NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread
They did clinch a playoff berth....but they will also beat Carolina and the Browns though so they should finish off with a pretty good record.
Oh, nice...NFL.com hadn't added the X next to their name when I looked at it earlier.

This has turned into a pretty awesome game between the Packers and Pats. The Packers are a damned good team, and it turns out this Matt Flynn kid can play a bit.

Ouch... hate to see a game end that way (unless you're a NE fan). You'd think at worst case you could run to the line and use the same play.

Fans of televised violence, be sure to tune in to the Vikings/Bears game tomorrow night. Every NFL stadium in cold-weather areas has a heating system in place beneath the field to prevent the field itself from freezing. As you may have guessed, the University Of Minnesota only plays until November - meaning there is no such system installed.

There are serious concerns being voiced by Bears players that they're in fear of suffering injuries simply by being tackled on the frozen field in Minnesota. It's essentially the same to playing the game in the stadium's concrete parking lot. In addition to the ridiculousness on the field, the Vikings and UofM have agreed that no alcohol will be sold at the stadium and no outside food or drink will be allowed in. Gametime temperature is expected in the single digits with a 90% chance of snow.

I think Matt Flynn looked quite good in the pocket, but he has some SERIOUS trouble with pressure. If it wasn't evident enough early on, he was sacked twice in the last minute I think.

And the time management in the last two minutes was TERRIBLE. Flynn's only a rookie, and there should be some blame placed on McCarthy for his great timeout callings, but come on that was just terrible.

Going to be interesting to watch and see if everyone's getting pounded into concrete in that game. It feels like the stadium is built poorly though, with the roof collapsing (its done so multiple times) and no heating system in place.

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe said on Twitter today that he felt the field is like concrete after he walked on it. Its going to be a big messy game and certainly an historic one for the ages.

I'm finally calming down from the Pats (barely) winning that game.

Huh? The lack of heating coils at TCF Bank Stadium has nothing to do with the Metrodome's roof collapsing due to a metric ton of snow being dropped on it.

They moved the game from the Metrodome due to the collapsed roof to the outdoor stadium at the University of Minnesota. The new venue holds 14,000 less fans and every ticket is being treated as general admission - meaning that all of the lower level bleacher seat maniacs and the field box corporate fans will be mixed together in the freezing cold and with no alcohol. If that doesn't sound like a recipe for disaster and stabbings, I don't know what does.

Look at that shit - you can literally fucking sledride the guy next to you down onto the field. I love football as much as the next guy, and I grew up in Cleveland so I'm accustomed to going to games in the cold. There's a huge difference between "reasonably uncomfortable" cold in Cleveland and "you guys ever see the movie Alive" cold in Minnesota. I expect a riot.

 My mistake. In any case, the hardness of the turf is going to be insane. I wouldn't want to play in that stadium, considering players who fall on it will probably be cracking their helmets and breaking their bones.

Probably for the better Old Man Favre isn't playing then.

He might kill himself on that turf. Don't care too much about T. Jackson, but still, I don't think anyone should be playing on that turf. Adding to that, I can imagine how often these guys will be slipping and falling.

For a team that has won Championships and Super Bowls, the Giants have had some of the worse losses in football, particularly at home. Miracle at the Meadowlands, Flipper Anderson, Meltdown against the Vikings, Miracle at the New Meadowlands.

Hahaha, to be fair he looks more like a college kid than a NFL player with his long hair/goatee.
Great video. I cannot stand the Patriots, but I really like him.

As a life long Vikings fan, I'm absolutely terrified for tomorrow. It could be one of the most horrifying things ever shown on National television.
I will never get tired of watching this:

I still laugh every time I watch it.
Damn, look at that big man go; running like he stole a bucket of chicken. Four yards shy of being immortalized as the absolute most damndest thing we've ever seen in football.

T-Jack is out due to being injured with now rookie Joe Webb starting for the Vikes and Patrick Ramsey is now the backup.
I hope the Packers knock the Giants out of the playoff hunt.
You and me both.

As for the Vikes game tomorrow, I have a feeling that they will have the field thoroughly heated and soft. They are not going to risk putting their players in an extremely dangerous situation.
Looks like I'll be watching my Super Bowl XLII DVD tonight to cheer me up.
Let me try to help. Pretend the game ended right here

Fantastic bahahahaha. Guy runs moderately quick, he was running alongside the Packer #25 for a second.:applause:

Vikings will get destroyed if Webb isn't better then Jackson, which I doubt he will be. I think we already know Patrick Ramsey is no good too.

Brett Favre has been upgraded from "out" to "questionable", and will throw a few hours before gametime to see if he can be upgraded further.

This should be good.

Dare he play another frozen ice game? His protection is so garbage this season he might go out in the first drive again, except this time he dies when he hits the floor.

Its not like it matters soooooo much anymore anyway, what with him not even willing to play one down to keep his streak going.

Soooo...they managed to clear out all of the snow from the UofM stadium, only to get another storm come in this morning. Expecting another 6 inches or so today and sub-zero windchill at gametime.

Since I have a 15-point fantasy lead in my round 1 playoff game, my opponent has Peterson and I have the Bears D, I say the more snow the better. :D

I have a friend at work who bets $$ on Fantasy Football. His league was playing their final game yesterday (with a $200 buy in). He thought he was sitting pretty as the 1 o'clock games were ending.

Everyone on both their teams had played and he had a 44 point lead. He left to go to the store. He told me he got home to have seen Michael Vick on his opponents team go from -1 fantasy points to 47 and costing him their $2000 prize.

It helped give me faith in my choice to not take any of the $$$ fantasy football offers I get year after year.

You should have seen my team's epic collapse. I was sitting easy in first thanks to the help of Tom Brady and Arian Foster. Foster typically gets 20+, this time he got 5.

My opponent? He picks up Jacoby Ford, who averages 5. How much did he get? 21.

Everyone on my team underperformed except for the kicker. Half of his team had their best games of the season.

*sigh* Another great year ruined in the first round of the playoffs.
That is crazy Farve is playing
Bears are practically givens to win now. Favre doesn't play well in the cold anymore and its not like he's been playing great this season anyways.

MN scores decisively on first drive... little soon to be calling it the Bears game I think.

 I'm not watching the game, so I wasn't aware it had already started. Nonetheless, I expect Favre to start faultering and for the team to slow down seriously in the 3rd and 4th quarters, as usual.
As much as a Bear's fan as I am, what Cutler said about Farve after the game was douchey as can be!
Yes, yes he is.

Just a few more days that Vick can get rusty.....because I need him to have a SHITTY game!
