Nintendo DSi and DSi XL Out Now. "3DS" Showing at E3

Also you can just try putting in the address as "m.some.address" instead of "www.some.address". Also try "i." and "iphone.". That's how some websites do their mobile/iphone versions.

EDIT: and, yes, the browser is painfully/insanely slow. I think they shouldn't even have offered it as it just makes the DSi look bad.

Speaking of DSi-friendly sites, I know on the Wii there are websites that have compiled games playable online through the Wii Opera browser. Anyone know if sites like that exist for the DSi yet?

Thanks Foltzie! That is exactly what I was looking for. I don't use my cell phone for internet so I had no idea about all the mobile websites. This is great help.
Yeah the power button location sucks and battery life isn't nearly as good. My DS Lite's battery lasted extremely long. I wish they didn't reduce the capacity of the battery since it now also has to handle bigger & brighter screens.

I love the texture though. I didn't like the old acrylic casings.

Here's my new netbook.

Hah, this reminds me when I put a small Apple sticker on my Platinum GBA SP and called it a Powerbook Mini.

With the free points you do get free games with a DSi, and more then one even, plus it's your choice and not the choice of Nintendo (their choice of what to pack-in). Precipice and Pictobits are great choices for your free download games, but there are other good ones too.
I would wait for Christmas.... but I wont get the 1000 free pints then...
You can buy Nintendo points cheap. There's someone in the eBay forum selling 1200 points for like $8. You could buy them now and hold on to them.

I mean.... Amazon was giving Rhythm Heaven free with every blue DSi, a few weeks ago. I happen to already own Rhythm Heaven (gotta love lightning deals!), so Starfy would be great.

The second I see a deal with a game I want, before October so I can get the 1000 Wii Points (Plus the 5000 I am going to add... thanks Pepsi!), I am going to bite.

These are the DSi games I want:

WarioWare Snapped,
Mario vs. DK: The Minis March Again,
Pictobits.

People don't seem hot on Warioware Snapped. PiCTOBiTs is arguably the best DSi game, or at least the best Art.Style variation (though I personally like AQUARIA and Base 10 a lot). MvDK got confusion because everyone thought it was just the DS game.

Anyway, good luck flameofdoom. A Stafy bundle would be excellent. Or a Mario and Luigi 3....

Mario And Luigi 3 would be fantastic.

I have to buy the DSi before October to get the free 1000 points. I am holding out for now... :)

I case there is any lingering confusion. Mario VS DK MMA is excellent. The only thing reused is the design of the boss stages and even those are running on the new MvDK engine.

Also, there is the option to download up to 140 levels through the online sharing site. Nintendo themselves appears to be loading up 4 levels a week. The Non-Nintendo levels do lack a certain charm, but tend to be reasonably challenging and fun in their own right.

C'mon Nintendo, release the White DSi in the US and I'll be there day 1.

My first GBA was Arctic White, my DS Lite is white, and all the consoles on my bookshelf (With the exception of my N64) are white.

White, plz.

Note: If there was a simple way to transfer any purchased items to a new DSi I'd buy one now and sell it when the White dropped.

And then two days later they do as I ask.

I'll be there day one when this thing launches to pick it up.

I might ask my girlfriend if she wants the pink one, but she likes the coral color of the Lite so much I don't know if she'll want to give it up.

Ok, so I have till October to open my launch DSi? (So as not to miss out on the free points). It's just sitting here. I've felt no need to open it yet - but maybe for this Flipnote thing.

I also have a $75 system coupon to use at Amazon before the end of this month. I really wish I could have gotten in on a bundle (just missed the Rhythm Heaven one as I didn't have my code in time). I will probably end up getting another DSi though to sit next to this one ;). I see even less reason to get a PSPGo. Maybe a PSP-3000 or something (I have a launch PSP that I barely play). Crap, I dunno.

Well, in any case, I'll probably open up the first one soon and try some of this stuff out and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe if I find it so incredibly awesome I'll use that coupon to get the kids one to share. It would be nice if at least the white one showed up for preorder within the next 2 weeks - but that seems unlikely.
Haha...I spent 2 hours yesterday and today playing and making something with flipnote....
My fiance and I just spent about the same amount of time lying on my bed with him telling me things to draw and us watching them animate. It was a hilarious time. This application is really just so good. It so won't be free forever.

^Thanks very much!

How do I get it to display in this thread? Its only letting me post the link but I cant seem to the get the whole player to post....

Dont know, the player may not be supported by the CAG site code. Do you have a direct URL ?I had to view it by opening the image directly.

Do you think of the Art Style games as full-blown games, or as mini-games to play when you have free time?

