Tempted to pick up Sonic Racing Transformed on Wii U. Have it on Xbox One via BC but heard the Wii U version is a bit better and might be nice to play it in offscreen mode.

Yea, I don't know how they tested heat either. If they're just using external IR measurements, it's not going to prove much.

But on top of that, it could be easy to cover the little bit of air flow in the case.

Or any potential joycon interference (due to not being electrically connected, like when you connect directly to the Switch.

Or being unable to play for longer than ~3 hr stretches at a time.

Like I said, interesting concept, but I feel like there will eventually be a version that's more than just plastic. More like an adaptor.

Very tempted to pick up Owlboy and/or Mantis Burn Racing. Both look cool. Though I never liked the original $25 pricepoint for Owlboy; $17 is closer to an MSRP than a sale price for me :(

Mantis Racing reminds me of that Motorstorm RC game on Vita - what a gem! One of my very few platinum trophies too.

Are any of these 3DS Sonic games worth picking up? : Boom Fire & Ice, Boom Shattered Crystal, Generations, and Lost World. I know at least a couple of those are on consoles, and I heard they're different than those versions, but not sure if they're as good.

The physical release, Sonic Mania Plus is coming out on July 17th. Maybe the digital version will go on sale then?

Based on reviews, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (it's like a harder Mario Kart and there's a ton of stuff to do and unlock. I have it for the WiiU) and Sonic Generations are worth playing. I picked up Generations for Xbox 360 (around $9 on ebay) since it's now backwards compatible with the Xbox One, and they even gave everybody the Casino Night preorder DLC for free.

Anyone interested in Kamiko should probably do a little research before picking it up. Some of those puzzles look infuriating—and not in an "oh, geez, how does this even work" way, but in an "oh, god, I have to keep restarting because there are a billion enemies in the way that I can't fight or touch without failing" way.
 
Have a dilemma. Trade in FIFA 18 PS4 with the 50% promo at GS and get FIFA 18 for the Switch on sale now or wait until FIFA 19 Switch releases? FIFA 19 for the Switch will be better because of engine/gameplay refinements and it'll have the UEFA Champions League. But FIFA 18 has the World Cup update.

Not on sale, but definitely get Shovel Knight when you can. It is worth well over the non-sale price.

 
Any opinions on Owlboy, Fall the Black, and Battlechef? I typically like Metroidvania games and I keep hearing Fall the Black is like a poor man's Inside which doesn't sound too bad to me.

 
I paid full retail for Owlboy. I haven't played a ton of it, maybe four hours, but it's pretty good. It has a lot more stealth platforming that I was expecting but that's not a bad thing.

Your opinions are actually almost exactly the same as mine. It's not on sale but I highly recommend SteamWorld Dig 2. The other SteamWorld games are good as well but SW2 is my favorite (best indie Metriodvania until Hollow Knight came around).

Also, Teslagrad, Thumper, Toki Tori 2+ and vvvvvv are some great games, though most are ports from last gen.

 
With the release of the cross platform minecraft. I decided to check out the price and noticed that it's 29.99!
I didn't realize it was that expensive, I thought it was always 19.99.

I think $19.99 was the price before the full release. It was in beta for a few years.
 
While grabbing Owlboy from the Mexico eShop I noticed that Jotun was $5 on there if anyone was wanting to pick that up. 50% cheaper than the US sale price.

Took a bunch of time this weekend and played through most of the demos I had downloaded to my Switch as well as a game I bought with the intent to play.  I'm looking to downsize all of my game collections and decide what I own that I want to keep.  Switch seemed like the easiest system to start with as it's my smallest library (as I was already trying to be super picky about what I bought).

I'll save the wordy wall of content for a Spoiler below but the TL:DR summary is after playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (my retail copy, there isn't a demo), for 9 hours this weekend after playing all the demos I had downloaded for other games, I realize what I love and hate about modern RPG's.   Octopath Traveler is garbage in comparison as is Shining Resonance Refrain.  I ended up cancelling my copy of Captain Toad because I didn't find it "fun" and the timer challenge on each level felt impossible and sucked out any bit of charm the game oozes.  On the flip side I preordered Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna.  No question, that game will be worth my money and more importantly, my time.  Overall it was interesting to game so much and try so many games out (about a dozen games).

