Nintendo E3 Conference Discussion - Controller Speaker - Always On - Yoshi's Island 2

Communication: Wii can communicate with the Internet even when the power is turned off. This WiiConnect24 service delivers a new surprise or game update, even if users do not play with Wii. Users can connect wirelessly using IEEE 802.11b/g, or with a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor. Wii also can communicate wirelessly with Nintendo DS.
You know what that means?! VC games downloadable to the DS via a flash ram!!!

WOO - all the classics now portable to your liking.

:whistle2:k eeenteresting. how much flash ram is in the DS?

I was definitely encouraged by how easily the contest winner, with no experience playing the system, picked up the tennis game and just started playing it. If Nintendo's looking to capture the non-gamer with ease of play, Wii Sports is a step in the right direction.
woohooo higher res videos. That red steel promo vid is beyond horrid though.... esp when that part he thinks gangster shooting a tv is so cool......... Animations seem less fluid in the presentation than the promo vid too. I doubt it's gonna happen but they really got to fix that hand model, it looks horrible :D
Dude, you've been trolling the Nintendo forums all day, if you don't like Nintendo then just leave. Here are some examples from his posts...

"Hmmm, i'm dissapointed in the standby time for the DS lite. My psp can go on a week in standby mode but the DS lite only seems to a few days =(."

Who needs a system to standby for an entire week?

"I just hope the game support doesn't end up like the gamecube. So far for the gamecube the only real game worth playing on the console was Smash Bros."

I guess Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4, Eternal Darkness, Super mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario TTYD, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, F-Zero GX, and Pikmin all weren't good enough?

"The Mario game seems gimmicky and metroid prime has always been a mediocre..."

"2D Zelda, finally something worth getting interested about. I'll finally get a game to play on my DS lite..."

Yeah, you know, because the DS doesn't have any good games.

"oh i'm sorry, am I supposed to suck nintendo's cock too just cuz they show some clips of nostalgia? This reeks of fanboyism"

..Said during a casual conversation amongst gamers who were enjoying themselves, and not bashing, or even speaking about any other systems/brands.

"wow that was boring, he was just reading off marketing text. Nice move nintendo. Forcing people to get a seperate version so they will buy the Wii.

Forcing? Who's forcing? If you have a GCN, you can get the GCN version. If you have a Wii you can get the Wii version. How, in any way, is that force? Not to mention you can play the GCN version on the Wii if you CHOOSE to.

red steel might be the only decent game coming out due to appropriate use of the control scheme. minus the gangster style..."

He later bashed this game.

"oh wow Zelda will have the same crappy control scheme...... lame"

You mena the same crappy control setup that earned it 10 out of 10 on IGN for Zelda OOT? The same crappy controls that are known by many a gamer to be one of the best games of all time? Then yes, it's still there.

"Funny thing is if this was any other company you people would be bitching "Omg looks just like the Xbox" or "omg just like my ps2" "lol no nextgen graphics"

Did you forget Nintendo's charing $200-$300 less for their console than the other ones?

"Well this is purely fanboy so i'm out of this. Prob gonna still buy the Wii if it's cheap though. you people disgust me with that constant cock sucking"

Who's the fanboy again?

"playing on the margin" HAHA like all your damn Handhelds nintendo? But hey fanboys dont care"

Ha ha, you got me there! Mostly because you made zero sense.

"Mario is gay.."

nuff said.

Addressing the issue of the controller having too few buttons--I was at the Nintendo Store today in NYC for the conference, and the employees had pictures of the Wii controller. Two of them were what we have seen (the remote/nunchuck), but there will also be a standard controller similar to the GCN controller. I didn't really get to have a good look because I was kind of peeking over the employee's shoulder, but similar to the DS, just because the system offers this kind of technology doesn't mean every game will use it (certainly in the case of the VC games if they're not getting updated).

NINTENDO STEALS CAPCOM'S GAMEPLAY IDEA IN METROID PRIME 3

Seriously, anyone who has played Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2 (its an import game) its the same damn thing basically. You move with the d-pad on the back of the light gun and use the lightgun to shoot. I have said it before and I say it again, the Wii controller isn't as "innovative" as people have been leading me to believe. Its still a cool thing though, but I'll wait until something truly innovative is done with it before I buy.

Word - for those of you who arn't interested what's the point of posting here?

It's already been confirmed NUMEROUS times that the Wii won't look as good as the PS3 or 360, but the degree to which is debatable and really not that important to a lot of people. Well, except for the hard core cataegory which Nintendo is not explicitly catering to. For those of us who are more casual, we are excited about the new possibilities of interfacing with games.

To be honest, I am REALLY excited about the Wii as I can see myself playing these games with my parents. My mom wants to play with me, but can't get past the interface learning curve of current gen systems. Can you imagine, a 22 year old son and his mother and father playing video games together?! It's all but unheard of and exactly how Nitendo hopes to expand the market. Try doing THAT with the 360 and PS3.

So you all can enjoy your HD graphics with the same control mechanisms from 2 Generations ago while those of us who are not completely closed minded will get to try something new.

BTW - I'm buying a PS3 when it hits $500 for the premium pack, so don't call me a fanboy. I'm just sick and tired of flammers who have no experience with the controller. You want proof that the concept is at least feasible and has possibility? Look at all the blogs, newspaper articles, and what not before you open your cake-hole.

