Only an hour or so in, but so far it is a fun game. You start with 2 players and have to unlock the others. You also can collect better items that help your character. I am going to try multiplayer this weekend, most reviews I have read say that this is where the game really shines. Solo is fun though, definitely took me a bit to get used to how to attack and avoid attacks. But once I got the hang of it, it has been fun for the limited time I have had it.

Unless it's been pulled there's a demo for it. Go download and play the demo. I found the demo so fantastic that I went out and hunted down the last sealed physical copy in my area. I think I paid like full retail for it (which actually was a deal since the second hand prices at that time were high). I'm sure it's worth the $15, but play the demo because YMMV and stuff. I found the overall story, characters, and the way the turn based strategy parts tied together quite excellent. The strategy part felt pretty fresh for the genre and the graphics are highly polished. Seriously, go download the demo now.

There's a demo. Try it first. I didn't enjoy the experience and it made for an easy pass. I have a very low tolerance for games that just don't seem fun.

Went to get it.

Employee tried to convince me not to get it.

Now I have a sealed copy I don't know if I should try or return.

Anyone have any fun with it? Does any progress carry over in each playthrough?

I thought for $9.99 I could get enough fun out of it.

It's probably better to get digital. Won't be worth swapping the cart for this one.

The controls take a lot of getting used to and I just couldn't get into it. Worth a try though
 
Has been heroes has been patched since release.. it was horrible.
I have not played it since, but ive read its “better”
$10 may be a bit much, but its not nearly as bad as people have said.
GS screwed up when i bought it and i got the digital copy free... and i decided to buy the physical for $9.99 when it initially dropped. I was going to trade the physical in for $13 a week later.. but it dropped to like $5-6 the day i went in.. waited too long.

I considered it at $10 but I just wasn't sold on the game so I decided to wait for it to go lower

I know it has it's fans but I feel like it also released at the right time (early on before the Switch started to get a lot of great games) and there's probably better stuff to play now

 
Might be worth noting that Has Been Heroes is 5 bucks on Xbox right now, I know that might not be helpful but that's the cheapest I think

I get the portability advantage but Yooka Laylee is like 15 bucks more than PS4 on sale and unless fixed it even had a few performance issues exclusive to switch.

It’s one of my most regrettable purchases. It’s just not fun and overly complicated for no reason. I would avoid.
 
I don’t own a Switch yet, but I was trying to buy Letter Quest but apparently I need a console linked to my eShop account. Any way around this?

Buy a Switch or login with that account on a friend's Switch. You need the hardware attached to your account to buy games for that platform. Letter Quest goes on sale often enough that missing out on this sale won't be that big of a deal.

 
One of the things that bugs me with Nintendo... should be able to buy any game from them.
Granted they are getting better about digital stuff, but still way behind ms and sony.
 
I love how the price on the Astro Bears Party went UP since the last time it was on sale...because it's more popular? lmao..

I love the game. It's got some issues and the controls take some adjustment (though being pausable/turn based real time helps) but I didn't ever feel like it detracted from my enjoyment. It's a rougelike game so if you're into that there's a reasonable amount of charm.

I might have to jump on Flinthook though I have plenty to play that seems like a good price.

I do. It's a roguelike and the only progress that carries over is if you unlock a new character at the end or any item information you unlock (by default, all the items from item vendor is a '?').

Imo, it's not complicated. Challenging? Yes. Complicated? No. It got bad rep from reviewers (e.g., IGN) and players who dive in and can't understand the basic mechanics of the game.

If you don't like challenging games, I suggest you return it. In terms of challenge, it's not as challenging as Darkest Dungeon or SoulsBorne games.

 
I read in another thread, the Best Buy ad from last week i think perhaps, that the 1st party nintendo switch games, rarely if ever dip below $59.99. That along with GCU ending, brings Mario Kart 8 to $45 and then with a $10 reward certificate, $35 total. It’s not often Ive seen Nintendo discount retail games, besides their eshop online of course.

Do you think $45 is a good price, or will there actually be a sale price, maybe $29.99 or $39.99 during that July Christmas BBY sale, for Nintendo $60 titles like this?

Nintendo 1st party games rarely go on sale, the $45 is probably the best deal until BF/Christmas, where it will probably be $49.99 before GCU. (no promises either, could be $54.99 like it is now)

MK8 I think this is the first time it's been on "sale"

I'd say there will be a sale price. Zelda, albeit older, has dipped to $36 w/ GCU (and even $12 price mistake @ BB) before.

That was in March-April though. So if you can't wait and you think it's a good value, then get it. If you think you'll regret it at that price then don't get it.

 
I can't recommend Late Shift enough.

I was a big fan of FMV games back in the 90s, and this brings me back. The story is actually pretty intriguing as well.

Due to the (albeit minute)sale price with GCU and my $10 reward, and the My BBY offer for Destiny 2 for ps4, i pulled the trigger:: $40 total for Mario kart 8 deluxe and destiny 2. Not bad....and if there is a dip in price during July, i can still PM it within 30 days, I beleive? So if it does hit the $36 mark like Zelda did, besides the pricing error, then I can get my $10 adjustment I think....

Don't forget, depending on what you paid with, CC companies have PM too.

Examples:

  • Chase used to have 90-day price protection but this benefit will be discontinued on 8/26/18
  • Discover has 90-day price protection
  • Mastercard has 60-day price protection
  • Citi has 60-day price protection

I've played the demo and the previous games. It's pretty good. The Switch port is closer to the Vita and will run at 30fps.

Best played on PC or PS4 imo.

Been playing about 30 hours and it’s a fun game. Combat is satisfying and fast. Reminds me of a PS2 rpg, in a good way. Good story and likable characters. If you’re a fan of Japanese action rpgs, you’ll probably enjoy it.

The PS4 has a demo if you’re interested. Personally I prefer the Switch version since it’s nice playing rpgs not being tied to a tv. It’s not the prettiest of games so resolution isn’t that important and the 30 FPS is been stable and hasn’t detracted it for me at all.

That was the thoughts in the game explain review and they tend to gush on Nintendo since that's their focus. Kinda disappointing since the Switch is so much more powerful and the game frankly isn't demanding technically.