Octopath Traveller, I played through an hour and a half with the Cleric.  Overall the character was kind of likable but the writing for her is really unbelievably one dimensional.  Like being taken in at 5 years old or something and she calls the man that raised her "your excellency" when he says "my daughter" and she just can't accept after all these years that she's a real family member.  Just weird writing.  Overall in that time spent with the game I beat the first boss at the well/fire/spring thing and then finished the story to the point that she was leaving to do her journey.  That's it.  80% talking in a very slow text bubble to text bubble with a pause between and 20% actual game.   Walking around the game seems super linear with it's paths to follow and areas seem not well developed.  Overall, I was still a bit on the fence until later when I played such an epic game that made Octopath Traveller a waste of my time.
 
Captain Toad got some attention, but the completionist in me hated not being able to get any of the speed run scores.  I cancelled my preorder of that.  It wasn't really that fun and I think I'm done with platformer puzzlers outside of maybe going back to a Wario Land or something classic.   It'll take something really fantastic to win me back over to the genre.  Still, I have an unopened copy of the WiiU version with Amiibo because it was super cheap on Amazon and I liked the Captain Toad levels in Super Mario 3D Word... so it's not like I needed it anyway.  Of course now i'll probably throw my Captain Toad WiiU on the "need to sell" shelf.
 
Shining Resonance Refrain had a fairly interesting story, but the text is thick and the action is kind of boring.  This is the game that made me realize maybe I'm just not into RPG's anymore.  Still I love the whole dragon come to life stuff ... just not that interested in trudging through that gameplay for it.  Thankfully I never got as far as to preorder it.
 
I fired up my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Retail) after playing a bunch of other demos.  My goodness that had the most production quality that I've seen in an RPG in a long time.  So much voice acting (which I loved) and it flowed.  No break every sentence like Octopath and Shining.  It was more like an anime in the conversations including some actual lip movements.  The characters are all interesting.  There is a lot of dept to the writing and the game is just, brilliant.  Overall this game is so good I preordered the prequel that comes with the Season Pass and I ended up dumping 9 amazing hours of my life into it (just to the point of finishing Chapter 2).  I love how open the world is and how interesting the side missions are.  It feels like an actual game universe.

I played a bunch of other demos before starting Xenoblade Chronicles 2.  Pretty much everything on eshop that seemed interesting to me.  Nothing that made me spend money and all of which I deleted when done.  One game, Disgaea 5 Complete, I already bought it (because I enjoyed the first game so much and have the others on PSN for my Vita).   It's a series (including most of the spinoffs) that I've intended to dig deep into at some point.  After playing the demo of 5, I'm pretty sure I'm just not that interested.  It's not bad, by any means, I'm just not feeling the modern art and I know what it takes to play one of these games and I don't think it would be worth my time.  I think I'll be better off letting go of that experience.  I still have all those Yakuza games on PS3/PS4 to play and plenty of other stuff to get through that I'm super hyped to play.  So Disgae just has to be sacrificed.  I'll be more picky in the future.

SO, as far as Switch goes, I've re-evaluated my entire library and have evaluated most everything with a demo.  I did download the Lost Sphere demo today, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate it.  Still, I like to give games a chance to wow me.  Before playing Xenoblade C2, I was thinking of maybe just letting it go before getting started because I'm finding myself less of a gamer these days... but I'm so glad I gave it a chance and took advantage of that pre-order prime discount.  It's reignited my love for gaming... but it's also set the bar hella high for anything else I'll be playing.

XC2 is my best Switch game so far. 300+ hours in it and I haven't even done New Game+ yet. Just going around unlocking stuff after being main story. Put it away a a couple weeks ago to play through other games, but looking forward to coming back to it when Torna comes out.
 
I still need to buy XC2.. never find it on sale. Hoping that with the dlc it will drop.

Octopath traveller, im still hopeful. Im going to wait til its on sale, but i do enjoy playing it. I just know i dont have the time to really get into it right now.

I really, really want to have the switch be my rpg console, since i play it handheld only. So every rpg i need to try or watch more videos on.
