They did that pattern with zelda series twice since twilight princess from what I remember. They also held back the older console release and released the newer ones version first I think. Wii twilight princess release a couple months before gc. Breath of the Wild was split platforms on wiiu and switch but didn't get the wiiu version released later to my knowledge.

Though twilight princess is a very unique case due to motion control only for the wii version and it being mirrored.

I definitely remember getting Breath of the Wild Wii U the day the Switch came out, and that Twilight Princess was delayed until December. I figure, if Prime 4 is a dual release, both versions would release same day. But who knows. I also figured that the Switch 2 would be revealed by now; probably not this year and it won't see release til the second half of 2025.

I opted not to bring up BotW simply because the entire game system type changed along with the media from discs to carts. Where as with Twilight Princess you still had backwards compatibility so waiting for the GC version didn't hinder you from playing it on Wii. I figure if Prime 4 is like anything it'll be either simply "enhanced" and be a single sku or they'll do the TP method of still being able to play the Switch version on Switch 2, but there will be something special about the Switch 2 version. Like Switch 2 will be 4K, HDR, bigger install size for higher res textures... and/or some other higher spec feature (maybe some new controller tech)...etc... but original Switch version won't have those enhancements. Considering it's been about 7 and a half years since Prime 4 was announced, it makes sense that part of this delay is Switch 2 related and if I had to bet... I'd bet on the two sku's but without any delay between versions. Which means, further delay on Prime 4 until Switch 2 launch.

It looks like they've only released two games this year?

At least they said this:
"We've added games to the giveaway lineup that have never been part of Switchmas before – and trust us, they're incredible. Plus, we've prepared a special surprise to kick things off in style - a brand new game debuting on Day 1!"
-

I wonder if QubicGames will be doing a giveaway/discount thing? Though most of their games are pretty much always discounted for owning another game from their catalog. I've picked up a bunch of their new releases (the base games, no dlc) for just a few cents. You have to view them in the eshop to see the discount.

At this rate can we finally expect dk64 next week?

That is what I am hoping for on the night of the 10th with the 8pm update (EST) as it will be the morning of the 11th in Japan with the Donkey Kong Country expansion opening at Super Nintendo World Japan.

Would be a missed opportunity as that is the perfect time to release it.

Zen Studios made some exciting announcements today. The final table for the Williams Pinball Volume 8 pack will be Black Knight 2000. The other two tables in the pack are Banzai Run and Earthshaker!.

Also on December 12th, the Williams Tables are finally coming to Pinball FX:

Williams Pinball Volume 1
Williams Pinball Volume 2
Williams Pinball Volume 3
Williams Pinball: Universal Monsters Pack

But the best news of all is that the tables are backwards compatible! Meaning, if you already own them on FX3 they will be FREE on FX. Given that historically they've charged for every new iteration of these same tables, this news comes out of left field and is unbelievably awesome of them (y) 🥳

Hmm. I have to see what I actually own on the Switch....

Williams 1, 2, 3, 6 and Monsters. Interesting...

This is great news about the williams tables being free. It seems this is only for Nintendo Switch though and not the other platforms Pinbal FX is available on which already have these williams table packs available. Still it is something.

I am a huge supporter of what Zen does with pinball and I have purchased on multiple platforms to support them.

Oh, sorry if it wasn't clear that I was talking only about the switch version of FX. They actually looked very nervous in their youtube video of the backlash they'll likely receive for announcing BC on the switch since, yes, they charge for these tables on every other platform.

But Switch has gotten the short end of the stick this whole time. No Williams and tables just not even coming out on switch, and new releases coming out later than other platforms. It was only until a few months ago that the entire game was retooled to even run decently on Switch (because of hardware limitations). They added challenges and unlockables that other platforms had this whole time and it's finally on par with FX3 graphically. So it's nice of them to throw us a bone.

They get so much hate for everything from performance issues, ball physics, the tables they choose to release, even the speed at which they come out. Pinball really does seem like a super finicky nightmare to try to replicate digitally. I don't envy them in the slightest 😆

Was that the one where they jiggle items to identify them? Sex sells aside I've heard they are otherwise good.
Yeah, that's the one. Points you earn in dungeons raise your bust size, which increases your stats. And you identify unknown items by rubbing them.. in between.. two things. But viewing that is actually optional.

It should have been clear to me since you did post the news in the Nintendo Eshop deals thread ;)

Thanks for the heads up on this!

