NHL 09 CAG Team - CAG Game Night - Fridays @ 10 PM EST

Good to see you're not actually becoming a lurker like you said, Nate. :p

There will always be some way to score cheap ass goals (pun intended). And you will always have people who don't play their position correctly. But playing with CAGs should keep the latter to a minimum, anyway.

For example, my player is an offensive oriented center, and I'm above average at that position, but I do not mind- and I even enjoy- playing defense. I'll hold back at the blue line when we're on offense, set up the pass when necessary, and shoot a one timer if the opportunity arises. But other than that, I'll enjoy hitting the shit out of people and stealing the puck away when the other team thinks they have a good breakaway opportunity.

As for a night to play, any suggestions? All nights are pretty much equal for me. I may be on; I may not be. I can only pretty much guarantee availability later on in the evening when some of you might be in bed. But if people can agree on a day/time, I'll try to be there. I hope this team continues to be active.
Good to see you're not actually becoming a lurker like you said, Nate. :p
I shouldn't have said lurker. I think "lurker" has a negative connotation. I guess I meant more like a ghost. Be around when I feel like it, and if people give me shit, I'll disappear. Only the people I want to see me, can see me. Like children and dogs, haha. It's a much more fulfilling existence :D

As for an actual night for CAG Hockey Night, my suggestion before was Thursday nights at 10/11 pm eastern. Trying to find an agreeable time for both east and west coast CAGs is tough, but to me that's kinda in between late and early. I'd just like to hear other people's suggestions, so we can kinda gauge interest.

Thursdays, I am available before 9 Eastern and after midnight Eastern.

I'm on Pacific time and I go to the gym 4 days a week, 2 of those time being on weeknights. Mondays and Thursdays, if I am home, I have TV shows that I don't like to miss. I'm weird about watching things live. I do tape stuff, but only if I go out. I really need a DVR, I guess.

But I can play up through 9 Eastern most days, most of that time being afternoon in my time zone, and then I'm almost always available late at night except on Fridays and Saturdays (but sometimes even those days). Not trying to make this about me event hough the amount of "I"'s in this post make it seem that way. I'm just hoping that even if I can't make the regularly scheduled night and time that everyone decides on, that there will still be people available to play late with me.

After seeing this thread I threw in NHL09 last night and played a game with some randoms and remembered how much fun it is. I would be down to play some CAG games on a regular schedule. I'm usually on after 10pm EST on Weekdays and weekends.

Well, so far from the responses we're getting, I'm kinda thinking like a 10pm - 2am eastern timeframe on Thursday nights. I just like Thursdays for hockey...I don't know why, but we could also push it back to a Friday/Saturday if that works better for anybody.

I doubt anyone would want to play for 4 hours, so we can shrink it to 11 - 1 if need be, I'm just trying to structure it around a block of time when people can be on. I can commit to that timeframe and vow to be online to kick it off on 11/20, if you guys are down. Yea or nay?

I can play Sunday through Friday. Anytime at night. I love play offensive D. I usually stay at the blue line when we are in the other teams zone. But yes, I love playing D. Send me an Invite, Maybe we can get a game going tonight!

I'll be online tonight, just shoot me a message when we are ready to start or post a final start time (I've seen 10pm, 11pm, and midnight EST mentioned) and I'll throw in NHL.

Well, I'll be "kicking off" CAG Hockey Night at 10 pm est tonight. It would be nice if whoever's available would get on then so I'm not just playing with myself (if that was entertaining enough, I wouldn't need an Xbox *ba dum chhh!*).

But yeah, Matt Young is on the west coast, and he said he can't be on until midnight est, so that's why I left a 10 pm - 2 am est window for gameplay. I probably won't be able to use my mic much after midnight (wife will be sleeping), but I intend to play until 2 am est.

I'll pop on now to see if anybody is up for games. I've been wanting to play with CAG for a while now.

Well, the first week of CAG Hockey Night was a success! We played for over 4 hours and had some 4 man games going, and even managed to win a couple! Thanks to everybody who showed up! I think this is definitely the way to go if anyone has any desire to actually play games on the CAG team, as opposed to just filling a roster spot.

I know some people might not be able to play on Thursdays, but having an "official" night just gives people something to shoot for. I had a fun time playing with you guys, and can't wait to do it again next week. Hopefully more people will join us too!

Yeah, that was great. I played in 6 games, and I know you guys had games going on before that. It just sucks that Call of Duty night is the same night. I guess I'll probably end up switching between the 2 depending on how active each game may be.

