Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread

I just found out that you can just slap on the CPP and it won't disable the left circle pad. I'll try it out and see how it plays.

EDIT: It's kind of non-viable since you can't use ZL. If you could, I would play it that way.
 
I tried playing with the left circle pad as the aim and the right as buttons. It just does not work in multiplayer. Being a lefty, this game is a pain in the dick but i find that the default controls work. All that needs to be adjusted is using the R button for powers, and the x button for resetting cameras. I use my thumb for the cursor instead of the stylus and it gives me more support for my hand.

Wow these cards are going to be a challenge to collect. I realize I wont get them all so I will stop myself now.

However I picked up my copy today and will be playing it soon, looks pretty good from what I have seen.

One year ago today, Nintendo 3DS was released in North America! Did everyone get their special anniversary mii of Reggie Fils-Aime? Gold pants! Happy Anniversary 3DS!
 
Bullshit left-handed discrimination. Damn you Kid Icarus - I would have given it a shot since my love for the original knows no bounds but from reading how it controls it sounds like I could have an aneurysm after 10 minutes. Can all of the controls be remapped? Do you basically need the circle pro attachment thingy? I hate that I even have to think about this stuff.

Dude, this game has a ridiculous amount of control configuration, more than a lot of other games have! It only takes a few moments to fine-tune. If you are left-handed the CPP would be more comfortable and it is rumored that more CPP flexibility will be patched in.
 
Left Handed people with a CPP have an advantage in multiplayer too.

Anyway, I've beaten every Chapter at 4.0 Intensity or higher now. The game really only starts rewarding you once you beat Chapters at 5.0, so I'm ready with my
Viridi Palm
to take everything down.
 
Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion for the 3DS has been announced in the upcoming Nintendo Power. It somehow manages to be a followup to both Epic Mickey and the classic Sega title Castle of Illusion. What makes this one worth looking out for is that it's being developed by Dreamrift, the people behind Monster Tale and Henry Hatsworth.

Awesome news on the Mickey 3ds game. I never played castle of illusion, but the NES/Super Nes/Genesis disney games that I played were AAA quality. This looks great. Here's hoping for a ducktales sequel!
 
Center Left for me. Also, Reggie sucked on that one game where you're trapped, I forget the name. I tried using magic and he said he got tired and walked away. :/

I went to the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee last weekend. Brought my 3DS to a crowded place for the first time...and am now addicted to Find Mii/Puzzle Swap!

I'm from a small town of 12,000...so I've never seen anybody with StreetPass here.

Part of me really wants to go to ACEN (an anime convention) simply to walk around with my 3DS. While I like anime, I don't generally like that type of crowd...so I'm conflicted.
 
I've got 16 hits not counting Reggie this week. Planning a trip to Disney World next year. Just hope I can find some time to clear out the 10 hits sometime during the day so I can get more. From what I've heard, Disney is a streetpass gold mine.

Can you get multiple hits by Reggie just by going to any spot pass site oonce per day. This is the 1st time I noticed him.

Another copy of Pushmo? ;)

Mighty Switch Force is a lot of fun. WayForward makes a very good platformer.
 
I would choose Mutant Mudds over Mighty Switch Force, but that's just me. If you are curious about Mudds, there's a demo up now. Mighty Switch Force is good. I just prefer Mudds.

Hori makes some of the best accessories for Nintendo and their products are officially licensed by Nintendo, if you care about that. That is a great standard case to have. It offers a lot of shock protection while holding your games, etc. Don't expect it to fit in your pocket though.

It's a little girly, but it's super convenient, it's protective, and it fits in my pocket. If I'm traveling and I think I'm going to need more than two games for some reason, I take this along:

With Target dropping the 3DS price to $145 on sale and with amazon being out of stock (I mean, sold by amazon) of all the 3DS handhelds (I think they may have the Mario bundle one left), you do have to wonder if a redesign is imminent. Or maybe it means nothing and Amazon is just temporarily out of stock. Still, you have to wonder....

Doubt it. The Amazon thing was due to too many buyer complaints, do they've not sold any for months.
 
They haven't been selling the 3DS for months? Is that right? That sure is weird. What were the complaints?

It's been at least a month. What's the deal with that? For the heck of it I started a support chat with amazon and asked if they knew when they'd get it back in stock or if at all. Not surprisingly they said they did not know when or if they would get it back in stock. Very strange indeed.
