makes you wonder why this is a gamecube title and why they didnt try to make it for the WII

i heard release date is LATE 4Q. that would be around the same time the WII comes out.

if Zelda gets cancelled for the CUBe, expect this title to get the Axe as well.

i probally end up dumping my gamecube by AUG. There is nothing on that line up that i want to play. might as well save up for the WII

And FF6 is going to be redone with new graphics and such, so it's not like they're direct ports(FF5 might, haven't read anything on it).
Link to this?

From what I've heard, FF 6 is a direct port, just like FF 4 was (with added dungeons).

LOL looks like xbox has more games coming out for it then gamecube. I thought i read somewhere that 3rd party support was going to dry up for the xbox.
It appeared to have dual screen spanning of the game. Kind of like Sonic did.
Just like Yoshi's Touch and Go did.

That 2D Mario for the cube is awesome, why the hell didn't they bring that up at the conference??
I would say that it isn't scrapped, if only for the VC. Nintendo has said that they want you to play your favorite games as you remember them, and that you shouldn't have to learn new control schemes for them.
That's true, so i guess it makes sense that they'd wait for the VC announcement before they release that info. Thanks to those who posted the new pics of the controller , I hadn't seen that yet.

But it looks like it is an entirely different controller as opposed to the wii controller in a classic casing.

Holy shyte that looks incredibly fun! Maybe I won't put my gamecube away after all.

The difference being, FFVI is worth owning. ALWAYS.

I'm still kind of annoyed that no new Smash Bros. was shown...

Bah, nevermind. I was thinking of FF3 on the DS. I hate Square for mixing up the numbers over the years. Wheneve I see FF3 I automatically think of 6, and 2 of 4, and so on.

Bastards. :headache:
Holy SHIT. WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOW THAT IN THE CONFERENCE?

SOLD.
No clue... you think they would though, espically with New Super Mario Bros hitting soon, like "Hey, you like that, ANOTHER 2D Mario, this time on the home console!"

Well, I just called over to EB and was the first person to get my name on the list to pre-preorder the Wii. (They don't have any information yet, but they will call when they know when they will begin preorders...)

They also had a similar list for the PS3, but since I'm not paying $600, I didn't need my name on that list...

I almost feel bad mocking Sony. I'll need well more than $600 when the Wii comes out.

But, you know, that's cause there's about 10 games I want for it already.

EVERYONE CAN THANK ME FOR YOSHI'S ISLAND 2!

I randomly played Yoshi's Island on my SNES yesterday...and then they announced this.

Clearly, Reggie was reading my mind.
So, if Z:TP hits cube signifcantly before the Wii version comes out, do we get the GC version or wait?
Both versions are out on launch day of the Wii. I'll probably get both :(

Chat room was good for keeping the 300+ posts of "I don't see anything yet" out of the thread, but I guess it kept most of the discussion out of the thread as well. Someone should put up a log of that somewhere.

I'm ready for Wii Sports and about a dozen of the other games.

And I was pretty confident before the conference, and rightly so... they're likely going to string out press releases across the next 6 months. I have a feeling we'll hear price very soon, and VC info next. They threw enough at you to satisfy you and held enough back to keep you going till launch.

I guess I'll go get my name on a list if EB has one. Not even gonna bother with GameRush for this one.

Why not? You want to play the Wii before June 07? Lame.

;)

Damn! I didn't realize there was a chat room. I wish I had read the first two pages of this thread. :whistle2:x

Oh yes, there was a chat, and it was good. I think Strell mentioned saving it (I saved it, but Trillian only saves what was cached, so I lost the first two thirds of it, probably), or maybe someone else did.

Haven't been able to watch the conference yet, but this was a good topic read. I'm really excited for the Wii, and like others, the name doesn't bother me anymore. Zelda and Wii launch day, perfect fit.
Why is the damn Japanese site getting all this stuff?
well, these are all the Japan developed DS games, maybe the US site will start having the US games.

What in the hell is Nintendo trying to do, kill us? I just feel battered right now--it's too much excitement for my body to handle.
All they need to do is announce EarthBound 2, and they can have my soul.

I already knew I was gonna pre-order. The limited amount I saw from the press conference makes me want to rush out and do it NOW. I'm so stoked for this. DS + Wii = gaming bliss.

The most surprising thing about today is I managed to accomplish enough at work to make it look like I didn't take a 2.5 hour break to chat and watch streaming video.

Looks like my GC will still get some playtime with that Paper Mario sidescroller. That was looking fantastic!

It's a battle between Microsoft and Nintendo now. Does ANYONE care about sony anymore? LOL

The nintendo press conference rocked my world. I bow to their greatness and will buy their products for many years to come.

first new 2D Mario platformer on a HOME CONSOLE since the Super Nintendo... the awesomenes of that hasn't even fully sunk in yet!!!!

And New SMB rocking on the DS until then, geeze. Overload!!!!!!
It's a battle between Microsoft and Nintendo now. Does ANYONE care about sony anymore? LOL
I still care about Sony as they still have a lot of RPGs and franchises that I'm interested in. If said developers jump ship, though, then the story would be different.

So my two will be Nintendo Wii first, then a PS3 WAAAY later.

I'm certainly picking up a Wii at launch. My only nagging concern is with the control bar. From the pictures, it looks like it is wired to the console. For my setup, I use a projector with all of my consoles/AV sources located behind me. If the bar needs to be just in front of the screen and is not wireless I'm going to have issues.

God dammit, they added the "retarded baby" noises to Yoshi...I was hoping they'd use the much nice sound effects from the original Yoshi's Island.

Still buying it, though.

I can't stop thinking about that conference: Super Mario Galaxies, Red Steel, Two versions of Twilight Princess, not to mention the shitload of DS games announded.

Thanks to Nintendo, I'm gonna be broke for a long time to come.