To everyone on the team, though, I'm most often on late at night, so if you have the urge to play, message me on here or my Gamertag. Even if I appear offline, I may be on. And that goes for any night. Pretty much any night after 10 Pacific time works. Also, afternoons up till 6 Pacific/9 Eastern. Due to certain circumstances, I have a lot of time to play. But hell, I'm not complaining.

Thanks, Nate, for getting things organized. I'm glad we got such a good response. No matter who else does or doesn't turn up, we'll always have enough for a 2 person game, anyway, heh.

Sorry I left so abrubtly. I was in the need of going to the bathroom and getting some food lol.

But yes, It was a great night really. I think this is perfect. Maybe we can sorta update the Roster, cause I think out all of us, 5 played. I told ya I'm not that bad at Defense, But then I Really have my shitty times for some reason. And how come when we can't talk to other other and we have our Black away uniform on we seem to win? lol

The White uniforms have been cursed since the day we picked them. Always go with the Black ones if you want to win!

That's cool man. I figured somebody knew why you had to leave, haha. I do kinda wish the OP would be updated distinguishing the more active players (starters) from the "that sounds cool" group (benchwarmers). I guess it depends how much interest this stirs back up in Pure Apathy. I'd be all up for maintaining it, but alas, I am powerless, haha.

As for a first night though, I don't think it went badly at all. Really, unless we had an outstanding human goalie, we wouldn't want more than 5 at a time. It would be cool to have a couple teams going at once though, and maybe swap teammates after awhile, to mix it up a little more.

I know some people have conflicts with CAG Hockey Night being on Thursday though. I'm open to moving the day to like a Saturday or something as long as that doesn't screw it up for the 5 who were committed enough to show up last night. See, I don't play CoD, so I really had no idea that Thursday was game night for that game. Whatever you guys think would work best is fine with me. Opinions?

I only have a few problems with Saturday some times, I like to party. Sunday night or Friday night. Im pretty sure we could get a game night flowing none the less though. :D

We don't have black jerseys. We have dark green.

Like I said, I can do late nights most nights. Lately, I have lots of free time anyway, and insomnia on top of that which makes me too tired to go out half the time so I stay home and read, watch TV/movies, or play games after getting back from the gym. I can play this afternoon as well, in a couple hours after the replay of last night's Kings game that I missed when it originally aired.

Dang, it kicked me with 2 minutes left in the 3rd on our second game!
I can't stay up very late at all on Tuesday, but I'm always up for a game.

You know Matt, I will be on. I don't work and I'm pretty much the House wife :(

So I'm good to go if you wanna play.

Dumb question BUT, how Do i keep upping my Skill points so i can keep allocating them? I need more points for Checking :D

You have to unlock each pro card like in Be A Pro. You get skill points after certain amounts of games played. You'd have to check your Online BAP player card for the exact number.

They are Green/Black. Either way they are dark and the good ones to wear.

Yeah, they're more intimidating and fierce, haha...as we discussed last night. I still wish we could upload logos though. I'm still totally gay for that logo I made a few months back, lol.

Anyone know how to get the position player achievement? I thought you had to win an OTP game as the goalie, but I did and didn't get it.

Now it seems you have to play a regular VS ranked game online, but you have to be the goalie the whole time? I don't even know how to do that... any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you have to play a regular ranked vs game to unlock this. You can actually go to the Leaderboards screen and invite a friend to a 1v1 ranked session to make it easier. To lock yourself as the goalie, before the game loads, when it lets you edit your lines. Hit LT to go to the goalie screen. Highlight your starting Goalie and hit 'X'. It will show the letter "G" underneath your controller icon to indicate you are locked to play as the goalie. Just go ahead and make one save and then run out the clock. Achievement should unlock that way.

Make sure you are the only profile signed in and that your controller is linked to the first spot on the xbox. I had my rock band stuff plugged in when I got this last night and it seemed to be stopping the achievement from unlocking.

If you need a hand with it just let me know and I'd be happy to help.

On a side note, has anyone else had problems with the Be a Pro achievements for all positions? Can you unlock these after 1 game or ? I ask because I am about 10 games into a season and I have an overall 'A' rating when I check my progression but no achievement is unlocking. These achievements seem really glitchy.

Hey guys! As I've mentioned to a few of you, I'm thinking of moving CAG Hockey Night to Friday this week (since Thursday is Thanksgiving). It would also serve as a test run to see if Friday works out for more people since it won't conflict with Call of Duty Night, and other commitments people may have. If it goes well, we could keep it on Friday from now on. Let me know what you guys think...and if you'll be available for:

CAG Hockey Night #2 - 11/28/08 - 10 PM EST - 2 AM EST

Looking forward to it!

