown to a wider audience.

Yep. Here in the Twin Cities we were originally going to get the Colts vs Raiders game since CBS is only single game for each market. However on Wednesday suddenly we were switched from that to the Pats vs Jets game. I know this since Zap2It and my Comcast box Tuesday were saying we had the Colts game... then Wednesday said we have the Pats game.

I'll take the Pats game FTW!

No. That won't happen.
Nobody will care or remember about Week 1 after the Superbowl (not saying they'll win, but if they do...)

i love how new england fns come out of the wood work...lol..no one in Boston cares nearly as much for their football team than the red sox...

Thats probably good then, Jax/Pittsburgh is a better game as long as Charlie Batch isn't playing.

I'll be interested to see how Kyle Orton does for the Bears on MNF. That's about the only thing to watch for at this point since this season is lost. I just hope he doesn't get killed behind our O-line.
wow that looked like a catch by ocho cinco. good game but now i'm sad the pats will get a crappier draft pick :(
He dropped the ball. You have to maintain full possession even when you hit down out of bounds. Niners actually won and did not look horrible. Terrible call by Nolan to go for that 4th and 2 at the end and throw to Hill. I don't care if they are 3-10 you still play to win.
The Bungles should be ashamed. Such talent is going to just go to waste.
Well, at least they're consistent. They've had one winning season since 1990.

What's the story with SF using their third-string QB? That's a righteous slap in the face of the Bengals (but, as a cynical Cincinnati fan, they need that sort of disrespect and embarrassment in order to expect any changes).

There first 2 were hurt.

Finally the 49ers show some offense.

No they didn't they played the Bengals. Next week you'll see you have NO offense.

Now pretty off topic but did anyone else receive a big ass cooler on wheels from the NFL Network today? I just opened my door and Fedex had left this huge box. Cooler is like a 20" tall and 20" wide and has a mp3 hook up radio built in and a nice sturdy pull up handle and wheels. With NFL Logo and NFL Network on it..... Now here's the kicker this is the only place I sign up for freebies and I can't find a post about it... Just contains a letter saying this is my signing bonus from the NFL Network. I've had them since they started a few years ago through Insight cable.... LOL thanks for the freebie NFL. :D

Hey guys, what defense should I play this week?

SD vs the Lions but you have to remember that 4 or 5 of their starting defense is going to be out.

Or Idny vs Oakland. Oakland just sucks ass and indy defense is good enough to cause havok against them.

Any suggestions?

Man I cant even watch the Pats game today. CBS is showing fucking Jack and Pit today. BOOOOOOOO! I get to watch the Titans game though which is my other favorite team.

waits for the genric Pat fan hate. Because we all know how cool it is to get your "jabs" in whenever you see a Pats fan. Even though there are only like 4 of us here.....we are all bandwagon fans.

Being a fan of a team no where close to where you live sucks ass.

Anyway, there are some really good football match ups today. Today should be a good day of hard hitting football.

Looks like all NFL Network subscribers should be getting coolers. When I was leaving I saw 2 more of the smae boxes in my building outside peoples doors. I called a friend who has Direct TV and the NFL Network and he got a cooler as well.

I want to see Steelers vs Jags but hell no I get Browns vs Bills. At least the COwboys game is on later!
