NFL 2007 Season Thread
you really think your team is better?? no ol...horrible receivers...but better rb..
There Ol is better this year. There WRs were worse last year. There D is a lot better. Talent wise.....yes the teams is better than last years.
niners should wear paper bags over their helmets
I feel bad for Mike Nolan, mainly for the fact that they just got shutout the day after his father's death :/

I was hoping for a Monday Night like Brett Favre's after he lost his father. I bet Mike Nolan wanted to go out on the field and do something.
Yes!!!!

Ricky Williams Is Back!!!
So....who's gonna pick him up? I reckon the Dolphins could give him a test drive
Yes!!!!

What a serious waste of talent. Reason #3xxish that I hate hippies!
Depth doesn't have anything to do with it. Let's let the Pats bring 17 people on offense to a game and see how they do.
See the 2003 and 2004 Patriots, teams that set records for injuries. See last year's Pats, who were obliterated by injuries and were still 2 and a half minutes away from the Superbowl.

Depth has everything to do with it. The Colts use most of their cap space on their star players, and when you do that, you have to fill out the bottom half of the roster with minimum salary scrubs. Lack of depth is what you're seeing now.

ricky is da man! hope fucking cameron doesnt decide to ship him and give him a chance.....

plus we are starting our rookie qb this week....

exciting times
So....who's gonna pick him up? I reckon the Dolphins could give him a test drive
Maybe the Bears will shelf Cedric Benson for him...

I called it, I said last week in here that I never thought I would be nervous the Browns would give us a run for our money, not win, but at least make a game out of it.

Well they sure did, and unlike Vinateri's 29 yard miss, a 52 yard miss is nothign to be too ashamed about. It was a very exciting game (steelers v. browns) with alot of lead changes. Its actually the first time the steelers have really been tested and came through to show their resolve.

Its amazing how some weeks nothign works and other weeks everythign does. We are second place in the AFC behind the Pats and have friggin losses to The cards and broncos!? WTF...I guess some games they just don't show up to play, whatever the fuck that means.

Freeney officially done for the year.
Freeney suffered the injury on a spin move late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 23-21 loss at San Diego.
The condition is what's known as a Lisfranc injury, which is damage to the middle part of the foot. It's similar to what former Colts receiver Brandon Stokley suffered in December 2002. It took Stokley approximately nine months to full recover.

Pfffttt, like they needed another ding in their roster :/

Looks like the Steelers will be facing off against the Pats if Indy can't recover in time. Steelers have been impressive in comebacks, and Roethlisberger is really taking command. He reminded me of McNair (back in his younger days) when he took off for that rushing TD against the Browns.

On another note, the one thing that kept floating around my brain was the depth of the Colts roster; I always wondered how versatile they would be if they had to face the situation they're in now...

ESPN.com is reporting that the Bears are going to start Grossman this weekend.

Seriously, I'm too lazy to beat this horse YET AGAIN!

Who is their 3rd Stringer?

I'm thinking they want to give the guy another shot after benching him, hoping that it maybe did him some good...

Don't laugh, but according to their depth chart, it looks like Kyle Orton is still picking up a paycheck.

Yesterday, I heard one the of the guys on 670am WSCR, Chicago's big sportstalk station, rattle off the list of unrestricted QBs for next season. You could almost hear him cringing.

Chicago is out of ideas. I'm sure their fans are clinging to rumors that McNabb might be on his way in next year, but they have more problems that just QB.

BTW I dig how we have an all Packers fan page going so far!:applause: AND its page 94, go KGB!

Haha, in that case, let's keep it rolling. KGB is on the case

I'm diggin' the Packers Defense this year. That's the major difference I've seen in them this year compared to the last couple seasons. Atari Bigby and the other "Rookie" DB, I think either #24 or #26 (?) need to stay consistent and then they can really be dominant. They're gonna need it for their upcoming schedule.

I'm really hoping they can open up their running game, and hopefully get Morency rolling with Grant, b/c you can't exactly put all the pressure on one RB, he's gonna need a breather once in a while.

QB is by far their biggest issue on offense though. Their good @ TE & the O-line is passable but could be improved.
WR is their 2nd biggest problem. Moose is past it, Berrian should probably be a slot or maybe a #2 & Hester should only enter for gadgets and obvious passing plays. The rest of their WRs flat out suck.

The strenght of the Packers D this year is in their line. For the Vikings game, I think I read they suited up 8 Dlinemen so they could all rotate out and be fresh longer. Show me another team deep enough to do that! Between that and their crop of WR's (BTW did you guys love the 5 WR set they used sunday as much as I did?) ANY team is going to have problems matching up against the Packers this post season.

