Nintendo E3 Conference Discussion - Controller Speaker - Always On - Yoshi's Island 2

Iwata and a guy named Scotty are playing against Reggie... Reggie is so bad ass he can take on two people at once!

They are just demonstrating Tennis.
That tennis game looks bad-ass!!! I'll need to get me another 3 Wiimotes.
that's exactly what they want us to do. and I for one am totally falling for it
Awww over. That was a great show.
That's it? No price? No release date? No talk of the virtual console?

Was an entertaining show, but not really that informative... the DS stuff was nice, though.

Reggie mentioned at the beginning that they were going to keep price/date a secret for a little longer, but that it would be cheaper than the rest, and we'll get it in Q4 2006. He mentioned that early on.

(9:48:02 AM): Says Nintendo will speak about the system, the name, the price and the availability today. Will also explain gamers' "WTF" question of why the name.
So what happened to the price and availability?

More secrets to come with the VCC and I think they held pricing on purpose.

We all kind of know where its going to be.

Decent show until it quit working.

i'm worried about the pricing on this now. a small mention about it from the beginning, and nothing at the end doesn't sound too promising.

Why bother keeping it a secret? If they threw out a date and espically a price now, after that very entertaining presentation with the Wii, it could have had a very very positive impact.

An insanely cheap price would have looked even better, espically since gamers are still reeling from the huge PS3 price.

I wanted price, release date, Smash Bros., and shell information...I got none...

It was still a great show.

Agreed.. I have a feeling they are trying to build massive amounts of hype, so when the system is more then what everyone expects, it won't make a difference since people will want it regardless.

No Smash Bros? WHO CARES! Mario Galaxy! Crystal Chornicles! Hell, even the Tennis game got me excited.

And on the DS... Yoshi's Island 2!!! Mario vs. DK 2!!!!

This is why being a Nintendo fan pays off. PLEASE Yoshi's Island 2 be better then, shudder, Yoshi's Story for the 64.

OMG, I am so tired from all the JOYGASMS I just had in the last hour.

Yay For Elite Agent Force! I'm in the mood to play some Ouendan!!!

They spoke about it by saying, "We're not gonna speak about it."

Major bummer there. Overall i felt the presentation was lacking real surprises on the Wii front (DS was pretty nicely covered though). Everything that was mentioned about Wii was already known except for a few new IP like Excitetruck and Wii Sports.

EDIT: I COMPLETELY forgot about Mario Galaxy. That part completely kicked all types of ass.

My guess is that (much like the reasoning behind announcing "Wii" early), is that they didn't want price/date to take the focus away from the games. This conference was all about games, pure and simple. It was pure. They promised us that we would see Wii hands on, and we saw plenty of it.

They delivered on what they promised.

Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take them to cancel the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess?

I'm guessing a few months... they made such a big deal about it on the Wii, I've just got a feeling the Cube one will be silently offed in the coming months, when Gamecube has been forgotten by everyone.

The Wii is my console! I love interactive games so much and developers have lost interest since the Dreamcast. Maracas, Light guns, and Fishing controler all in one. Plus Tennis racket, basebal bat, boxing gloves and so much more.

There is no way it can't go over 300 in price, well maybe 350, and cheaper games. To me the graphics were on par with the 360.
Anyone else feel like they are spacing this stuff out? I bet more will be known this week.
I hope so. So what was the big final surprsie, the always on?

I really liked the idea of the speaker in the remote. Should be great 3d sound.
Was it me or did Beat Agents on the DS look similar to Ouendan. I hope it is since I really want to play that game.
im pretty sure beat agents is quendan renamed for america.

One of the surprises was the motion sensor in the nunchuck too. The speaker in the wiimote is kickass though. Very interesting idea.

Presentation lacked meat, but had some nice bread and appetizers. Nothing overly impressive, but better than Sony's. Although that's like saying I'll take an ice cream cone over getting punched in the face.

To be fair, expectations were ultra-high for this, so it's almost impossible to live up to the hype.

bread's done