I have purchased tables on multiple platforms for all the Zen pinball games. I really admire the work that Zen does for video pinball. I am really digging their upcoming Black Night 2000 table. I love the little animations they add to make the tables come alive. I can't really fault Zen studios for not including backwards compatability for tables you purchased in previous versions in the current iteration of Pinball FX. They need to make money to keep making the new tables they are developing. I think I have probably way overspent on the latest Pinball FX. I was playing it when it was only on the Epic game store and I purchased quite a few of the tables there. They did end up gifting the rest of the tables I did not own on the Epic game store when the game became available on other platforms so that was nice of them.

I really don't play the Nintendo Switch version of Pinball FX very much. I guess I will boot it up to get the Williams tables I purchased for Pinball FX 3 for free next week.

One thing I've always wanted, but never been able to do, is get a 34" extrawide PC monitor and then turn it vertically to be used specifically for Pinball FX games.

Trying to play Pinball FX on my OG Switch really showed me how small the screen was after years of playing it on a 10 inch tablet. The Star Wars Pinball is still a great collection though on my TV.

Yeah, I've bought Williams tables on an assortment of devices and platforms (Pinball Arcade for iOS and Android, then Xbox, then Pinball FX for PC and Xbox for sure). I don't even know if I have any version of Pinball FX on my switch...

Does anyone know if PNP sells actual NA copy of Nintendo games (unlike Woot?)
I'm asking cause of Advance Wars, it's on sale right now but the image on their store page, i think it's supposed to say TODOS +10, it says something else.
Yes I know it doesnt matter at all in any reasonable sense, unfortunately I'm not reasonable

It’s a NA copy, but it’s probably the Canadian version - it says ‘enfantes et adultes 10+‘ because they need French on there because of Quebec.

The BC announcement has undoubtedly saved me a ton of money. I know I would have bought every single one for the umpteenth time :ROFLMAO:

I have all of the Pinball Arcade physically released games dating back to the Wii era. A bunch of PA digital tables on my PS4 and even the WiiU. Then they lost all of their licenses so I rebought everything from Zen on the Switch and xbox. Then rebought most everything again for FX on Switch and xbox. So this was a relief! I don't even claim to be particularly good at pinball. I like to put on practice mode and just play for an hour trying to complete as many goals as I can. Losing the ball doesn't penalize you so you can actually see all of the table progressions and gimmicks. Things I would probably never see if playing normally...

The Switch version had one thing going for it, the sales have always been awesome. All of those FX3 Williams packs have been around $3 for many many sales (If you don't have them by now that's on you). Even the FX tables I picked up were on sale for at least 50% off.

Goes to show my ignorance, I always thought USA and Canada got the same copies and the "TODOS +10" stuff was french (Im fully aware spanish is 2nd most spoken language in america, i just thought we got the same copies)
Edit: I clearly never once thought about it, looking at the back of my games, it's so obviously spanish. I guess I knew about canadian laws and assumed it was that

I got my first non-NA game from Woot today, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. From what I can tell looking at the back of the box, I think it’s Australian?

not good, you have to hold the switch upside down to play games from down under...

Well done.

Has anyone here played GoldenEye 007 4 player splitscreen on the same Switch same couch same TV etc? Like you and 3 if your friends together? I Google this and look on YouTube but all I find is online multiplier and no one seems to talk about couch same room multiplayer. How does it run? 30 frames per second? I've only played with one other person and it ran fine so I'm curious about four players considering I think the N64 original was like 15 frames per second or something.

You don't have to go that far. Just get a tv (32" or bigger) and lay it flat on a table and then prop it up on one side to add a slight angle. Put it in tate mode and enjoy. Before you are done play some vertical SHMUPS that support it as well. If you want to go all out, get an encoder and some arcade buttons that are compatible and wire it up for arcade controls.

This dude has a pretty nice setup and didn't put much at all into it (and yes, this is a switch and pinball fx 3)

That looks so nice and simple. But you don't have to even build a cabinet. Just use a table and lay the tv on it and enjoy.

I'm sitting out this round of No Gravity stuff as I missed day 1. Not that the games are all bad. I've had fun with a few of them. Catlord, was enjoyable and ultimately what got me more interested in making time for Vampire Survivors when we had the Trial for it (which I then bought Vampire Survivors and all the DLC including the Ode to Castlvania. Given Catlord isn't on sale, there's a good chance it'll be one of the games on the list. Pretty worth it IMO if you like the genre.

Ha, you made me realize I forgot to grab mine yesterday. I always grab the games for my kids accounts and forgot to take care of mine yesterday. Oh well, I probably wouldn’t have played them anyway. My kids have really enjoyed some of the past games though, Catlord and the Pirate game in particular are ones they keep coming back to.

Most of their games are pretty crappy but they publish a few good ones like Will You Snail? and Steve Jackson’s Sorcery. Now whether those will be given away is another story.
