I've been reading on EA's NHL 09 PS3 forum a lot today in anticipation of the patch (next day or so I'm hoping). I'd say 75% of the people like it and only 25% hate it. Yeah, I've seen comments of "I hit guys a 'fraction of a second' after they get rid of the puck and get called for a penalty", but I really question their estimation of a "fraction of a second".

I've read other comments from people saying they can time their hits just fine. Even if it makes the game less physical, I still think it's going to be a better game. I think guys like moojuice are going to be phenomenal after the patch. He already only gets like 3 hits a game, haha. Some guys are going to have to adjust (not naming any names...*cough* Vulcan *cough* ;)), but I think the pros far outweigh the cons.

The glitch/cheese teams are not going to know what to do with themselves. Many of them will probably just say that the game sucks now and will trade it in. I say good riddance. It will be nice to be able to skate in front of the net without the puck without getting hammered over and over again. I really only started hitting guys heavily after they pissed me off by hitting me, or because of their cheating ways.

The best defense you can play in this game is anticipating passes/clogging the passing lanes, timing your poke checks, only checking when you have a reason, etc. The patch won't affect any of that. I look forward to the patch because I really think it will instantly make me a better player. I can't even have fun winning with randoms anymore because I've had guys on my own team play like assholes, and it's embarrassing to be a part of it. The patch should clean that up.
 
Tootsieroll is new and hasn't played any games yet. I am most available on weekends (Friday-Sunday). Through the week, I am guaranteed to be out of the house at the following hours due to school, commuting to and from school, and going to the gym, and thus NOT available. All times Pacific:

Okay, I did not know that so many people were active. Since I just posted it in the NHL league thread, I may as well post this here, also:

Gentlemen we are closing in on a milestone. 200 losses are just around the corner.

I know the CAG Grifball team got a shout-out for thier achievement. Cheapy should give us some love too...esp. since he took part in a couple of those losses... ;)

I don't think we need 12 players in the league to move to the playoffs.. I'm in another league set up for 32 teams, and the GM closed the number of people after 18 teams signed up... My brother's situation wouldn't be resolved until Friday even if it does work then, and then he leaves for a week for vacation.

So, I'll just tell him he is out until the next league and we can push on... my guess is once everyone plays all their games, even with only 11 teams signed in, it will advance the playoffs.

let me know a good time as well matt. Im on from 8-10ish est and on the weekends. Im on call this weekend though so it may be hard to get a game in.

And I'd like to thank you guys for two good games last night. We took a split, but that first game we had a great comeback and held on for a 6-5 win. Can't believe I hit the post on the open net breakaway, but my 5 assists will attest to my PASSING to people.

Yeah, after you left, the guys won once more. And after that, cravin_taco_bell and I played a game and pulled out a 2-1 win against 4 human opponents (why do we always get games like that?) Fortunately, the other team wasn't glitching at all. And honestly, they weren't very good.

The AI scored within like the first two minutes of the game for us. The other team tied it up early in the 2nd. And then I got the game winner with like 2 seconds left in the 2nd period. We just played solid defense the rest of the game and got one of the easier wins I've seen in a while. That gives the CAG team 3 wins in our last 4 games. I'd say we're ready for the patch! :)

Hell yeah man, we were playing real well together last night. As for that second game, those guys were just way too strong, beat us up pretty good.
 
no offense to anyone else, but I love Marino in goal when we really wanna take it to teams... The defensive play has been good too, luckily we have no pinchers

I haven't done too well the last couple games but I am trying to work on the goalie skills. I checked my stats with the CAG team and I'm 1-4 with a 2.43 GAA. Not too shabby average wise, but I need to work on closing out the game (FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! ;) ). Vulcan did good last night, and really most of the goals he let up were cheap (i.e. the puck on your leg rickiling into the net). We've got a couple good goalies here, and I'm sure we have better then most of the teams out thee. Now if they would just stop the cross cease passes... :)


We had some vey good games last night. And what was great was the fact that we weren't playing the usual rock 'em sock 'em hockey we are used to (not that there is anything wong with that... ;) ) and we planned out our attacks. Really good night, and I am defentily looking forward to Patch Day. Although right now I'm listing myself as questionable for Friday night. I'll try to make it though.
 