As much as I'd love to give the Packers all the props in the world and call them the team to beat, I'll have to hold my tongue.

The last time I did that, they lost to the Bears at home...

Ever since then I've been critical and a bit skeptical of them, but still cheering them on and blowin' up the block, and they've been winning so far :p

As for the 5 WR set, I'm always lovin' it, I just get a little nervous that the O-line might cave on one of those plays and not give Favre enough time to take advantage of it, cuz you know, someone is bound to be open.
That is a very kick ass article! Thanks for the link.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the double HB sets like they used to use back in '96 with Levens and Bennett. That was sweet!
Yea man, that article was a trip and a half. Didn't realize there were so many similarities between Levens and Grant!

If Morency can get his game goin', we will have a very vicious offense for the second half of the season going into post-season
WTF...I guess some games they just don't show up to play, whatever the fuck that means.
That's what really bothers me. Before I call them #2 I gotta see them go on a roll like they did on the run to XL. They looked almost flawless in the postseason that year.

Really though, I just had to break up this Packers post streak.

For all of the QB trouble the Bears have had Green Bay fans your day is coming... What happens when Favre retires? Is Rodgers the answer?

I would actually prefer to see Orton start for Chicago. He's essentually a rookie. He did start several games in 2005 but the offense was dumbed down so much he didn't get to do more than throw a few 5 yard passes and hand the ball off. This season is pretty much lost. We know what we have in Grossman. Why not use the rest of the year to evaluate Orton and see what he can do?

It is funny that the one blemish on the Cheese Doodle's record is a loss to a very beat up Bears team.

Lovie's comments make it seem like Grossman is starting because of the way he performed last week. Is Griese injured? If Griese is fine, then the Bears' shorsightedness amazes me.

I agree. If Greise is healthy he should tell Lovie "Hey, what the hell man! Rex sucked for a season and a half and he kept his job. I have a couple bad games and I'm benched? That's crap!"
the Steelers are for real..that's not a question..the question is can the pats sustain their run... i bet not...
Just like how the Steelers ran against the Cards and the Ravens? That running team?

Well it's official. The 49ers have totally turned on each other.

Nolan threw Smith under a bus.

Smith says 'his shoulder is killing him'.

Jesus, re-building part deux here we come. I was fine with rebuilding, cutting ties with T.O., Garcia, J. Peterson, Eric Johnson, anything to make this team better. Dealing with Donahue and Erickson, now Nolan.

That's it, York call up Bill Cowher, tell him you'll make him mayor of San Francisco. I can't take it anymore.

I can safely say I'm very confident in Aaron Rodgers when the time comes for him to take Favre's place. It's gonna be a huge undertaking to fill Brett's shoes, but I believe he can do it. For all the games I've seen him play, he might not start off spectacular, but he's solid.

The Pat's first round draft pick just keeps looking better and better....
It doesnt appear that Bill Cowher was as crucial to Pittsburgh's success as its players.
Thats what the Cowboys said when they got rid of Jimmy Johnson and hired Barry Switzer. It really takes both to succeed long term.

Its hard to build a good organization these days. If you can get Cowher or Parcells, you do it. I find Cowher to be slightly overrated, but he's very good. And very good gets you one of the best outside of Foxboro.
It doesnt appear that Bill Cowher was as crucial to Pittsburgh's success as its players.
Mike Tomlin inherited a good team. Just like the other CAG poster said about Dallas and Barry Switzer.
 I don't think anyone could Norv it up like Norv Norved up SD.
my theory is that Norv implanted a chip into Rivers so that he'd think that the only open recievers were the back of Tomlinson's head or the opposition. Honestly, Norv is giving me Mike Riley withdrawls ;).

Agreed. I think Rodgers is more than ready. He is the future of the team and its in good hands. He is mobile, accurate, he has good arm strenght and he is a really smart guy and understands all phases of this offense. Obviously, there are things he can't do that Favre can, but thats not really a bad thing.

That's just it. Green Bay fans "believe" he'll be fine but until a QB actually gets on the field as the full time starter you don't know. Most of the action he's had to this point has been in preseason or garbage time.

Roethlisberger is named offensive player of the week! Way to go Big Ben.

With the Jets (1-8), Dolphins (0-9) and Bengals (3-6) it would be very disappointing to go into the Patriots game with anything less than a 10-2 record.

Yep Pittsburgh has had a very easy schedule this year so far and it just keeps getting easier.

Ain't that the truth!

Count me in on the 49ers drafting Erik Ainge from Tennessee, have watched this guy play and seems to be coming into his own. He'd be a 3rd round steal.
