NFL 2010-2011 Season Discussion Thread

I hope the Ravens loose so I dont have to listen to Ray Lewis bullshit holier than thou speeches.

Give it up fucker you are not Gandhi and this isnt a motivational seminar.

EDIT:
By the way, Kevin Kolb (who I never liked) as got to feel like the ultimate ass. Finally gets his chance to start, gets hurt and Vick turns into a god like being. Back to the bench to you Kolb.

Meh, he'll be just fine getting the Matt Schaub treatment, going to a bad team, not improving them enough to have any real success, but playing just well enough not to get benched.

Great game for Baltimore, as Flacco is picking apart the KC defense and their defense is putting a ton of pressure on Cassel when he has to pass later into the game. They definitely look like the best of the first round teams so far.

Well, that was a waste of time. God I hate you Ray Lewis.

I wouldnt go that far Frisky. The Chiefs clearly were flying by the seat of their pants. They were completely out coached, out played and overall just slap around like a small child. One trick pony was beaten to a crisp. Their WR couldnt get any separation at all and they couldnt adjust and started to panic very early.

Ah well, I normally love defensive teams but Ray Lewis makes me hate the Ravens. Good job Ravens.

You kind of figured the AFC would shake out this way in Round 1. The Steelers/Ravens game will be awesome. Jets don't really seem to have much of a shot on paper, but you never know what could happen.

I don't see why everyone think the pats are guaranteed to win. True the patriots destroyed them a few weeks ago, but the jets did beat them early in the season. What I'm trying to say is: don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I still think the Jets will get to the AFC championship, even though I dislike Rex Ryan.

Ravens and Steelers will be one of the best games this season I'm betting, it'll be a defensive game, and Baltimore just showed it off today.

Now lets see this rematch! I'm putting it on the Eagles right now, but we'll see if the PAckers blitz can shut down Vick.

I think the Jets are going to get killed next week. Definitely not like a few weeks ago, but Bill has extra time to plan and my guess is he was planning on facing the Jets.

Lets go Eagles!

By the way I havent mentioned my Titans in a while because frankly we were not worth talking about. As much as I liked Young he is a nutcase and I am glad he is gone. Hopefully we can get a guy equipped with a laser for a arm to take those extra guys out of the box and make room for All Day CJ. Also wouldnt hurt to get some WR that dont suck. (And maybe a defense thats better)

The Patriots thoroughly dismantled the Jets just a few weeks ago. These are the same two teams, nothing has changed but the calendar. Anything can happen obviously, but the Jets have no real advantage in this game, the Patriots have essentially been a wrecking ball for two straight months while the Jets backed into the playoffs. Add to that the fact that the Patriots are coming off a bye (when they're nearly unbeatable) and the game might be played in snow (which they've never lost in during the Belichick era) and it's going to be very very tough sledding for the Jets - perhaps literally.

Bottom line, while it's certainly possible that the Jets will win the game, there's no logical reason to believe they're likely to.

Coming off a bye might not help, but I don't doubt either teams, whoever wins will deserve it.

And rough sack on the first play, called it. :p
Coming off a bye might not help
Go look up the Patriots' record after a bye (regular season and playoffs) under Belichick. I'll wait.

Sure the Jets could win anyway, but saying that an extra week of rest and prep might not help the Patriots is just incorrect.
Looks like the falcons get a free trip to their champ game
Why do people keep saying shit like this. There are no locks in sports, plus the packers lost on a last second field goal at Atlanta, and now the packers are playing better both offensively and defensively.

That was a pretty good game. Not as good as the Seahawks game though.

I also went undefeated in my picks this weekend so I'm pleased as punch.
People seriously picked Vick for MVP? People seriously discussed him in the same sentence as Tom Brady?
you make it sound like he played horrible but he didn't
Akers missed 2 field goals that go in 95% of the time, the Eagles receivers dropped some passes, and Celek stepped out of bounds on what would of been a 2pt conversion
Brady only put up 24 points against a Matt Flyn led packer team

missed opportunities the name of the game

Vick wasn't great... You don't have to attempt a field goal if you get into the endzone. Last play of that game was brutal as well, instead of spiking the ball and having 3 shots at the endzone, he threw it up for grabs. Pretty poor throw, too.

If Vick puts up that 24 he wins that game. He wasn't the reason why they lost, but that was far from the "unstoppable" Vick thats been hyped up lately.

Sucks that Philly lost but they only have themselves to blame. Vick really screwed up on that last drive and Akers was pathetic.

