NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread
classic Eli Manning fumbling the ball by himself
Right - just shows you that even Super Bowl winning QBs (one of only 6 in the entire league, you know) can have an off night.
Glad to see big ben go down, should be a nice fine for him as well.
Yeah, that's the thing about it. Worthlessberger was very obviously trash talking for no apparent reason whatsoever. He got knocked on his ass as a result and ended up looking like a complete puss in the deal. The funny thing too is that it takes a couple seconds for the rest of the Steelers team to go defend him, almost like they were thinking "aww fuck, do we really have to go to his defense..."
Though Cleveland did well to stay in the game, it seems like it's time to put Seneca back in as the starting QB if they want a better chance to win. The Colt experiment was a big success, but they need the more experienced QB in there right now. Let him sit and learn some more to become a legitimate starting threat in the off-season.
He played pretty well, but it seems he lacks arm strength. The touchdown to Hillis was incredible. I was cheering from the opposite endzone thinking he was going to be sacked, but he had the poise to finish the play. The Browns will be a good team next year.
Jets let a 23-7 lead disappear but :applause: to Mark Sanchez. Texans took a 27-23 lead with 55 seconds left and Sanchez answered with a TD drive.
:applause:

I was at that game. The defense collapsed in the 4th quarter and a ton of people left after Sanchez threw the INT. I am happy that I stuck around though to see that great come back.

That Texans D is laughable. How do you not defend the sideline in that situation?

I have to disagree with you. He was clearly not having a good start from start to finish but yank him for one bad game? That's how you shatter a young QBs confidence. I feel they should go the exact opposite route because there is nothing riding on this season other than pride at this point (no AFC teams are squeaking into the wildcard at a 9-7 record this year) and we have seen enough of Delhomme and Wallace to know that they are not NFL starters. Let the kid play and chalk up what happens to growing pains and lack of a legitimate receiving corp.

I used to believe Leslie Frazier had the right stuff, but our pass defense still blows, and the run stuffing ain't what it used to be. Reserving judgment.

I don't know how Childress managed to become a bigger locker room poison than Randy Moss could ever be, but he did it.

The Vikings' season is lost in my opinion so I think Frazier's priority should be bringing the team morale and unity back after the mess Childress left behind. Any show of heart I think will at least save his DC job.

Giants getting exposed vs a good team, they always get fat off bad teams. They have one win vs teams with a winning record at this point and even that one is questionable, the Bears are probably the worst 7-3 team, their D keeps them in games.

Eli Manning is averaging 2 turnovers per game, if his team doesn't bail him out, you're looking 3-7 like the Vikings.

Favre has 17 picks, 5 fumbles
Manning has 16 picks, 5 fumbles

Tom Coughlin looks pissed no matter what's happening on the field

Aren't you a Cowboys fan? Besides the Giants they beat Houston and Detroit this year - real tough.

If you think Eli and Favre are having similar seasons you are on crack! 8 of Manning's picks are off of tipped balls so that's not on him. At least one of them (last night) was a garbage time INT. Also, the Giants could have won the game if Pierre-Paul doesn't jump off sides on the 3rd and 5 with 3 minutes left. The offense was horrible but they had the lead late in the 4th quarter.
yeah ok and that fumble isn't on him, it was the ground
That was just stupid football, as if the extra 2 yards he got from divinginstead of sliding (which would have killed the play) made any difference in that situation once he already had the 1st.
yeah ok and that fumble isn't on him, it was the ground
I never said that the fumble wasn't on him - who else would it be on? So on Eli's worst days the Giants have the lead with 3+ minutes to go in a division game on the road? I'll take that every time.

I can't figure out how the NFL decides on fines.

Asante Samuel gets a 40k fine for hitting the Giants receiver. He led with his shoulder but because they were both standing up straight, they did hit helmet to helmet. (plus teh guy was taller).

Richard Seymour punches Big Ben in the face and gets 25k.

I would say a tackle hit that may have been on accident deserves less then just clocking someone.

(and I'm not sayign Samuel should get fined less, I think Seymour maybe should have had more)
It's because of who Seymour punched, everyone figures Big Ben deserves a good punching (which he does).
I can't argue with that one.

