Nintendo 3DS - General Discussion Thread
I'm trying to scan all of these to fill the Pokedex, but it seems to have stopped inputting new Pokemon. It shows them in my sticker book, but I don't think they're in my Pokedex.
you need to spot pass them; which is rather random... people have said they get a update (blue dote on the icon) and then they can update the game giving them 1 more pokemon.

Also it seems like Nintendo's servers took a hard drive after last night.

I cannot complete a System Transfer, nor update my wifes 3DS.

Finally... The 3DS shop has to DL data each time? Sigh...
Updated to the new eShop and started transfering data from my DSi to my 3DS. Was REALLY sad Pinball Pulse, Art Academy, and Pro-Putt Domo can't be transfered to the 3DS after all.

I must say, though, the Pikmin running around while you do a DSi transfer is pretty great.
As sad as it sounds, that Pikmin thing just made me smile and remember why I bought a 3DS in the first place. It's the little things.

I didn't have much DSiWare, so it was a short process for me... I was, however, unhappy to discover that the pre-loaded DSiWare doesn't transfer either. The two Brain Age games on the DSi XL seem to be stuck there. I was surprised to find out that Photo Dojo transfered, though I'm likely to just delete that.

Weird thing that irks me? Downloaded stuff icons load slower on the 3DS, so there are blank spaces for the first few seconds when the 3DS menu boots up. Completely irrelevant, but it bugs me.

Oh, and after Excitebike, I'll buy literally almost any 3D Classic they release. Awesome.

Turns out part of the problem was in fact on my end... Looks like my AP REALLY didnt like my 3DS and DSi introducing themselves as the same thing.

Got my update before work, have to download my free games tonight, and scan that damn wall of pokemon.

Anyone know if stores are selling prepaid 3DS cards yet? Want to pick one up after work if I can. I kinda want one, just in case :D,

I heard some Bestbuys had em

Yeah, Best Buy would probably be the best place to look after GameStop. If I'm right, didn't someone say that GameStop already had them last week?

Wal-Mart was a no go for me. I didn't even see Wii Point cards, let alone these.

Oh... random thing, but I was playing in the eShop earlier and noticed that it listed PacMan/Galaga as 'available now'. Did I miss something, or is it still slated for the end of this month? I need me some portable PacMan Championship Edition.

Its out on the 28th I believe...

According to best buy.com my Best Buy has them. Might as well check after work then.

Thanks guys

Yeah, they definitely have them. Been there a few weeks. I used a $5 RZ toward one just to keep the coupon from going to waste.

+1

But I have to say that along the same lines, I was disappointed by the new DL animation. They had NES Mario sprites on the Wii and GBA Mario sprites on the DSi and now its just some generic color drops?

Finally was able to update this morning, so much for June 6th update. Was only able to move over my DSiWare apps from my blue DSi and nothing from my Mario DSi XL which is stupid. Now i have to start AlphaBounce all over again. thankfully I didn't have any apps that couldn't move over.

This may be me just noticing now for the first time, but did they update the number of icons we can see on screen on the menu. I thought it was restricted to 2 rows, but maybe I just never pushed the button again . . .

No, Ive had my set to 3 rows since launch.
I was bored with Excite Bike by the second track.
Took you that long, huh? 1/8 into the first (and only) run killed it for me. ;) Thank goodness it was free....

Pokedex 3D is kinda cool...for now.

Looking very forward to what the Nintendo press conference reveals on G4 HD.

So i'm pretty sure this is a bust (and I didn't really have any games so it doesn't matter), but I have a question:

If i sold my DSi, is there any way to transfer my account to my 3DS?
If i sold my DSi, is there any way to transfer my account to my 3DS?
You don't really have an account. Although Club Nintendo notices what your linked system buys, it doesn't hold onto that software for you.

The only way to transfer software to the 3DS is to have the other DSi with you. You have to keep tapping the screen for different menu prompts through the whole procedure.

I tried it last night, and it wanted me to activate the DSi, so i figured it was a bust. I'll probably just buy Photo Dojo again and be done.

That transfer process was rough, functionally similar to the Xbox transfers, but much more cumbersome in most ways (didnt have to have a proprietary cable).

One benefit though... I was able to transfer games from two DSis to one 3DS.
Super Mario Land is $4, the other two are $3 each.
Well, those prices aren't bad at least.

I sure hope they stick more up though. Hate Nintendo's activation system, but there are a bunch of old Gameboy games I'd like.

Weird how they seem to be sticking just portable games on their portable, and just "big" games on their "big" system though! I mean I get it the 3DS probably can't emulate an N64, but presumably it could emulate through to a SNES decently...?

Eh, it's stupid, but it'll be okay. I printed off the sheet from a couple pages back. I figured I would try scanning some more Pokemon in again tomorrow.

I haven't played Black/White yet, but when I do, I want the complete Pokedex on hand. I swear, Ninty just smashed any reason I had of buying the Prima guide.

I'm pretty disappointed with Excitebike. I own the original on NES, although I haven't played it in many years. I own the Wii version and really like that. The 3DS version feels like a major step back. I don't recall the NES version controlling like this. It just seems that jumping isn't as smooth.

I'm assuming they made Excitebike 3D because it wouldn't require much work...not much to the game at all. Hopefully they will make a lot of classic titles 3D though and not just games easy to convert to 3D.

Am I the only one not that excited about the 3DS Virtual Console? I don't see that much benefit in being able to play GameBoy games on my 3DS. I can just use my GBA. I want to have the games on the Wii Virtual Console on the 3DS. I'd be very happy to have NES, SNES, etc. I've got a feeling that Nintendo just didn't want to deal with people complaining that they had to rebuy games they already own on Wii. The thing I hate most with Nintendo is not having the ability to even transfer games to another system. DSi to 3DS isn't good enough, especially since it will delete the content off the DSi. I'd like to get a DSi XL but haven't because I can't transfer games on my DSi.

Man, if it's WORSE than the original, that'll be sad  Sorry, it seemed cool before I got a NES, but by the time I did it just seemed too primitive.

Obviously I'm downloading it though!

My feeling on the virtual console is that playing B&W Game Boy games feels like a step back. I can't imagine it being that much fun. Maybe I'm wrong.

I can only hope though that we get NES and SNES games on it. That would kick so much ass.

I wonder if I made a mistake trying to update this while at work, thought it would be quick, but I'm on 20+ mins now and still going at a snails pace.

Sooooo happy there is a new Luigi's Mansion, with multiple mansions, coming out! I love the first one and think it is seriously underrated. Link's Awakening is a fantastic game, but I was hoping for a "3D" update (like Excitebike 3D). Hopefully the GBC version being released doesn't completely discount that.

Oh wow, all of the videos they showed for 3DS games at E3 can be downloaded through the eShop and viewed in 3D. For reference, that would be:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Mario Kart 3D
Luigi's Mansion 2
Super Mario 3D
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Starfox 64 3D
Paper Mario 3D
Animal Crossing 3D
Metal Gear Solid 3D
Resident Evil: Revelations

This is going to be a very costly Xmas this year for myself.
