It wasn't as good as Trent's version, but I think it was a pretty good cover. The vocals and guitar riffs were off at first but once they got the tempo up a little, it came together.
To me it sounded like there was no soul behind the singing and the music.

Literally lol'd at this
...and I know what's going through your little minds right now: "I'll just grab this off a torrent site and not have to fill out the survey!!!" and guess what? You will be able to do just that and BEAT THE SYSTEM!!!! NIN=pwn3d!!!
Had a hard time competing the survey, simply because I don't realy listen to enough music anymore. Last CD I bought was Sufjan Stevens/Illinoise, and then, no idea. I never buy music anymore.

I really hope he goes through and picks some of the survey entries as winners. I'd rather not have a date with Jeordie, even if condoms are included.

So, I might get to go see NIN for my birthday (Tulsa, Oklahoma show). I'm pretty pumped, but I really just started listening to the band about a month ago. What songs are they mainly playing during this tour?

This is an example from one show on the previous tour. They usually intermix the Ghosts and YZ tracks. But the rest is generally the same. Though it has been stated by Trent that the second leg of the tour will have its differences. But I'd still say it will be pretty similar to this. You're almost gauranteed to get half that setlist at least.

The hell have you been listening to before then?!
A shitload of ska.
...

I Guess I can let that slide. Though wasn't meaning to sound like I'm attacking you, just I kinda realize I've been listening to this band for much too long that it just always comes back to me...

I thought this question would fit this thread and be more appropriate to post here than to create a thread just for this question:

Is there any place online where you can DL live Nine inch nail performances? I know that there are ton of sites for phish/grateful dead concerts and for other jam bands, and for bands like Nirvana. Is there anything similar for Nine Inch Nails?

Saw them in Jacksonville 2 days ago. Amazing despite a shitty crowd and alot of technical problems.

Here's In This Twilight

The site isn't coming up for me. I found some on zomb, though. Any other site?

The show last night was pretty good. You can find videos on Youtube. Type in Nine Inch Nails Nashville and sort by date added.

During "Survivalism", something weird/awesome happened. The screen broke up into 8 different squares, each being a camera placed around the arena. I thought it was pre-taped, but I saw some fans in the audience that I recognized, then I saw security staff walking around. Anyway, in the top row.. third cam, I think, it showed some bathroom sinks. A guy and a girl walked in, started making out, then dude pulled down her pants and they started going at it. Camera didn't cut away or anything. This lasted a good three minutes (lol sux4him amirite) and they pulled up their clothes very fast and ran out, like someone walked in.

I couldn't tell if it was part of the show or what, I initially thought it was, but then I noticed that they were live cams.. can't figure out what the hell happened.

During The Hand That Feeds, they had a huge George W. Bush pic that slowly faded into McCain. You can see it in the YouTube videos.. sorta.

//edit: AWESOME pics, tcrash. It looks like they did the same thing during Survivalism at your concert with a bathroom cam. Different angle, though. Looks like all of the stage effects and everything were the same.

I really can't say if the bathroom cam was pre-planned or live. I assumed it was taped but you never know. Our cam wasn't people making out and getting it on, just normal bathroom stuff.

I think that morph thing during Hand That Feeds is new for this leg of the tour. They didn't even play Hand That Feeds at my show, they played Down In It instead.

How fucking awesome is that video...

I Got Besides_You_In_Time on DVD and even for DVD the sound quality is awesome, but overall comparing it to their Lights tour it really feels like Lights in the Sky lite, but still worth your time (especially on HD I'm sure).

Yeah. I was down in the middle of that pit, too. Beer was thrown on me. Pretty fun show.

He played The Frail, and he merged it into Closer. I was fucking pissed, I wanted to hear The Wretched so bad.

And here's Echoplex, Trent got on afterwards that one of the crew members was missing and apologized for effects not going the way they intended. He also said someone had a laser pointer and was fucking him and the band up.

I have Beside You in time on HD-DVD and the thing is incredible. really amazing, great sound and picture quality, especially on a proper soudn system.

Is Light in the Sky on dvd/HD/blu-ray? I have friend that was just telling me about that tour and how it beats the pants off of the current tour.

I was just on the appstore on my iPhone, and I noticed there is a NIN version of Tap Tap Revenge! It costs $4.99 and has 13 songs from Ghosts and The Slip. I'm downloading it right now to see how it is!

