NHL 09 CAG Team - CAG Game Night - Fridays @ 10 PM EST

Yeah, that's why trying out goalie for the first time AFTER I already had my superstar card was awesome, haha. I already had a shit ton of points to add to my stats.

And Matt, I guess you'll just have to catch some of us randomly throughout the week, or jump on as soon as you get home on Fridays.
I know. I was hoping for some kinda reward
Here you go, slickkill :)
Yeah, wired is better than wireless...

Ok, wiseass comments aside, uh, try changing the channel your router operates on. Maybe you'll get a smoother connection, less interference, etc. Use www.speedtest.net to make sure you're running at optimum speed. Unplug your modem/router and give yourself a fresh connection. And last but not least, call your ISP and bitch about wasting money on a service that doesn't even work properly. If none of that works, learn to love your ethernet cable. ;)
Haha I know that wired is better than wireless but NHL 09 is the ONLY game I get really bad lag with. Every time I get in the slot with the puck, it skips. Every time I try to poke check or check a guy when everyone is on the screen in the slot or behind the net, it skips. When I'm on a breakaway, it skips. It's just awful. I just wanted to see if anyone else had these kinds of problems or if it was just me.

Hmm...the only game that gives me those kind of problems is MLB 08: The Show on PS3, but that's because the Sportsconnect servers are complete crap. NHL 09 only lags for me when a lot of people are playing. Sometimes things can get overloaded. And don't undestimate the affect of playing with people from other countries..or people who just have crappy connections in general. They could be bringing you down.

Try playing at different times of the day with different numbers of people. Most of the time I despise 6 on 6 games for this very reason. Groups of 3-4 per team tend to work best. Might not help at all, but it's at least something to try. Good luck man.

This game is very weird lag wise. I can have a three bar connection, but my games can range from smooth to having a very noticeable delay from when I push a button to my player actually doing what I inputted,

Thanks for the input! It's weird because not only will I feel the lag, but my buddy will also get it as well. He's wired and thinks it's definitely my wireless, as do I. When I wire in, I'm good to go, but wireless has been nothing but trouble for me with this game.

I've tried just about every situation, from one on 1v1 to huge 6v6 team play games and it's all the same lag, never better just worse and worse lol.

I know what you mean about MLB 08 as well. I get the same thing with Sportsnet, which is why I stopped playing online.

I don't usually get the symptoms you do, BUT I do get about 1-2 second delays and skips. I know what you're talking about though.

I never have any lag at all with this game, or any XBox games for that matter...

MLB the Show on the other hand, as N8 can attest too... yikes.
Lag + playing goalie = win
Haha, is that sarcasm I detect? ;)
MLB the Show on the other hand, as N8 can attest too... yikes.
Haha, no doubt man. The server issues are, and have been, the only thing wrong with the MLB series for the past 3-4 years. As much as I appreciate the dedicated webpages for online leagues, and all the customizable member info, I really just want to see the ball before I swing at it, lol. You'd think that wouldn't be too much to ask. I'm praying they'll get it right for 09
What? You don't like it when your in goal and the offensive players skip 20 feet ahead and they are right on top of you?
Oh don't get me wrong, I am lag connoisseur, but I just don't like the taste of NHL 09's lag.

OH HELL YEAH! I thought I'd only be going to 1 Kings game this year, but it turns out I will get to see 5 more! My friend called just now saying he got 4 tickets each to 5 games, for a total of $286. I only have to miss 1 Reign game, too. The Kings games are as follows:

Monday, January 12: Tampa Bay Lightning
Saturday, February 14th: Edmonton Oilers
Saturday, February 21st: Phoenix Coyotes
Monday, March 9th: Vancouver Canucks
Saturday, April 11th: San Jose Sharks

I'm fucking stoked.

That's awesome Matt. I'm sure you've seen this, but maybe the imagery can make your night even better, haha :)

Hey guys, if you got spots open, send me an invite to rejoin the team. I haven't been playing Club games much but would love to get back in it, especially since you guys have set times to play now.

And Matt Young, you feel the earthquake a little while ago?

Yeah, I felt the quake. It wasn't any worse than the other recent ones. Maybe a little stronger due to the center being in San Bernardino, but the duration was only 6-7 seconds rather than 10-15. No big deal.

I'll probably play a dynasty game after this Kings game ends, and before I turn on Fallout 3. I'll send you an invite then.

In an effort to pump up the team for tonight, here's a little story. I played 3 games last night, back on the forward line, and scored 4 goals. Ever since changing my skater's name, team's have grown fearful of what I can do to them. I now truly know what it is like to be John Stamos.