More like minigames. I fiddle with them occasionally, but never for long. While they're great values for the cost, they don't immerse me in the same way as other B&M-released games.

Does DSiWare have any full-blown games that are comparable to retail games in terms of replayability and depth? I can think of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, but when you play that game, do you get the feeling that it's a "real" game or does it still feel like a downloaded game, if you know what I mean?

100 Levels, perfectly reasonable length for $8, plus the ability to download 140 more levels. Full engine, feels like a regular game.

As for some of the other games, the Art Style games arent a long as full length games, but they could easily have been a NES game and are just as polished and fun as some classic puzzle games.

240 Levels. Wow, I didn't know there were that many.

Unfortunately, I'm not into puzzle games so I guess I'll have to wait for DSi VC to come out.

Just to be clear, it has the option to download 140 levels. Nintendo hosts a server where you can download levels created by others and Nintendo, not unlike Super Smash Bros Brawl. Nintendo releases ~4 levels a week and are up in the 30 range.

I wanted to buy a DSi from Amazon.com with a -$75.00 off a console coupons. Since people were trying to sell me the coupon for $55.00 anyway, that would have only been $20.00 in savings. I declined. I waited it out. Today I purchased a black DSi through Dell for $151.52 (that includes tax and shipping). I live in NY so I would have been taxed on Amazon.com anyway- so this deal essentially saved me $30.00. Awesome deal because I even get 1000 free Wii Points and have a ton ready from the Pepsi promotion.

Originally I stated that I will only buy a DSi if it comes with a game. Well... $30.00 off is just as good, if not better!

I had a DS phat, and never a Lite- so I am very excited to finally upgrade!

(This was posted http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220668&page=22 first. I am not sure which is the right spot, nor do I care. I just want to get the word out that a DSi can be obtained cheaper than the MSRP)

It is all good, since CAG has a dedicated section for below MSRP deals it isnt proper to soely discuss them here, but there certainly isnt any reason to avoid the topic, especially with links to the relevant deal as you have done.
It appears that the DSi-only Carts will be coming sooner rather than later (at least in Japan). Someone is telling Kotaku that the DSI-Only Cases will be all-white as opposed to the current gray.

That's interesting... I wonder if the game cases will stay the same size or be slightly smaller, just to make them even more obviously distinct from regular DS game cases.

All valid questions... DSi only carts seem a bit early, especially since DSi enhanced DS carts havent appeared.

No metion of DS games with DSi enhancements. I wouldnt be surprised if Zelda Spirit Tracks does something silly to incorporate the DSi camera.

Sorry, but I was right Strell. Back in late March I said:
I'd be very surprised to not see DSi exclusive games appearing late 09 early 10 as I said before. It makes sense for publishers to target some games specifically to DSi, even with the smaller userbase, because DSi owners will be looking for a game that takes advantage of their hardware.

If the DSi userbase reaches around 7 million as you claimed yourself by the end of the year, it could make sense to try and get a larger tie ratio among those who own a DSi than to launch another regular DS game among all the competition on DS.
You said:
You haven't made a single good point, J7. You've thrown out the same argument over and over and over without thinking for a second about the contradictory viewpoints.

You won't be seeing DSi-exclusive big titles until 2010 at the earliest, and even then, it'll be the latter half. Not even Nintendo has announced a big one. Third parties won't follow under after. DSiware doesn't count here.

Even if the DSi makes 7 million by the end of the year, that's not comparable to the DS userbase. It amazes me that you can't see that. You continue to portray it in this "they could be a big DSi name" as if that makes sense. It's not going to happen.

It also goes against a third party initially because that's too big a gamble. Again, the fact that you can't see this is astonishing.

J7, I should note that the information from Kotaku is completely unsourced, vague, and even if true there is still the chance the game would be release in Japan first.

However, I will say I'm very surprised there hasnt been a single DSi enhanced cart.

Not in America you aren't. Unless I"m reading this map and globe incorrectly, suddenly unaware of geographic locations.

And since Japan launched their system several months before, and since our games won't arrive here until some time after that, you are barely half way correct.

This is all assuming Failtaku is ever right, having a batting average equivalent to Paris Hilton's sagging labia, and therefore inconsistent at best.

When I said late 2009/early 2010 I meant worldwide, I didn't specify America. Even if we are talking about America, I think we'll see some before late 2010. If you don't want to man up that is fine, I won't push you. Hopefully in the future you won't act like I am 100% wrong and you're 100% right though.

The first DSi-only cart has been announced for Japan, Alpha Unit's Monster Finder

Basically, it's like Sony's recently announced PSP title "Invizimals", where you use the DSi's camera to look for monsters and capture them, then you can battle with them.
