NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread
both Smiths are out.... Mallet?
I'm not really high on Mallett. Sure he's got one hell of an arm, but that's negated if he's forced to try to scramble, which will be an eventuality behind the 49er O-Line.

Personally, I'm hoping Prince Amukamara is still off the board. With all the drama at QB, the atrocity at CB seems to go a bit unnoticed. Nate Clements is really no longer viable as a CB and completely not worth his contract.
I'd go for Orton if I was the 49ers. Denver is actually going to try to go with Tebow.
Yeah, he'd go great with Vernon Davis, Micheal Crabtree, and Josh Morgan.

And Ted Ginn if he actually plays his reciever part.

Then Gore and Westbrook in the backfield.

^Forget Westbrook, I'm more in love with Anthony Dixon.

I'm not high on Orton, like I said earlier, I would trade a 2nd rounder for Kolb. That's where I would go.

I'm hoping Baalke and Harbaugh cut Clements, or make him re-structure his contract and move him to Strong Safety, I think he could be very good there, because he has "after the INT" ability to do things.

You saw it in Minnesota last year after the blocked FG and saw it in Atlanta this year (until he decided to fumble 60 yards later and cost them the game)

I still think they over paid for Clements.

Orton I'd take Orton over Klob personally still, but I wouldn't drop a first round for him, Klob is the next best thing. Just need to see what Denver and Philadelphia are going to do.

Dixon still needs to prove himself a bit, backing up two pro bowl backs is kind of tough though.
It's weird to see people that think Orton is a good QB after trashing him when he was traded to Denver from Chicago two years ago.
I don't think Orton's anything to write home about, but at least he's shown he's capable of running an NFL offense, something San Fran's been lacking these past few years.

In a year where injuries killed his running game and any kind of defense to allow him to get a lead, along with losing his big TE and WR to trades, he's done a great job of running that offense and becoming one of the top passers in the league through the first 13 games. I see about nine teams that need a QB in the draft or via free agency (Miami, Tennessee, maybe Oakland, Washington, maybe Detroit, Minnesota, Carolina, San Francisco, and Arizona) and most of them have good receivers that would be a good fit to plug Orton into. Any of those teams could plug him in and could then focus on other areas of weakness in the draft, which would be a huge step up for many teams.

I'd love to see him go to Arizona since their QB situation was infuriating for an offense whose only loss in the off-season was Kurt Warner. Bouncing between Derek Anderson and two undrafted rookies was a huge drop for that franchise.

I know CAG doesn't know about my tried and true TITANS alliance....

But dammit....Bud pissed me off by keeping Fisher.

BOTH needed to go!

So unless we get Orton....we'll be in for yet ANOTHER RB heavy offensive season with an emphasis on...the RB and the blocking TE who can do 15 yard plays.

No secret why Wycheck was so damn good.....he got damn near every reception!!!!

Sometimes I wish we had Al Davis as owner. He spends money. He loves the vertical game. He JUST WANTS TO WIN!!!!

Bud just wants to make his money back. And he made the biggest mistake ever in passing up Nashville's own CUTLER for Houston's own VINCE. Hrm.....if I wanna keep a fan base happy....I think I'll....select a 1st round QB NOT from up the road....

Trading Anquan Boldin didn't help them much either. x:

Even though he did want out of there.

He was barely ever on the field in the games I watched and didn't play at all in the playoffs, so he was as good as gone anyway. He wouldn't have added anything if he was still around, so Kurt Warner was the only major piece that left.

not a saints hater or fan... but reggie bush can't fucking catch the ball. i saw him drop a few last week, and now a few this game.

Everytime I've seen Boldin play he's had great performances.

He is a 2 (3?) time pro bowl WR.

Andersons season has been funny though.

Damn. The Saints' secondary is terrible with so many open receivers that are shredding them for easy points.

I want Seattle to lose because of the neon green in their color scheme, which no decent sports team should ever have on their uniforms. Oregon beats them in terms awful color schemes that make me hate those teams.

i like to give props to the nfl and these sorry ass refs for desperately trying to give and keep the aints back in this game in addition to these moronic commentators that have been on the aints dick since kickoff if there so good why are they trailing getting ref help to come back into the game

Those were all pretty good games, too, even if the NFC West teams went 1-3.

Man, I cam so close to picking Seattle in my Pick 'Em league, but I didn't ever think it'd be like this.

Seattle playing a close game isn't at all surprising since I kind of expected it. Mainly as the Saints were depleted at RB. But winning AND scoring 40 points? Damn.

That was the worst non-Cleveland game for a secondary that I've seen this year.

That was almost an idiotic move by Santonio Holmes to stand in the way of a punted ball that could've gone right back to Indy if he wasn't careful.

Nobody cares.

Three straight passes to Dustin Keller and all three are overthrown with one being picked off. Sanchez needs to throw better passes if they want to stay in this game.

The Saints are out of it
now if only they stop running the "Personality" commercial
wow I'm so sick of that one, they must run it 5 times a game
Hawks and Jets. Who'da thunk it?
Were the Colts supposed to win? IMO the Jets are a good team in a good conference, as opposed to the Colts who are an average team in an average conference.

On paper, the Jets are arguably the better team. However, you can never count out a team that has Peyton Manning on it. Honestly, that game could have gone either way.

Well, I'm happy as a Pats fan. Obviously losing to the Jets is the worst case scenario, but they're also our best possible matchup of all the AFC teams so I feel pretty good.

Sanchez is not a great quarterback and I wish everyone would stop pretending that he is. Same goes for Tony Romo, but then we live in a would where Bret Farve is the greatest ever so I am not holding out hope.
the Jets aren't going very far with Sanchez playing like that
the Jets were bailed out today with that running into the kicker
Thats the jets in a nutshell bailed out by almost everything rather than them actually winning games with a record that is very misleading right up there with the bears oh well guess we await to see who plays new england in the afc champ game

That had nothing to do with the last drive. Also, the Colts made the score 16-14 after that call.

So how did that call bail out the Jets?

The Colts just get out coached in big games. I predicted the result of the game when they threw the challenge flag a fucking minute into the game.

^^ no kidding

not to mention running the ball on that 3rd down to drain more clock instead throwing that moronic pass to kill the clock which btw had illegal contact on one of the defenders covering one of the receiver but of course doesn't get called

I was about to say that but for a different reason. 3rd and 6 at the Jets 32 with 1:02 to go, 1 timeout for the Colts. Run the ball there, either take time off the clock or make the Jets take a timeout, get that FG attempt a few yards closer. Instead they threw the ball.

The field position the Jets got on the following kickoff was critical as well, I think there were two missed tackles.

I'm wondering the same thing. That call had almost no impact on the game - also, it was the right call.