CAG Hockey Night #7 - TONIGHT! 10 PM EST - 2 AM EST

TGIF BITCHES!!! :)
I should be around for tonight, but I don't think I've gotten an invite yet to the team.
Really? I thought one of the other guys had gotten you already. I'll hop on and add you now.

EDIT - All right, you have now been invited. Hope to see you on the ice tonight :)

You played for the Ducks. Traitor. :p

I probably won't be on, but there's a chance I'll be back in time to join at the tail end of the evening.

Ah thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. It'll be my first time playing online, but I've got a pretty good handle of the offline dynasty/be a pro modes, so it shouldn't be too much to figure out.

Haha, so sorry to offend. I watched a couple of the movies lately and felt nostalgic. John Stamos was quacking like a motherfucker, hahaha (now there's an odd sentence). I wish they had the old jerseys in this game though. The new ones suck.

Well, the main difference is that online opponents cheese and glitch like it's the only way to score. Solid defense (even from the forwards) is a MUST.
I couldn't invite him because he hadn't created an online character yet and it kept not letting me.
Ah, I gotcha. I knew someone had mentioned it, just didn't feel like looking it up, haha. I see Wpark has a standing invite from Matt as well. We could have a lot of guys on tonight. Here's hoping for a good night!

Welcome to the greatest team on the face of the earth.

You're in for a rough time, but we'll be there supporting you, brother.

This game, IMO, has a moderate learning curve online when you need to figure out how to play solid against unconventional players who spin, stick lift, and poke check like crazy. Unless you've played NHL 07/08 online it's tough learning. But you'll have it figured out later in the night when you see it all.

I'm glad to see new members join, this is a great game. Just what N8 said, teams will do the same glitches over and over until it eventually works because EA doesn't constantly patch, and whenever they do patch a glitch, 2 new ones pop up in its place.

I'll be on later tonight, don't know if I'll be on right at 10 though.

I wasn't going to be able to make it tonight due to having to work extremely early tomorrow but someone called in sick and so I will be going in later now to cover that shift. I won't be up super late but I can play tonight now.
53 > 40.

;)

Was a good game though.
Yeah, I was there. :)

Just curious- Why does it seem like no one from here posts in the hockey thread in Off-Topic, and vice versa? I figured the two threads would share common posters.

I don't post cause I'm not up to date with hockey stuff. Now if it was say Family Guy or My Name is Earl, sure I'd be a guru. Pretty good games last night, Got a few assists and so did Lohen and Stamos! :D I love our TGIF names but I also like my Burgandy name also, I'm torn lol!

Any openings on the team at this point? I'll (finally) have a high speed connection for the first time in a while, and the online part of the game is what I've really wantd to explore.

Yeah dude, there are always openings. I'll invite you later on tonight if one of the other GM's hasn't already. I won't be on, most likely, for another 6 hours or so though.

Nice. Thanks a lot man.

I was able to atleast get a couple of games in on Friday but I really wasn't feeling well (fever, body ache, etc...). I might be out for awhile since I'm in the process of moving and I'm not sure when I will be able to get an internet connection again. Hopefully, it's not too long and I can get back to not scoring goals for team CAG. I really need to start shooting more; I'm the Alexander Frolov of team CAG.

I figured that since the people who post in this thread usually frequent the Friday night games, we could get games done like 30 minutes before the "official" time or something like that. If there's at least say...6 people interested, I'll get one going.

I've said a hundred times that I wasn't going to do a league and I'll just focus on BAP, but fuck it. I really enjoy playing with you guys, so count me in! Dibs on the Sabres! :)

Wow, pulling us off page 2 to remind everybody that tomorrow (well, tonight now) is...drumroll please:

CAG Hockey Night #8 - 1/16/09 - 10PM EST - 2AM EST

Hope to see everybody on the ice! :)

I'll be going to see the Ontario Reign host the Utah Grizzlies, but maybe after I get back, I can join if anyone's on.

I bit the bullet and made my first theme purchase. My digital camera only records 30-odd seconds of video, but here's my quickie "review" of the Kings NHL 09 theme. All 30 NHL teams are available at 150 points.

I'll be there tomorrow night most likely, and would be interested in the league. I'd love the Penguins, but I know they are probably very popular.

How does the friends list look in that theme matt? I haven't even messed around with NXE at all but I hate how the new friends list looks in my theme (which I had before NXE, it was just a picture of my dog). Everyone has these spaceships or guitars behind them and it's one big gray blob with my dog at the top. Guess I should go check out the NXE thread.

I'd def. join a league but I don't play much as it is. Unless this is a weekend only league or something :/

It's the same, which is why I didn't show it. The NHL themes are not premium themes.

Ok, gotcha.

I'm sure the upcoming sports games will have premium themes so I'll wait for those.
