Unicorn Overlord is Game of the Decade imo. Genuinely perfect and everything I want out of a game these days.

Surprised Mario Kart 8 didn’t make it into the Top 3, but I bet it’s in the Top 5.

Fitness Circuit was a really fun game to play on rest days, and it’s a decently strenuous workout while wearing ankle and wrist weights. Highly recommended.

Really only played 5 games this year. Everything else was testing some carts to make sure they work, free demos for 100 platinum I immediately deleted, or a few other things i may have downloaded for free, but don’t think I ever started.IMG_5986.jpeg

There any reason I should get any of the numbered Picross titles before the Sega or Namco ones?

They all play and look similarly (the S titles), and I enjoy them mainly for Mega Picross. Some of the themed ones don't have the variety of puzzles, but are of more recognizable characters and such.

Sorry, what do you mean by variety? Variety in the finished images, variety of puzzle types, or total number of puzzles?

I think any of the S ones (Sega, Kemono Friends, Overlord, Namco, Shield Hero) are similar and do have color picross, mega picross and clip picross. So I was likely wrong on that. I was thinking more of Picross games but not S series ones like the Miku one and Story of Seasons don't all have all the types of puzzles.

I know some games perform differently (beyond the resolution output) in docked and handheld modes. Out of curiosity, what constitutes docked mode? Is it external power and monitor? Just external power? Do you need a specific “dock” device like the official one?

Gonna be traveling for a little while soon and I’d like to know what I can leave behind.

External power and display. 3rd party docks do not affect mode, but be careful with 3rd party as not all are compatible with oled.

You'll need some kind of dock as well of course.
I own two of these and I like them as multipurpose chargers + compact OLED nsw dock.
The Asus ROG charger dock is really nice. I originally bought it for my Ally but it's been great for my steamdeck as well, and I imagine it's good for switch if you update the firmware (if it's not already updated out of the box, mine wasn't)

Also I use Skull & Co grip cases for both the ally and steamdeck so I don't need a stand, they can stand up on their own with the grip case.

Wait, so I do need a dock? I can’t just plug the switch directly into an appropriate power supply and connect it directly to a display?

Correct. You cannot connect the console directly to a display to output video. Nor can you use a generic usb-c to hdmi hub. It needs to detect an actual dock, first party or otherwise, to switch modes.

Shocked that no Costcos in my area seem to carry it. Not like it’s been out for months. Oh well, definitely a game I don’t want to pay more than $20 for so the wait will continue…

If you only want to carry an HDMI and a power supply, I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVWDBMP2?th=1

It's an HDMI cable with the dock built in. I use it alongside an official Switch charge I picked up for peanuts open box, as most of the issues of Switches frying is due to improper power from what I've seen researching. I've had no issues with TVs in places I've stayed so far, or using it in the spare room at home if needed. It also hooks up to my Surface to output to a TV without any issues either.
