Thought others might like to know that Amazon is now selling the 3DS consoles again ("sold by amazon"). Well, they have all but Pink in stock. $169.00, so only a marginal discount, but no tax for most. So I don't know what was going on before with them having stopped selling it, but that appears to be over.
So a Nintendo Direct is tonight. I expect them to announce the Fire Emblem Puzzle for Street Pass, which I heard about a few weeks ago. Same goes for a Firmware Update related to the eShop. NoA is going to translate English related announcements as well.

Ability to access Nintendo eShop account from other internet enabled devices including computers and smartphones.
Allow users to take pictures of QR codes with the 3DS from the other device’s screen to redeem purchased content.
Nintendo Network will be immediately installed.
Nintendo Zone application will be immediately installed to all European 3DSs.
Enhanced performance and overall system stability.
Improved Battery Life of the system in certain conditions
The upcoming firmware update could add any of those features Nintendo has already confirmed.
3DS-less eShop access will be great. I wish Sony would do something like that for PSN games so I don't have to browse on the damn console. Hopefully they'll implement it one of these days and claim it as an original idea.
Thought I'd mention this here, too, since it'll have applications beyond Kid Icarus. I'm too lazy to bother with collecting AR cards and discovered that scans online work just as well. If collecting is your thing then the physical cards are superior, but to me 400+ is just too many to care.
There are already a few sites devoted to cataloging them, and there's even an Android app for the AR cards:
It's been that way for a while with AR cards, which is why the companies that offer them also have PDFs on their site so you can print them out if anything happens to your own cards. However, Nintendo might not offer the Kid Icarus cards if they plan on selling them for whatever reason.
Nintendo didn't confirm any of this shit besides the first one. The NiN app is completely false, btw. 3DS already uses the NiN.
The only thing I can tell you that I know of is 2 rows for the bottom 3DS screen for browsing, as well as additional categories.
I don't think the 3DS is currently using the Nintendo Network, otherwise you would see Nintendo advertising it on its website as a feature of the 3DS. Mario Kart 7 and Kid Icarus are using some features of the Nintendo Network currently. The digital platform and the features it brings are not fully implemented yet.
I believe the Nintendo Network app will be used for account management stuff, and the eShop will be dedicated as a store. Same thing Sony is doing with the Playstation Network. I can't find any proof of that yet but it is only reasonable for Nintendo to have the Nintendo Network icon somewhere on the 3DS same with how Sony has the PSN logo on both the Vita and PS3.
According to John Ricciardi, they announced folders and game updates for the next firmware update. I was't in huge need of folders, but I guess I'll have everything on one screen now.
I, too, want Project X zone over here. Was very disappointed that namco x capcom never came out over here and the abortion that was Cross x edge. Also, very excited about NSMB2
I think the sky is falling. Nintendo shows screenshots of a new Mario game and I'm not instantly wanting it...
I'm sure I'll end up getting it since there probably won't be anything worth while to play from August till November. Maybe I'll have my Vita by then...
Hopefully, NSMB2 will have some sort of level editor where you can create and share levels with streetpass. Entirely worthless in SM3DL, imo.
Kirby gets celebrated but not Metroid? I hope they have a huge reveal for Metroid 3DS/Wii U come E3.
Hopefully, Metroid Dread!
On another note, I'd really like to see a 3DS redesign - I just found the original one a bit uncomfortable. My hope is that Capcom is purposefully holding off on announcing Monster Hunter Tri G for North America until Nintendo reveals a new 3DS with the circle pad pro integrated into the system.
Dear lord they better bring Project X Zone over to the US or I am going to be extremely displeased. That game looks amazing.
Yep, and imho 2D sprites produce the best 3D effect, so this game could look killer in 3D.
Iwata created Kirby, so of course it's going to be celebrated. Why on Wii I don't know however. Kirby made its' success on handhelds, not on consoles.
I went to the KI:U event today, got 3 Street Passes, completed my OOT puzzle. I could've gotten 2 more, but there was a lot of wireless interference. I also got a few more cards.
I tried to go to the KI:U event advertised at a local Best Buy, but apparently the Nintendo rep was there LAST week (even though the schedule online very clearly said it should have been today) and there was no multiplayer stuff, they were just handing out AR cards. The employees had no idea what I was talking about. Time and gas wasted.

Pretty sure you can buy anything on PSN using Media Go on your PC. You can even download PSP games for transfer to your system.
Japan is getting Animal Crossing this fall. Nintendo, I expect the game by Christmas. Do it.
I could have sworn I read an article on IGN that said Japan is getting Animal Crossing in June, and we are getting it in the Fall. I do not see the article anymore though...
Although it's obviously way too late, I tried asking the gals at GameStop if they might possibly have any Kid Icarus cards left over, but they had no idea what I was talking about. They hosted the stupid event last weekend and these girls aren't new employees, but they were completely clueless and couldn't comprehend that I wasn't trying to get the cards that come with the game.
Oh well, at least I got a free PS Vita. Now I just need to get a game and one of those disgustingly expensive memory cards. I'm hoping a small one can tide me over until the Chinese knock-offs start making their way on eBay.

Media Go is just one big bloatware cluster shaq-fu. It's actually worse than the PSN Store because, aside from having to download/install something, content is poorly organized and the interface is a total mess. Besides, they only sell PSP-compatible games on there (PSP exclusives, Minis, and PS1 Classics) because it was designed to be used in conjunction with the PSP Go. For PS3 and Vita games, you still have to use PSN.
Iwata created Kirby, so of course it's going to be celebrated.
Masahiro Sakurai created Kirby, but Iwata did work on the games while he was at HAL.
But in the world of videogames, credit gets misattributed all the time, particularly with producers often getting the majority of the credit. Everyone knows the name Gabe Newell, but how many people have heard of Kim Swift? She only created Portal. Or how Gunpei Yokoi used to be given all the credit for Metroid, and now Sakamoto is often called the creator of Metroid, when Samus Aran and the Metroid concept were created by Hiroji Kiyotake and Makoto Kano.

People mainly identify Kirby with Iwata nowadays because he's in charge of Nintendo. Because of that, Kirby gets a lot of preferential treatment and has had numerous releases since he's been in charge.
People attribute Sakamoto as Metroid's creator from a story/universe perspective
and yes, I know it wasn't his idea to have Samus be a woman
, even though he had NOTHING to do with the series' biggest story moment, the ending of Metroid II. They also don't talk about Yokoi that much because, unfortunately, he's dead. However, I'm sure more people put Sakamoto under the microscope now to question whether or not he knows what Metroid is supposed to be.
As for Portal, I don't really associate anyone with creating Portal. I heard of Kim Swift's name before I heard Gabe Newell's name though, even though I rarely hear about the former now because the media loves their Gaming Superstars.
I played a couple of multiplayer matches while I was there. I got 2nd and then 1st. The other guy got 1st and then 2nd.
I just hit system update and it's definitely downloading something, so I'd say the update is live.
It's kind of sad how excited I am to organize.
Edit - Yup, definitely up. I'm not a big fan of it only using the first letter of the folder title for the bottom screen icon, but it's a small complaint. Jesus, I love not having to scroll four times to play some damn NES games.
You can change the icon size in folders as well. At least on the Top Screen they show the complete Folder Name. I went from 5 rows down to 3 because I could fit everything nicely into 3 rows/6 columns.
And the eShop got a revamp. It's...kind of weird. But still neat since it cuts down on some scrolling.