Actually its Retro that is developing Metroid Prime 3 ;) . And that was one game, not a console foundation that was stolen, ah I

Well, according to the gameplay impressions, you play metroid prime 3 with the nunchuck analog stick and the remote, change weapons with the d-pad

"tossing" the nunchuck activates samus grapple beam, which can pull shields off of the enemies, and you can be blasting enemies on one side while taking their shields away on the other.. sounds pretty cool :)

So this is fun.

A friend of mine at school is a die hard Sony guy. Loves his PS2, wants to get a PSP. Fine, whatever. We joke a kid around with each other. With E3, I had to be the one to break it to him that it was going to cost $600. Today he came into the lbirary where I was working asking if Wii was the same thing as the Revolution, because he was trying to comapre specs, beause price alone he might get a Wii while he waits for the PS3 to drop in price. I showed him the first of the two Wii trailers from today's conference, and his reaction was immensely positive.

The similarites between Light Gun games and the Wii things aren't improperly pointed out. My friend and I were talking today and figured that these were the games that people designing light gun games really would've wanted to make. It's really a blending of the obvious nature of the Light Gun games and the complexity of a console (or PC) FPS.

I can't wait to play it for myself.

Lol, yeah, I know MGS4 looks really awesome (and will be awesome, I can predict since its by Kojima) but I say I will get a PS3 at launch but I might end up ebaying it and rebuying it when MGS4/DMC4/Killzone 2 come out. Depends how I feel then about spending $500

I'm anxiously awaiting DMC4 now just so you'll be busy playing that rather then posting this crap. We get it you like Sony. Ok all kidding aside if you watched the Red Steel demo you would see that the d-pad or left-handed analog stick is also represented with the use of motion. It is raised to block with the second sword. I don't think resident evil gun survivor 2 did that. I also don't think you could turn your hand to the side and handle the gun differently like in Red Steel.

Yeah its not innovative....at least to any of us....because we haven't played it. We can understand the concepts but none of us can say for sure if its truely innovative or not. I always equate things based on how much fun I'm having with them. So if I try a Wii and I'm having fun based on the new controls then its all good.

I must say, while Super Mario Galaxy looks orgasmically fun, Red Steel really did look like total shit. The graphics were bad, the movement was jerky and akward, the animations were terrible...unless they can really turn it around or it somehow has freaking amazing gameplay, then I'm not sold.

But why are people complaining about graphics? The graphics in Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Excite Truck were actually really good. There wasn't enough video of Project Hammer and no ingame of Disaster, so I cant judge those.

I thought Disaster looked really cool...I like the whole natural disaster thing, and if its done right it could be awesome but...usually not. Remember Disaster Report for PS2? Those games just dont turn out very well, I still had some fun with it though...

Maybe it was just the bad monitor I was watching the event on, but I didn't really notice a graphical upgrade for MP3 and Mario Galaxies looked pretty similar to Sunshine...not that I really care because they both look great and I'm sure, more importantly, they'll play great (and I know that the console's main focus is NOT graphics).

this is the shit, they have a pdf of all the Wii games in production as well as DS ones too. Also every one check out the Hotel Dusk trailer here, it looks badass for the DS

Overall I thought it was amazing, and my girlfriend actually agreed. We're both excited to get our hands on mario and zelda and even the wii sports game.

I'm kinda bummed out about having absolutely no information about smash though. Maybe I missed it...

SSBM has had so much life and still has it. The only possibly way it'll be dead is if it's not announced at next E3.

There was nothing on Pikmin 3 or even the new Miyamoto they talked about :(.

I'm enthralled by 99% of the stuff announced (YOSHI'S ISLAND 2!?!? YES!!!!), but there's some major stuff missing here:

-SMASH BROS!?!? Supposed to be a launch game right? So.....where is it?!
-Virtual Console - Games/Prices/ANY INFO!?
-Does it play DVDs? Not a huge issue, but still something I'd like to know
-How will we charge the controllers?
-Other add-ons for the remote

Well E3 is JUST STARTING so maybe some stuff will be cleared up. Its already been said that DUCK HUNT for the Wii will be shown on Day 1 and there was NO mention of that at the conference. I just want to see ANYTHING on Smash Bros....

So is there any reason to keep my Cube once I finnish a couple of games I missed? I got to finnish Skies of Arcadia and Paper Mario. I really didnt see anything that they talked about as comming to GC. I of course will pickup Zelda for Wii.

Why keep the Cube if you can play the games on the Wii? I don't know if you're into Monkey Ball, but Monkey Ball adventure has been announced on the Cube. Super Paper Mario also looks like a good upcoming GCN title.

24 hours later and I've probably read 200 complaints about Smash Brothers. Seriously, get over it. If that's the worst thing you have to complain about, be happy.

I think they just have too much too show. I mean, they've showed so many good titles so far and the floor just opened. There's a chance they're saving the best for last.

NICE! :D :D :applause: :applause:

I guess the shells are back after all. I have to wonder, though, if a gun shell is even necessary considering how much the controller itself is gun-like. But if it ends up being as inexpensive as IGN hopes it'll be, I'll probably end up buying it.