Unfortunatly I won't be around Friday night...unless you guys are up past 2 AM and want to deal with another drunk Watterworth...

I had a nice game against a 99 $$$. score was only 14 to 1. Good times. I just pulled the goalie and started whooping his ass.
He would skate in go to the side of the goal use vison control shoot it low sideo goal everytime.

Dang Guys, Three wins in a row. I'm really flabbergasted. I wonder if it's cause I'm actually playing like a normal hockey player lol. Can't wait for the patch. Should be any day now.

On that note, great games last night guys! I think we're starting to peak (or crown maybe? ewwwww). It's ironic that the only thing that could stop our 6 game winning streak was a couple of glitchers. It looks like we won't have the patch for tonight (I'm hearing probably Tuesday now...when EA does their usual server maintenance), but I guess we can do basically what we did last night: try club play until we get fed up with the cheaters, and then just play each other. That seemed to work well enough.

In regards to the patch though, like I mentioned last night, what does everybody think of starting with a fresh team when it finally does get released? (Cravin, this was my "idea" from our discussion a while back, in case you're wondering) I know our record is really unimportant, but part of me feels like having to endure all this rampant cheating has at least earned us a fair shot at seeing where we stand against the rest of the (non-cheating) world

I'd rather EA just reset everybody's record, but based on the PS3 patch, I don't think that's happening. And "starting over" with 275 losses in division 245 just doesn't feel like a fair measurement. The byproduct of doing this would be having to re-earn all our club trophies. I'd say it would also make us look like a "noob team", but it's not like opponents can see our record anyway. I guess mainly it would be to just show us how good we actually are.

I initially thought of all this in the 6-8 week span that PureApathy didn't touch the game, and I figured he was done. I don't know what he'd think of it since he started this whole thing, but if a new team is made, I'd also like to revise the GMs a little bit. I'd still like to have a total of 5 GMs, and I would nominate the guys who have been most active on the team over the past few months: Myself, Alan, Sean, Matt and Koo...j/k and Gary ;)

Anyway, that's my "big idea", haha. Let me know what you guys think. Obviously, we can leave things as they are and just keep playing, but I'm curious to see how good we actually are on a level playing field. See you guys tonight at 8 PM EST!
 
I was thinking that would be a good idea, myself. Great minds think alike, I suppose. ;)

EDIT: I meant the record resetting idea.

Haha, I thank you my good man! :) Like I was telling the guys last night, it would give us a chance to clean up the roster too, with some of the guys who played like 1 game, if at all. And it would serve as our official rebirth as The Crotch Sharks! Considering the tear we've been on (before we ran into the glitchers last night, our "recent games" section showed us winning 7 of our last 10), I think we elevated our game when we discovered that magical logo over the crotchal region. It's like it was meant to be. ;)

Well, I think it's safe to say that the water 99 glitched...:D

Great games last night. Other then the games against the glitchers, we really looked impressive. I'm really looking forward to playing legit teams and moving up the ladder.

I'm for the team change as well. That record is pretty much the result of those f'n glitchers. I also agree with the change in GMs with the five who have ben here te longest...and if they want to offer me a lucrative contract extension then I'm totally on board!

Haven't heard from my buddy if we are going out tonight so I'm still listed as questionable tonight.

I hate Christmas.

if we have enough guys tonight I'd be down with playing each other from the start... let's say if we have at least 8?

I'll be there tonight from the start until at least 10 PM I think and maybe later on
 
I edited my post since I just meant that I thought the new team creation/record resetting would be a good idea. As for the GM thing, I think Pure Apathy should still have a say in it all.

Well, yeah, if he intends on still being active, I don't have a problem with keeping him as a GM. My main point was rewarding the guys who have basically kept this club going for a long period of time. And like I said, I was surprised to see Apathy play again last week. I really figured he was done with the game, and therefore, wouldn't really care.
 
Hey Guys, congrats on the recent run, well done. If we get lots of guys on tonight, I had a thought that two of the players could break off, and play their league games that were remaining, then come back into OTP when they finish. Thoughts?