I wish there was a Tap Tap Revenge for PC. I don't own an Iphone, and don't plan to, but I definitely play that game.

Have you seen Flash Flash Revolution? Basically DDR on the keyboard, there's thousands of song packs for it.

flashflashrevolution.com

google for downloadable versions and songpacks.

I'd be willing to bet money that this tour will have a DVD. The stage production is the best I've ever seen, they put too much work into this to not record it.

TR has said in an interview that he's been trying to approach (???) to do a 3-D concert film

That may never happen (like the HBO Year Zero show) but it would be pretty cool if it did.

*shoots self in head for forgetting NIN was playing in his area and didn't buy tickets*

But, really, I'm mad at myself. Sounds like the show was great.

Ooh...that would have been cool if HBO had signed on to that:cry:

Remember

This is raw, unedited, un-color-corrected HD footage. It will be primarily of interest to advanced users, who may wish to attempt to edit it together into something. It could be really interesting to see what creative users can put together using this and other fan-recorded footage. These guys are off to a great start already.

Novice users might not want to download this just yet. If you don't have a fast computer for playing back high definition video, or hundreds of gigabytes of storage available to save it to, this download will probably cause you nothing but problems. If you just want to see some live footage, you might be better off waiting until more advanced users get the footage and turn it into something more digestible for the masses. I'm sure a lot of this stuff will be turning up on YouTube as soon as people get it downloaded.

And all three shows have the same setlist.

On the main site, it looks like there's going to be another NIN tour this year except not as elaborate a production and last we'll hear of them for awhile. Though the kicker it looks like they're trying to get Jane's Addiction to go with them as well. Best concert ever?
Rumor has been for awhile now he's working on a side project with Parry Ferrell. So I guess we'll see.
It's not, all signs point to Trent producing the new Jane's Addiction album.

Also, game over. Nine Inch Nails is going on hiatus after this upcoming tour.

2.16.09: A note from Trent and a wave goodbye
Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with Jane's Addiction. These performances essentially created and defined the term "alternative" rock in the US, created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving (Lollapalooza), set the stage for Nirvana to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend - truly the best times I've had. The shows were epic. So epic, they propelled NIN to the "next level" (whatever that means), but caused Jane's to implode. The band broke up at the end of that tour.

Fast forward to the present. Corporate rock STILL sucks. A friend tells me they saw the original Jane's lineup play a tiny show in LA that was unbelievable. I break out my Jane's records and am amazed by how vital they sound. These guys were the real deal and in this current climate mostly dominated by poseurs and pussies it was refreshing to hear something that sounded dangerous, volatile, beautiful and SINCERE.
Emails were sent, phone calls were made, dinner was arranged, ideas were discussed and the next thing I know we're in the studio experimenting. We laugh, we get to know each other, we cry, we yell, we almost quit, we record LOTS of guitar solos, we discuss, we actually begin to all communicate, we yell some more, we become FRIENDS, we laugh again and we do some great things. I get to see first hand why they broke up all those years ago but I also get the chance to see four distinct personalities that become an INCREDIBLE band when they're in the same room.

In NIN world, 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of our first releases. I've been thinking for some time now it's time to make NIN disappear for a while. Last year's "Lights in the Sky" tour was something I'm quite proud of and seems like the culmination of what I could pull off in terms of an elaborate production. It was also quite difficult to pull off technically and physically night after night and left us all a bit dazed. After some thought, we decided to book a last run of shows across the globe this year. The approach to these shows is quite different from last year - much more raw, spontaneous and less scripted. Fun for us and a different way for you to see us and wave goodbye. I reached out to Jane's to see if they'd want to join us across the US and we all felt it could be a great thing. Will it work? Will it resonate in the marketplace? Who knows. Are there big record label marketing dollars to convince you to attend? Nope.
Does it feel right to us and does it seem like it will be fun for us and you? Yes it does.
Look for tour dates soon and I hope to see you out there.

Trent
OMFG. I would KILL for a Jane's/NIN combo tour.
if this happens im so there...

fuck!!! Damn it... I've always wanted to see one of their big elaborate tours. Shit!!! This sucks. I've missed both Lights in the Sky and Beside You In Time (Live:With Teeth tours. At least I own the latter on HD-DVD, though I plan to get a copy of it on Blu-Ray and DVD just in case it goes out of print, since it's my favorite.

So what's stopping you for this one? I Think this is one of those concerts where you have to say you were there (then again Lights in the Sky was one of those and beyond).