I'm not available till later on most Friday nights, if at all. This Friday, I'm going to a hockey game, so no video game hockey until 2 A.M. at the earliest.

Make sure your Offline overall rating is an "A" as well.

According to my friend Adam who has the season tickets for Ontario, the Friday game has been rescheduled. Between that and the fact that I'm trying to maintain my prescription sleeping pill-induced pattern of getting to sleep by 1 A.M. Pacific(much earlier than my usual) and waking up by 9, I'll be staying home on Friday and can play.

is the hockey night for the CAG teams? I'm no longer on the team but I'd set up games with my teams VS yours or I could even jump ship over to CAG for hockey nights

Yeah man, it's for the actual CAG team. Last week was really fun. Going up against Call of Duty Night, we still had 5 guys show up over the course of 4 hours (mostly had 4 man games going).

However you want to do it is cool. Playing against each other over and over again might get a little stale though, haha. But we could play a couple against your guys. But you'd have to talk to one of the captains (Pure Apathy, Matt Young, etc.) about rejoining the team for the day. I'm powerless there.

I should be able to make this. I keep meaning to get back online with everyone but haven't been able to make it yet.

Destro, I don't mind if you come back just for one night a week. The team's creator, Pure Apathy, never plays anymore and FrankySox barely does, so I doubt either of them would care.

However, it seems that my friend made an error and it was Saturday's game that was rescheduled. I'm not sure yet if we're going on Friday. It's 50/50 at this point.

Just posting a reminder for CAGs that CAG Hockey Night #2 starts in about 2 hours. I'll be on at 10 pm est to kick off the scheduled 4 hour gameplay window. Hope to see some of you guys on the ice tonight!

I'm leaving for the Reign game here in a minute, so no video game hockey for me tonight unless you're on when I get home. Game starts at 7 Pacific.

I was online last night and our teams could have played once or twice but I don't see an option to select which team you play. maybe in the game modes option?
I was online last night and our teams could have played once or twice but I don't see an option to select which team you play. maybe in the game modes option?
Hmm...I have no idea about that. I don't know if there is a way to go from the dressing room to a set up game. That's a good question.

In regards to CAG Hockey Night #2, though, we had another good night. I think we had 5 guys show up over the course of the 4+ hours that we played. Only two of those guys played last week (myself and GLOCKGLOCK).

Other CAGS who showed up were: AK85/AK85, SeanAmI/S3anAmI, and cubs2321/DarkTower80

I'm hoping that the guys from last week who couldn't make it this week was more because of the holiday than playing on a Friday night. For now, I'm thinking of keeping CAG Hockey Night on Friday, UNLESS enough people speak out against it. Also, here's a running list of CAGs who have played over the past two weeks, just to give us an idea of who's still active on this team:

CAG Hockey Team Active Roster
# 2 Vulcan2422 (Vulcan7905) - Right Defenseman
#11 n8rockerasu (n8rocker82) - Center
#14 SeanAmI (S3anAmI) - Right Defenseman
#18 cubs2321 (DarkTower80) - Right Defenseman
#19 AK85 (AK85) - Right Wing
#27 GLOCKGLOCK (DRUNKZ 27) - Left Defenseman
#33 Gillums (Gillums) - Center
#37 Matt Young (X Matt Young X) - Center
#?? Azumangaman (Azumangaman) - ??

If I missed anybody from last week, just let me know. I should have done this when it was more fresh on my mind. I'd love to see all these guys and more come out for:

CAG Hockey Night #3: 12/5/08 - 10 PM EST to 2 AM EST

Friday availability for me will change on a week to week basis. Sometimes I feel like going out; sometimes I don't. Then there are the hockey games. Next Friday, there's another Reign game. After that, no more in December. However, there are 2 Friday night Kings games. January and February feature 3 Friday night Reign games in each month, so I won't be back till late.

So I guess in the end that all means that I will be able to play, but not till just as late as I was able to on Thursday. It doesn't really make a difference. But we can always get a few games in on any given day of the week.

Nate, looks like it's you and me running the show for now since Pure Apathy seems to have no desire to play this game. You've been setting things up, and I've been handling invites. As long as Apathy doesn't mind (even if he's not playing, he created the team), and if you want to, I'd like to make you a GM so you can have power to invite and remove people as well. I'll ask him about that.