I remember someone on ESPN saying the fine for Seymour was predetermined and that 25K was the max he could get fined for his second on the field incident. Besides, it's apple to oranges trying to compare that to helmet to helmet hits.
Will the Bengals get some revenge against the Jets who embarrassed them last year or will the Bengals lay down
Cincinnati will play like crap like always.

Yank him for a bad game? He had a good game but was kind of limping near the end of the game from a hit, so they should sit him and let the healthy guy he replaced start for the rest of the season. There's no reason to risk him getting injured and ruining the good will he has going for him at the moment since they can't afford any more injuries at QB.

Seneca Wallace has proven that he's a reliable, capable starter for this team, but they hadn't gelled by the time he got injured, so this is a better team for him to lead. If they avoid the deep passes in the game plan, he'd do as well, if not better, than Colt McCoy's done easily.

Just turned on the Lions/Patriots game for background filler while I work on my project (also HD... ) and wow, those Lion's pants are swishy at all. lol
What caused Carson Palmer to be so awful?
I blame annoying ass receivers. I think they made him give up on life, especially after he saw their tv shows.
70% of the country gets Eagles/Bears. My stupid city is getting fucking Bucs/Ravens.
I think its a pretty good game, they need to prove if they are good or not.

That is not a bad game

I will be shocked if that is not a closer game than Eagles/Bears.

Carson Palmer just isnt a winner. Bottom line. The team just sucks. Maybe it was the 10 years they lead the league in felony convictions or the fact that 3/4 of their player all have 3 or 4 DUI and assault charges.

If Chad "We make him the scape goat so no one looks under the rug" Ochocinco was that big of a distraction they would have traded him several times over. Instead they signed him to numerous contract extensions.

The guy dances around nothing more nothing less. His he annoying? Maybe (I dont find him to be) but he is a 6 time pro bowler and was a top 5 WR for quite some time. In a sport where everyone has to be the tough guy I find it refreshing to see a top 5 player who doesnt take it so seriously.

I hate when the media targets people who might be annoying but have done nothing morally or legal wrong. Its just a easy story for media to fill time with.

Despite the poor play of the defense on the first drive, bad plays by Evan Moore, and some questionable plays by Delhomme, the Browns are doing very well as Peyton Hillis rushed for his third TD already.

Edit: I don't know who's doing commentary with Chris Rose, but he stinks. He constantly misspeaks, like saying "snot receiver" instead of "slot receiver."

This is the part of the playcalling that I hate about the Browns. Delhomme throws one pick and Cleveland doesn't focus on the run the next time they get the ball back. Now they are going back to the run, but not without giving up the lead.

Torry Holt and his crooked ass finger. I know the Browns never get the A or even B squad announcers for their games, but these guys were horrible today a lot of silence and complete lack of emotion in their voices inspired me to put on Xmas lights during the game.. on the bright side, it wasn't Joe Buck.
Great pick by Joe Haden off of a bad pass by Clausen and he definitely learned from Chansi Stuckey's mistake against the Jets.
I'm REALLY excited about the potential between Haden and Ward in our secondary... our whole D really. Most of these guys are playing their hearts out and I pin 2 or 3 of our losses on the offense for not scoring or staying on the field long enough. I have more faith in Wallace than Delhomme because of his propensity to fumble and throw interceptions. Would be nice to see Colt come back because he seems to understand the importance of protecting the football.

Colt's probably out for a few weeks and they'd be more likely to just sit him unless Seneca doesn't do well at all. I'd expect this to be the last start for Delhomme this year.

Yeah. He does a much better job if he is helping coach the other QB's from the bench. I never knew why they started him instead of Wallace. Delhomme is clearly the weaker of the two.

My God, the Broncos are simply terrible. McDaniels has single-handedly ruined the team.

And now he has brought the cheatin' Pats way here. I am glad most Denver fans are embarrassed by it instead of the Belichick Defense league we saw in '07

Funny how the Patriots were punished so severely for filming defensive signals, which you are allowed to do, just not from the sideline, while the Broncos were guilty of the most severe thing the Patriots were accused of (and found not to have done), taping a walkthrough, and the Broncos got a slap on the wrist.

All the Patriots ever did was have a camera in an incorrect location. Thats the ONLY rule they broke. The Broncos taped something they shouldn't have had any access to at all.