Wild card weekend has me hyped up for next week though especially since the Bears finally play. 3 out of 4 games were awesome for the wild card, hopefully the divisional round can keep up the entertainment.
I hate you. I wore my #52 Ray Lewis jersey on Friday to work.
I know they're supposed to be my natural enemy, but I always love to see a Steelers/Ravens game.
It's always a good game.
You kind of figured the AFC would shake out this way in Round 1. The Steelers/Ravens game will be awesome. Jets don't really seem to have much of a shot on paper, but you never know what could happen.
The AFC is so awesome right now, cannot wait for next week. Steelers and Ravens fans hate each others guts, while you can say the same thing for the Jets vs. Patriots. Rivals going at it, so it should be a very fun weekend. The Steelers only won the division for holding the tie breaker against the Ravens (both had the same record). Should be a fun fight.

I pretty much think the Patriots will win, but you never know. One reason why I'd like the Jets to win is only for the Ravens to get a home game in the 3rd round (if they beat the Steelers). M&T Bank Stadium would go nuts.

Go Black and Purple. Going to pick up more Ravens stuff this week, although many stores have been stripped clean.

Congratulations in advance to the winner of the Falcons/Packers game. You get to lose to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. I say this as a Patriot hater.

As a fan of the NFL, though, the AFC has 2 outstanding looking games this weekend, and Falcons/Packers has potential to be the best game played this season. Seahawks/Bears OUGHT to be a wash, but then, everyone thought Seahawks/Saints would be, too, and that was actually pretty damn exciting.

I can't believe how this is shaking out - I thought the ONLY team the Bears had a shot at beating was the Seahawks and now that they are actually playing I think it could be a great game - especially if Evil Jay Cutler shows up. Everyone should pray for a Seahawks/Packers NFC Championship Game - the 9-9 Seahawks would host!

I also love that the Packers won (really the only game I cared about) - I don't want to live in a world where the Eagles win a Super Bowl.

They Seahawks did beat the Bears this season, be it by a field goal, a win is a win. Should be a good match up.

And how about the Packer D. There win was dependent on them showing up, which they did in force.

The Seahawks won't have a winning record unless they get INTO the Superbowl... how funny would it be to have world champs with a 1 game over .500 record?
I don't follow NFL that much, but I was thrilled when the Seahawks won. What chances do they have to go to the Super Bowl?
Not good, they're far and away the worst team left. Then again, they were the worst team last week too, anything's possible.

The NFC is pretty weak, so they have a chance. Chicago is all over the map on whether they show up to play or not.

If Seattle wins that one, they get either Atlanta (which would be tough) or Green Bay which would be more doable since that game would be in Seattle.

Anyway, I have a hard time getting excited as I'd be shocked if anyone beside the Patriots, Steelers or Ravens win the championship and I hate all those teams.

I think the better games this weekend will be the AFC games, but I think the NFC games are going to be tougher to pick.

Bears 27-16
Packers 27-24

Patriots 34-23
Steelers 23-20

I still have a feeling it will be Jets and Falcons.

I think Seattle can edge out Chicago, I'm expecting a close game though, unless the Bears D utterly shuts down Hassleback.

With Kolb scheduled to make 1.4 million next year it's not like they will have to get rid of him (like if he were to have a big contract). I can see the Eagles demanding some high picks to trade for him and if not they will be happy to have him as a backup for another year.
I dont know if someone has said this yet but Kevin Kolb says he wants a trade if Eagles brings back Vick.
There are plenty of teams that would take corn on the Kolb... but it makes me wonder what Philly would do should Vick get hurt again..

I don't know if it was necessarily a huge lead (although in a defensive game like that was, you could argue that it was), but you held it nicely for the longest time and freaking Polamolu killed you.

As a Browns fan, I hate both of these teams, but at least one of them was once the Browns. Go Ravens. If they play like that Ravens team last week, they win by 2 touchdowns. If they play like anything other than that, they get beat.

Good to hear. :) C'mon 49ers!

I don't think they will, if he demands a trade, we can have another anquan Boldin on our hands, though I wouldn't say as talented in his position as Boldin is, he might get taken for a 3rd or 4th round pick.

I would honestly go with Kolb at this point. He has shown that he can be a good QB and he is going to be a MUCH cheaper option than Vick. Also, the last few weeks Vick kind of ran out of gas. He takes way too many hits and I think he is too much of a huge risk/huge reward player which can only take you so far. Those types of guys can usually get you into the playoffs but at some point a team shuts him down.

I might be crazy, but I'm kinda leaning towards picking the Seahawks against the Bears right now. Also, there's no way the Ravens/Steelers game gets over 40 points total.

It's not crazy if you are picking them to cover. I do not think they will win though.
